PEJA KOSOVO ???????? Summer Drive with original Sound in Western Kosovo
This summer drive with original sound presents a relaxing drive through Kosovo, specifically the western Kosovo town of Peja. But this video is also just a really good video on Kosovo with its beautiful mountain landscape right behind the Montenegro border. This 4k travel video takes me through this interesting city which is off the major tourist maps. In this very relaxing driving video from Kosovo, I present my favorite road trip from last summer which is definitely a great road trip in Europe. Kosovo, officially the Republic of Kosovo, is a partially recognized state in Southeast Europe. It lies at the centre of the Balkans, occupying an area of 10,887 km2 (4,203 sq mi), with a population of about 1.8 million; and is bordered by the uncontested part of the territory of Serbia to the north and east, North Macedonia to the southeast, Albania to the southwest, and Montenegro to the west. Kosovo unilaterally declared its independence from Serbia on 17 February 2008, and has since gained diplomatic recognition as a sovereign state by 97 member states of the United Nations. Most of central Kosovo is dominated by the vast plains and fields of Metohija and Kosovo. The Accursed Mountains and Šar Mountains rise in the southwest and southeast, respectively. The natural values of Kosovo represent quality tourism resources. The description of Kosovo's potential in tourism is closely related to its geographical location, in the center of the Balkan Peninsula in Southeastern Europe. It represents a crossroads which historically dates back to antiquity. Kosovo serves as a link in the connection between Central and Southern Europe and the Adriatic Sea and Black Sea. The mountainous west and southeast of Kosovo has great potential for winter tourism. Skiing takes place at the winter resort of Brezovica within the Šar Mountains. Kosovo is generally rich in various topographical features, including high mountains, lakes, canyons, steep rock formations and rivers.[236] Brezovica ski resort, with the close proximity to the Pristina Airport (60 km) and Skopje International Airport (70 km), is a possible destination for international tourists. What’s it like in KOSOVO? Exploring PEJA | Gateway to the Accursed Mountains
Exploring the city of Peja in Kosovo + a tour of my room at the Benelux Hotel. The city has a Grand Bazaar & historic mosque and is considered Kosovo’s gateway to the Accursed Mountains.

Peja is one of Kosovo’s largest cities and lies on the edge of the Rugova Canyon and accursed mountains. The city has a long history and is a former seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church. It was sadly hit hard during the Kosovo war where most of its architecture and historical buildings were damaged or destroyed, and lots of people suffered greatly in the fighting. It was a devastating time but Peja rebounded from adversity and has become an intriguing and interesting place to visit.
After a delayed flight I arrived in Peja later than planned – after parking and checking into my room it was 10pm so not enough time to properly explore the city. I decided to do a room tour at the Benelux hotel and then head out into the city centre to see the nightlife. My expectations were low on a Monday night but I quickly realised that Peja comes alive in the evenings and is awash with locals out enjoying themselves.
The next day I headed back into the city centre for a self guided tour of the many historical buildings and popular places. I walked along the Bazaar of Peja and made it partially inside the Çarshi Xhamija Mosque. Right in the centre is a public square on the banks of the Lumbardhi i Pejës River with a busy shopping zone and lots of memorials and flags. I walked a little further out to see the Haxhi Zeka Mill.
Whilst in the mood for walking I headed about 30 minutes to the east where I found a spectacular Serbian monastery called the Patriarchate of Peć (pećka patrijaršija), inside I discovered its history and admired the wonderful frescos painted on the walls. On such a lovely day it was good to see the old church and nunnery buildings with the lush green hills of the national park in the background.

Skopje, die nordmazedonische Hauptstadt ist absolut eine Reise wert. Und dies nicht nur um Fotos zu schiessen. Gastfreundschaft wird hier noch gepflegt. Flug und Lebenshaltungskosten liegen bei einem Bruchteil anderer europäischer Metropolen. Es lohnt sich absolut unbekannte Destinationen zu entdecken. Probiert es aus!
