Flying to ECUADOR - Not what I expected! | ECUADOR TRAVEL GUIDE

Flying to Ecuador with new regulations can be confusing, especially leaving Canada with a stop over in the United States and then onto Quito and finally Cuenca Ecuador.

But in some ways was much easier than I expected. I was so thankful to fly to Ecuador with Delta, they had an amazing crew in Toronto who really helped navigate the stopover in the United States as I needed to also meet all of the US restrictions for flying into the United States even though I was only there for 12 hours.

I flew Toronto to Atlanta to Quito and finally a LATAM flight to Cuenca. Normally I would have taken a bus from Quito to Cuenca, which is around $12 but also up to 10+ hours.

I do love buses in Ecuador because you can look out the window, but being inside a bus with so many people for ten hours made me realize a $50 flight from Quito to Cuenca, which takes 45 minutes was smarter.

Flying to ECUADOR - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

Here's what you need to do flying Canada to the United States and then flying United States to Ecuador.

In this video I mention Ecuador's Traveler's Health Declaration. A few days after I flew someone said you now must fill out the form online but it doesn't seem to be consistent. It's worth doing just in case.

In this video I share travel requirements for Canada, United States and Ecuador including vaccinations, PCR vs Rapid Antigen tests and what the timeline for the tests may be 24 vs 72 hours.

In the last 4 months I have flown with both United and Delta to Ecuador and wow what a difference. In the future I would consider flying Toronto to Panama City to Quito to avoid the stop over in the United States as it makes for an expensive PCR test to fulfill all the requirements.

How to Get to the Galapagos: Flying from Mainland Ecuador to the Galápagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands are a UNESCO world-heritage site, and one of the best places in the world to see wildlife. Located about 1000km off continental Ecuador, they take some time to get to!

You must first make your way to either Quito or Guayaquil to be able to catch a LATAM Airlines or Avianca flight to the airports on the Galapagos. And there are also a few extra inspections you need to go through and fees you need to pay to get there. Here's our experience and the steps we followed to get to the Galapagos.

Why go to Isabela 2021 - The Galapagos Islands / Ecuador | Travel Guide

Check out the Travel Guide on our website:

Heyyy Guys! Yes, this is our travel guide about what to do in Isabela, Galapagos Islands/Ecuador.

We love Isabela is a very charming island in Galápagos Islands, it has one of the most beautiful sunsets and loads of amazing things to do Galapagos, like go for a bike ride to the Wall of Tears (Muro de las Lagrimas), snorkeling in Las Tintoreiras and Los Tuneles, hiking to Volcan Sierra Negra, see the sea lions on the bay, but don't touch them, the babies lose their smell if you touch them and their mummies abandon them...

Best snorkel trip on the Galapagos Islands: Los Tuneles ????
Best half-day tour on Isabela / Galapagos Islands: Las Tintoreras
Best sunset of Galapagos Islands
Best ride bike trail: Wall of Tears

After this video, you will find out: Are the Galapagos Islands Expensive? What Galapagos Islands to visit? Which Galapagos Islands are the best? Why visit Galápagos Islands? Which Galapagos Islands have marine iguanas and tortoises? What is the best beach?

Ecuador 10 Things to Know Before Traveling to Ecuador

CG and I discuss 10 things to consider when traveling to Ecuador. We are currently living in El Centro which is the historic central neighborhood in Cuenca, Ecuador. There are many pros and cons to living in a city in Ecuador, some exactly like we find in the USA and some that are slightly more particular to cities that we have visited in Latin America. We love the walkability, the culture, the food, and the excitement and challenge of living in a country where English is not the first language. And the the cost of living in Ecuador is great, too. But life in South America, as with most travels, will be easier if you leave your expectations at home and travel with an open mind.

Housing isn't too expensive when you get a weekly or monthly discount. Depending on who you rent through, you can find accommodation in Ecuador as cheap as $200 a month! Here is a breakdown of some housing we saw and the average you can expect to spend in different cities.

Uyumbicho:

We spent $1154 for an entire month in a private, giant 3 bedroom house.
On average though you can totally find places here between $200-$500 for a month long stay.

Otavalo:

We spent $31 a night to rent a beautiful hillside cottage nestled on a small Ecuadorian farm. On average you can expect to spend around $30 a night to rent a private stay or home in the area.

Banos:

We spent $48 a night for a 3 bedroom apartment located downtown Banos. On average you can expect costs between $35-$55 a night for a private stay or apartment in town. You could also do your own thing and stay at a hostel here for between $6-$10 per night! Up to you!

Mindo:

We spent $80 a night at a resort here. This was a very nice place that offered a pool, massages and had a cafe. On average you could expect to spend around $60 a night to stay in Mindo Valley!

