Bardolino was once an unremarkable fishing town on the shores of Lake Garda, often overshadowed by the likes of Lazise and Torri del Benaco. However, after being taken under the wings of the Republic of Venice, it began to flourish. By the 1800s, this town was producing what was to become one of Italy’s most famous grape varieties, Bardolino DOC. Today, therefore, the streets that were once lined with stinky fishing boats are now lined with premium boutiques, authentic local craft stores, wineries, and many, many restaurant patios. As day turns to night, crowds gather in its pastel-hued Old Town streets to shop, dine, and sip wine while string guitarists softly serenade them in the background.

????Cheapest way to get Lazise from Milan is to take Regionale Trenord Train ( Milano Centrale to Peschiera del Garda ) tickets cost €9 - €11 and the journey takes 1h 35m. From Peschiera del Garda to Lazise take bus number 164 Just 15 Minutes bus ride.

Tag 4 des ersten Travel Vlogs vom Lago di Garda in Italien 2018.

Am vierten Tag machten wir vormittags einen Abstecher in den kleinen Ort Magugnano. Relativ unbekannt, liegt das verträumte Dorf nur einen Steinwurf entfernt nördlich von Brenzone. Hier gibt es eine sehr schöne lange Seepromenade, die man entspannt entlang wandern kann. An einigen Stellen direkt am Wasser. In Magugnano findet von Ende Juni bis Anfang September ein sehr interessanter Vintage Markt statt, begleitet auch von Live Musik. Leider fiel der Markt an diesem Tag wegen des sehr windigen Wetters aus. Auch ein Sturm wurde vorhergesagt. Trotzdem erkunden wir den interessanten kleinen Ort direkt am See und entdecken einige hübsche versteckte Ecken. Der Ort ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert und bietet wirklich schöne Eindrücke. Mittags fahren wir nach Torbole, in die bekannte Surfer Hochburg, ganz im Norden des Sees. In der Pizzeria Nuova Garda kann man für kleines Geld ausgezeichnet essen. Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis! Anschließend machen wir uns auf den Weg nach Malcesine, da an diesem Tag der wöchentliche Markt stattfindet. Mal sehen, was es dort alles gibt. Malcesine gehört zu den größeren Orten am Ostufer des Gardasees. Obwohl der Ort in der Hauptreisezeit ziemlich überlaufen ist, sollte man mal dort gewesen sein. Es gibt hier einige interessante Ecken und Winkel zu finden, wenn man sich nur etwas ausgiebiger umsieht. Als dann doch langsam der angekündigte Sturm aufzieht, beenden wir die heutige Tour. Es war wie immer, wieder mal ein eindrucksvoller Tag am Lago! Für heute erstmal, ciao, ciao. Und den mit am schönsten Platz am gesamten Gardasee, sehen wir das nächste mal...

Lake Garda is an absolute must for any trip to northern Italy. Because it's located between three regions, it's convenient to include in your itinerary whether as a base for day trips or as a day trip from Milan, Venice, or the Dolomites. Its terrain gives the lake a wide variety of attractions for sports-loving tourists, from steady winds for sailing and windsurfing to mountains for climbing, rappelling, and mountain biking, all with lake views. Lake Garda definitely has some special vibe. There are some astonishing views all over the place. Surely must-visit place. Lake Garda, in northern Italy, is known for its crystal clear water. At the south end, the town of Sirmione is dominated by the Rocca Scaligera, a fortress with harbor views. The nearby Grotte di Catullo archaeological site includes a Roman villa. On the lake's western shore, in Gardone Riviera, is Il Vittoriale degli Italiani, former home of poet d’Annunzio. The Dolomites frame Riva del Garda, a resort in the north.

Holiday to Garda village in Lake Garda, Italy (Lago di Garda)
Deciding we wanted to do an Italian Lakes / Gardasee / Lake Garda Holiday, we settled on Garda village as our hotel central spot from where we commuted each day to see the area of Lago di Garda. If you're planning vacation holidays to Lake Garda, Italy, I'd say Garda town or Bardolino is a good spot since it's right in the middle of the coastline, so driving South or North is about 1 hour away, as opposed to staying in the South or North where driving to the other end would take about 2 hours, or more if there's traffic. Maybe Bardolino is even better than Garda because I think the choice of high quality restaurants is better, although Garda has a few gems too.
I made some videos over the course of our 4 days staying in Garda, which included their market day (an art market and an antiques market), some daylight footage along the lakeside and in the small town lanes, and some evening / night time clips with all the pretty light reflections in the lake. We also stopped by Bullio gelateria since at the time of our visit it was rated the #1 gelato spot in Garda on tripadvisor - and it was indeed very good!
