Booking.com - Travel Proud: We filter places, not people (2021)

In 2021, a slow year for global travel, Booking.com 'all of a sudden' realized that LGBT+ travellers may face problems and situations that other travellers won't. Something that has been known for at least 50 years, but it was an epiphany @ Booking! So, they created Travel Proud, to train and certify accommodations.

A big marketing campaign was set up in 2021, with a series of videos, one of which you see here.
At Booking.com, we believe that life is made richer with new experiences and that nothing should stand in the way of us having them. Travel Proud is our way of helping to remove some of the barriers that LGBT+ travellers can face. We help them find the most welcoming places to stay. Booking.com x Surfrider Foundation Europe

On May 26th 2018, a team of over 60 Booking Cares Volunteers joined forces with Surfrider Foundation Holland Coast and together, completed a mass clean-up of the Amsterdam beach, Zandvoort aan Zee. Not only did the volunteers save a staggering 210 kilos of waste from entering the ocean, but they created this video to generate public awareness, inspire and encourage locals and tourists to combat ocean pollution.

Lots of those volunteering at Zandvoort aan Zee got their hands dirty by cleaning the beach, while many others leveraged their skills as part of expertise based tasks in areas such as planning, photography and copywriting, in order to create the inspirational film and support our mission of improving destinations.

We look forward to sharing many more great initiatives like this one, from our employees all around the world.