To get around you can use local taxis and busses or Uber. Uber is definitely cheaper than a taxi ride but you will need to be sure you look into its legality. For around $9-$13 with Uber we were able to go 45 minutes south of the big city of Quito to our little village of Uyumbicho.

Here is a link to our favorite car rental company! Remember to ask about the KM limit and cost for drop off and pick up if not from the city center.

Busses were a good option as well and can be very inexpensive! as little as $0.30 between villages and $9 for an hour long ride to the big city.

Adventuring is the way to explore any place you visit! Here is a quick breakdown of the adventures in this video, as well as our videos that share our entire experience of each adventure seperately!

1. Cotopaxi National Park: $10 a day, $10 + $2 to get in and camp and $10 + $10 to rent a bunk before your summit attempt.

2. The Quito, Basilica Del Voto Nacional: $3 a person

3. Canyoning in Banos: $90 a person or $75 with group rate HERES THE LINK TO SIGN UP FOR YOUR TRIP!

4. Chocolate tasting and tour, Mindo Valley: $10 a person

Food and drink can be a costly ticket when planning any trip. In Ecuador you can absolutely find affordable foods that you will love! You might not always make your own and that is okay here especially! Street vendors offer food for between $2-$5 a plate and restaurants will offer food from between $6-$15 a plate. There will be a %12 tax and %10 Service charge added at most hotels, resorts and restaurants. SHOP LOCAL AND RECYCLE!

We hope you found this video helpful and for anymore questions be sure to ask us directly in the comments!

Don’t Visit Ecuador…

Don't come to Ecuador until you watch this video. Ecuador's economy is bad, Ecuador is dangerous, a State of Emergency has been declared AGAIN. All signs point to not going to Ecuador, but is that really the case? If you're asking yourself should I visit Ecuador then I want you to remember, there's a reason why Amelia and JP, Don Shader, Mr. Second Passport, Flynn's On The Fly, and myself talk about Ecuador, and it's to help you prepare for anything and everything related to Ecuador.

Leaving Ecuador ???? Traveling from US to Canada I was SURPRISED!

I'm leaving Ecuador. I am traveling from US to Canada. And things have gotten a little bit tricky.

If you're wondering what it's like to fly to the United States or fly to Canada right now, let me help you with this.

In this video I cover flying from Ecuador to US and then traveling from US to Canada as of December 6, 2021 and cover the following issues:

Do you have to be vaccinated (as foreign nationals yes)
What kind of test do you need.
How recent does it need to be.
What forms do you need to fill out: CDC attestation, ArriveCAN
How early to be at the airport in 2021

I flew with Delta airlines returning to Canada and I recommend downloading their app as they provide real time notifications that are useful. I flew within Canada using Air Canada.

So my overall flight path was Quito to Atlanta to Toronto to Halifax.

I was shocked at how easy it was and this was because years ago I applied for the NEXUS Global Entry program. It is a partnership between the US and Canada for Expedited border control program designed for pre-approved, low-risk travelers.

It costs only $100 and is good for five years. It’s well worth the money to skip the lines.

Need an English speaking guide in Ecuador? I hired my friend Andres to tour the country, he's got an SUV and is a licensed national guide. The best way to reach him is on Whatapp: +593 98 711 9550 and second best by email at andrivet77 AT gmail.com.

His family also owns a series of small hotels in Cuenca called La Casa Cuencana and you can book directly with him.

Hi I'm Ayngelina and my full time job is my site BaconisMagic.ca it's all about the best food around the world and how to make it at home.

In 2010 I left a job in advertising, 5 year relationship and sold all my possessions to travel the world. In the last ten years I've had some crazy experiences and even owned a restaurant in Toronto at one time. And prior to 2020 I had been based in Cuba.

When the world shut down I returned to Canada and decided to teach myself video. I wanted to share more than just words and photos but to show people the adventures I have learning about food around the world.

I'm not married. I have no kids. But I do have a lot of local friends who help me discover the best local tips.

FLIGHT FROM ENGLAND TO ECUADOR DURING THE PANDEMIC - Test & Go, 3 Huge Bags and No Sleep.

Read all about my adventures in the travel memoir Beers, Tears & Broken Veneers available to buy right here on Amazon:

How did I travel from ENGLAND to ECUADOR during the PANDEMIC....well, it wasn't easy I'll tell you that. Four separate FLIGHTS, five different AIRPORTS and four COUNTRIES. All the countries had different rules and regulations pertaining to air travel during the pandemic and every location required paperwork done in advance.

A few months ago I decided to leave Britain and relocate to Ecuador, a simple journey but during the pandemic it could be potential hell. RT - PCR tests, personal locator forms and the vaccine passport: these are just some of the hurdles that one must navigate before even thinking about your flight. It was a 28 hour journey which ended up being one of the most stressful days of my life. Lets go baby.
