My Flight in Payson Arizona
May 1, 2021 - I was invited by a friend from Maricopa Arizona who lives part time in Payson Arizona to take to the airs Saturday in his light sport plane. We flew from Payson to Theodore Roosevelt Lake. A few thousand feet closer to God, I was inspired to achieve more in my life and give more to help others. I was also inspired to attain a private pilot's license.
The gimbal used had issues possibly because of some high gravity forces. The unit lost control twice and went limp. I abandoned the gimbal and relied on the built-in image stabilization feature of the iPhone.
If I shoot a similar experience again, I would try with the Canon DSLR to see how well it works. The iPhone was satisfactory though.
The name Ankrom Airways and audio clips for the pilot, flight attendant, and air traffic controller are fictitious.
Payson Arizona is around 5,000 feet in elevation and is located 1.5 hours north of Scottsdale Arizona.

The Payson Municipal Airport is 80 acres and located at 5157 Feet on the northwest side of the town of Payson, Arizona. The airport is designed to accommodate piston engine aircraft, turboprop aircraft, and small business jet aircraft. The Payson Airport's asphalt-paved runway is 5,504 feet long and 75 feet wide. There is also a 50 x 50 feet concrete helipad. Services at the airport include 24-hour fuel service, tie-down service, flight instruction, a courtesy car for aviators, rental cars, and taxi and limo service.

A view filled, twelve space, fly-in campground is available at the Payson Airport for individual use and group events. The Crosswinds Restaurant at the Payson Airport allows customers to watch plans take-off and land with a spectacular view of the Mogollon Rim as the backdrop while they enjoy some of the best food in Rim Country. The restaurant is decorated with airplane décor and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Crosswinds restaurant is also known for its large selection of homemade pies.

The approach to the airport is pretty and I was surprised at how large and upscale the homes are. The airport is on a mesa with a long wide runway. Both the runway and taxiways are in excellent condition. The airport doubles as an airpark. A gate opens on the west end of the taxiway leading to nice homes with hangars.
