My time in Georgia changed the way I see travel. I used to think expensive places were safer to visit, while inexpensive places were less safe. This trip to Georgia flipped that idea on its head. It is incredibly safe, and also wildly affordable.

For example, my favorite hotel of the trip was the Rooms Hotel in Stepantsminda, which costs $120 a night. If it were in my home country of Canada, a hotel of that quality and location would be $500-$1000 a night.

It went on like this for the full 13 days; constantly surprised by the amenties, the people, and the great value this country provided in terms of travel ROI. Every dollar you invest into adventure here, will go three times as far as it would in a more 'developed' nation.

I highly recommend those of you who are interested in mountain adventure to visit Georgia. You will see and do more, for less, and have truly rare experiences. For me, that's sort of what travel is all about.

If you have any questions at all about Georgia, feel free to ask me in the comments. It will help the YouTube algorithm push the video to a wider audience, as well as get you the information you need since I see and reply to all of my comments.

Happy travels!

The 10 Best Places to Live in Georgia (The U.S.) - Job. Family. Retiree. Education

Georgia is a state located in the southeastern United States. It was established in 1732, the last of the original Thirteen Colonies.
Named after King George II of Great Britain, Georgia was the fourth state to ratify the United States Constitution, on January 2, 1788.
Georgia is the 24th largest and the 8th most populous of the 50 United States, home to more than 10 million people,
a number that continues to increase every year thanks to the many charms that this State has to offer.
Georgia is known for many things: beautiful old houses, a rich history, Southern charm, and, of course, some of the most welcoming and unique cities in the country.
Thriving cities and charming towns, beautiful countryside connecting mountain vistas with white-sand beaches,
plus a temperate climate offering all four seasons make Georgia one of the very best places to live in the South.
Across the state, you will find world-class entertainment, professional and recreational sports, and restaurants providing cuisine from around the world.
Below-average housing costs, low taxes — and a cost of living that’s lower than what you’ll find in many other U.S. cities — all combine to make Georgia an affordable place to live.

If you’re new to the state or just aren’t completely sure what you want in your new hometown, the following are considered to be the best places to live in Georgia,
all factors considered – education, healthcare, cost of living, quality of life, crime rate, attractions and amenities.

10. Atlanta. (Good for jobs, education.)
9. Savannah. (Good for families.)
8. Augusta. (Good for jobs, retirees.)
7. Duluth. (Good for jobs.)
6. Athens. (Education, retirees.)
5. Decatur. (Family life and funs.)
4. Peachtree City. (Job, affordability, raise a family, safety.)
3. Alpharetta. (Job, quality of life, family, safety.)
2. Johns Creek. (Quality of life, affordability, family, safety.)
1. Milton. (Education, health and safety.)

Racha lies in the mountain ridges of the High Caucasus range and is renowned for maintaining traditional Georgian values and customs. As we drove through small villages and mountain roads in this region, we were stunned by the natural beauty and sense of peace.

As the sun set, we headed back to our guesthouse. Earlier in the day, we were invited to join a meal prepared to us by our hosts, who had organized some local teenagers to perform traditional Georgian music and dances.

Discover Georgia's beautiful Svaneti region - in the middle auf the Caucasus Mountains | EP10

Svaneti region has become my new favorite mountain region! Some call Svaneti the ''little Switzerland'' but it has its authentic Georgian flavor!

After arriving in Mestia, I stayed at a local homestay with a lovely grandma, and spent one day hiking to the beautiful Chalaadi Glacier! The next day we went to Ushguli- one of the highest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe. Ushguli is famous for its well-preserved Svan towers and the Lamaria church, the latter, looking back over the town and marking the end of Ushguli. I feel time has stopped here, as the monuments have persited for centuries!

North Georgia Mountains Scenes (4K)

May 2015 we decided to go for a week to Hiawasee located in North Georgia. We drove to the Cabin we rented on top of the mountain the view was too good for words no better way to start a vacation.
Chucky now 16 year old jack Russell was again with us in the mountains we where a little bit nervous that he would not be able to endure the stress of the trip and the walks on the hills. But he did just fine little slower then last time but we could see he still enjoyed the mountain air and his little walks.
The mountains in this region are among the oldest in the united states and sometimes even mistaken to be the oldest mountains in the world. Although they are not the highest nor the widest the beauty is big and tall and they have a peacefull vibe maybe it is the old spirits. The forest by the Raven cliff trail was one of the nicest. The new green leaves the moss on the trees, the creek along the trail so pure nature it makes the world stop for a moment. Dukes creek falls by far one of the most beautiful waterfalls a shame we were not able to be closer by it to capture the beauty even better this is definately one you have to see with your own eyes the camera wasn't able to capture it. Then taking our drone for it first flight in the mountains adrenaline is kicking, all you see is mountain ranges with a small little flying bug ready to be swalowed by mother nature. A big sigh of relieve when you see the little bug back in our hands, very beautiful footage as a big reward.
We liked the North Georgia mountains a lot and as a little bonus we visited Helen Georgia where we found some good dutch food and snacks will be back for sure.

Highest Peak on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia | Hiking Blood Mountain

We hiked the incredible Blood Mountain and found 4 additional landmarks besides the breathtaking view of the summit. Legend has it, that this mountain trail got its name from a native american battle between the Creek and Cherokee. It's the highest peak on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia and the 6th tallest mountain in the state. We hiked this in Spring!

Blood Mountain is the highest peak on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail and the sixth-tallest mountain in Georgia, with an elevation of 4,458 feet (1,359 m).[1][3] It is located on the border of Lumpkin County with Union County and is within the boundaries of the Chattahoochee National Forest and the Blood Mountain Wilderness. There are several waterfalls, hiking trails and other recreational areas in the vicinity.

Blood Mountain is the high point of the Apalachicola River watershed via the Chattahoochee River.

History
There are various theories on the origin of the mountain's name. Some believe that the name of the mountain comes from a bloody battle between the Cherokee and Muscogee Native Americans.[4] Some people believe that it got its name from the reddish color of the lichen and Catawba growing near the summit.[3]

This peak has scenic views from the large rock formations that top the mountain. There is a hiker's shelter at the top of the mountain maintained by the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club, and at the bottom of the eastern side of the mountain is a hostel and store (at Neels Gap, where the Appalachian Trail intersects U.S. Highway 19/129) at the Walasi-Yi Interpretive Center. The summit shelter is a two-room stone cabin which was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in January 2013.[5] The Walasi-Yi Center started out as log cabin constructed in the early 20th century by a logging company. It was renovated and expanded by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933-38 into a larger stone building.[6] The Center now houses a store; its breezeway is the only place the Appalachian Trail passes through a man-made structure.[6]

Civilian Conservation Corps trail shelter
There is a short (2 mile) but steep (1,800 foot elevation gain) approach trail to the top of the mountain from a parking area to the immediate north of the Walasi-Yi Center. This hike includes views as walkers approach the summit, and the final 1.5 miles (2.4 km), past the Flatrock Gap intersection with the Byron Reece Trail, has a number of switchbacks. It is perhaps the most hiked segment of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia.[7] Another approach is from the other side at Lake Winfield Scott via the Slaughter Creek Trail. This approach, which is easier to hike, has campsites and a number of sources of treatable water.

Adjacent to the mountain are several boulder fields and stands of northern hardwoods and large buckeyes. Portions of the area were previously logged and now sport fast-growing tulip poplar.

Near Blood Mountain are DeSoto Falls Scenic Recreation Area and campground, Vogel State Park and Sosebee Cove Scenic Area. All are accessible from Blood Mountain by trail and road.
