Urban Exploring the abandoned Arawak Hotel in the Bahamas.

So this doesn't really fit with the channel but I thought this was to cool not to post here. We visited Free Port in the Bahamas a few years ago and we explored the ruins of the Arawak Hotel.

It's nearly impossible to find any photos of this place from before it was in ruins so if anyone can find anything please post a comment below.

Exploring an ABANDONED 4-Star Caribbean Resort

To rebuild this 4-star Caribbean resort devastated by the hurricanes in September 2017 would cost $100,000,000, so it sits abandoned.

Old Stokes Cabana (Nassau, Bahamas) - Abandoned

While visiting in the Bahamas we ran across the Old Stokes Cabana in Nassau, Bahamas. Take a look at what it looks like in 2019!

2020 Update:

ABANDONED Cartel MEGA Beach Mansion

On today’s exploration, I’m taking you down to the Gulf of Mexico to explore an abandoned $26,000,000 mega mansion rumored to be once owned by a powerful drug lord in the Mexican Cartel.

Built in 2000, this 13.5K sqft mansion sits on a whopping 10 acres of land, has 6 bedrooms, a 25 car garage, an elevator, and a full sized gym. If that’s enough, it also has a 2.5 acres of private beach land and a gated driveway that’s a quarter mile long for intercostal access.
It’s almost unimaginable that such a place exists, let alone, abandoned.

Despite the risks of being arrested for trespassing or the threat of squatters living inside, we had to see this place for ourselves. So let’s explore this mysterious modern mansion and get a taste of what it must have been like experience such an elegant home.

Abandoned Luxury Holiday Resort - The K Club Barbuda - Urban Exploration

We visited Barbuda in February 2014 during a sailing trip. The K Club used to be a multimillion luxury holiday resort for the chosen ones. Lady Diana with both princes used to come here for holiday. Most of the Club is still intact, no signs of vanadlism visible. This is probably due to the fact that Barbuda is only visited by sailors and that not by many as the Island lies pretty off track the usual sailing routes in the Carribean. The resort is easily accessible from the beautiful Lady Diana Beach - there is no security patrolling. In more than 48 hours we spent in Barbuda we have only seen 4-5 sailing boats visiting the island ( at least where we anchored ) The resort is abandoned for 11 years but the website is still in use:
UPDATE 2015 - seems like Robert de Niro himself bought the property in order to reopen th eclub in the future! Great news!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This abandoned honeymoon resort in Pennsylvania was built in 1967. The resort operated for 35 years until finally closing in 2002. The owners wanted to turn the property into an outlet shopping mall.

The resort was once well known for its indoor/outdoor swimming pools, indoor/outdoor tennis, ice skating, rolling skating, miniature golf, volleyball, golf driving range, fitness center, tanning beds, and more.

In 2008 the owners changed plans, and wanted to demolish the resort and build a 400+ room hotel and indoor waterpark. The plans fell through and it never happened.

In 2016 a plan was proposed to build a 48-bed acute care hospital and a two-story medical office building.
The project is still only in the planning stages, but demolition on the property has already begun.

ABANDONED CLUBHOUSE for the RICH & FAMOUS | Bahamas | Ep. 34

1960s Clubhouse for the rich and famous. Built up to bring in those that could afford it. It fell into neglect and disrepair about 10 years after it was built and is now just ruins. There is a revival effort in the Late 1970, early 1980s, but it was unsuccessful and overshadowed but the 1983 drug and weapons trafficking. That was short lived and the island is quite now.

This was filmed April 2021.

We are Brady & Carlie - a couple of creative, travel-loving, nerds just living our vagabond dreams. We don't know where it will lead and that's okay with us! We flipped and sold our home, along with most of our possessions. We spent 6 months (of 2020) hiking 800 miles of the Appalachian Trail. That journey was full of constant struggles, basically it wasn't our year. AT, we will see you again.

The road goes ever on and on and our road has turned into the ocean. We bought a 1990 Island Packet 35 (sailboat) and moved aboard in January 2021. We want to capture a creative journal of our journey. Showing the ups, downs, and everything in between - post our journal entries, film and photograph the journey. We hope to also paint and draw along the way. We want to use our creative outlets to push others to get outside, to experience other cultures, to look after Mother Earth, to dream!

Abandoned and Destroyed Resort in St. Martin - La Belle Creole

La Belle Creole was once a beautiful resort on the island of St. Martin, but after Hurricane Luis destroyed it, the property has remained abandoned ever since. The land is currently for sale and could become the next big Caribbean resort.

From LaBelleCreoleStMartin.com...
Located in the most exclusive residential neighborhood of Les Terres Basses, on the French side of St. Martin in the French West Indies, and nestled in a stunning cove at the end of Baie Nettle, La Belle Creole Hotel awaits its rebirth.

Closed following a hurricane strike in 1995 and never reopened, the local French government understands the value of tourism and embraces its redevelopment. On island architect, Mauricio Lanari, is the local expert who knows the ins-and-outs of the property, island construction costs, the building permit process, and what can be built. We invite your tour and inspection!

The approximately 26-acre peninsula point was selected in the early 1980’s as the island’s premier resort location by Hilton Worldwide. The highly acclaimed five-star resort opened in 1985 and operated as a Conrad Hilton International Hotel. La Belle Creole was the pride of the island and featured 162 keys in 22 separate buildings totaling 190,000 square feet.

Offering both expansive and secluded beautiful white sand beaches, partially hidden from view today by a mat of sea grape vines and foliage, the property features ocean frontage on three sides. A series of private swimming lagoons protected and replenished by the sea over a natural rock breakwater, are a unique feature of the property.

Across the channel are offsite views of neighboring Anguilla. The lively city of Marigot, Capital of St. Martin and home to numerous boutiques and fine restaurants, is in sight just across Nettle Bay. Unlike many other Caribbean islands, there is no shortage of shopping, nightlife, and things to do on St. Martin.

Adjacent to the property and less than 100 yards off shore, is 15-acre NoNo Island. Use of this property, owned by the French government, will be negotiated during the development plan approval process. Initial indications are that day-use of NoNo Island can be controlled by the hotel developer, and construction of non-permanent wood and canvas cabana-style structures will be permitted.

There is only one five-star hotel on the island. La Samanna, operated by Belmond (formerly Orient Express), and located on a beautiful beach in Terre Basses. However, the venerable hotel does not deliver the luxurious new style and room amenities prized by today’s discerning traveler. A reborn La Belle Creole, located just 5 minutes from La Samanna, can. Come for a visit, tour the island, walk our 26-acre peninsula and wander through the relic of the old hotel. Go for a swim. There is magic here for you to discover. Seeing is believing. Let your creative juices flow.
