Sailing Catamaran In Bahamas | Best Movie Setup On Off Grid Sailboat Ep. 38

In today's travel vlog we sail our catamaran from the beautiful Exuma Islands to Nassau in an attempt to escape quarentine and hurricane season in the Bahamas. As we arrive to Nassau, we find a week full of tropical storms and all we can do is stay on the boat and watch movies so we share the best on board entertainment system for liveaboards like us! ☺ Support our production by giving this video a THUMBS UP & SUBSCRIBING ☺

NO AUTOPILOT No Problem - SAILING the SEAWIND 1600 Catamaran RI to P town | Harbors Unknown Ep 38

NO AUTOPILOT No Problem - SAILING the SEAWIND 1600 Catamaran RI to P town | Harbors Unknown Ep 38

This week we’re leaving Newport, destination Maine coast. Our autopilot isn’t working so we’re sailing our catamaran old school the entire way. First stop Hadley Harbor at the beginning of Cape Cod. Then on to Provincetown via the Cape Cod canal, where we explore this gem of a town and have our first encounter with gray seals, a favorite snack for the famed great white shark.

As a couple, catamaran sailing without an autopilot is not an easy feat. We have to sail conservatively, stay alert, and communicate extremely well. It's a challenge, but also a great learning opportunity. So we're taking it head on for the remainder of the summer on our Seawind 1600 catamaran.

If you're new here, Harbors Unknown is the story of two dreamers, Kristin and Fabio Potenti, and our French Bulldog dog Yoda. We sold our home at the beginning of the pandemic (May 27th, 2020) and moved aboard our Seawind 1600 #catamaran, Wanderlust, in September. We plan to sail her to Harbors Unknown, and explore the world’s vast cultures through food, a common thread amongst people everywhere. Connecting with people and places through the local cuisine, and showing how those dishes can be cooked on a boat with limited space and resources. We share our adventures as a sailing couple living on a boat and how it’s possible to live an #alternativelifestyle that provides freedom and fulfillment. We have just set off on our voyage sailing around the world, after exploring the beautiful waters of South Florida, the Florida Keys, and the Bahamas. Subscribe now to join our #sailingadventure.

Big Little Changes | Boat Life Ep. 38

A big thank you to Squarespace for sponsoring this video and helping make these projects possible aboard Penelope. If you’d like to open your own online shop or create a website go to Squarespace.com/wildweroam for 10% of your first purchase.
.......................................................
This week we tackle the pantry aboard our beautiful boat Penelope in the hopes of designing some new organizational systems. Obviously, we have a long way to go and the projects are far from done, but it's fun to see things come together week by week : ) One day we will be sailing across an ocean, happy we took the time to get everything sorted for our lifestyle needs. Given that we don't eat out at restaurants almost ever (even pre-covid), it's super important to us that we have space for dried goods and a kitchen system that will be easy to use.

Cheers,
Lou

Fun With Sacrificial Sail Covers (MJ Sailing - EP 38)

We should know by now that some jobs are easier and cheaper in the long run, just to hire out. I wish I knew that about our sacrificial sail cover.

The area of Sunbrella which runs along the foot and leach of our head sails are getting switched out from Pacific Blue, to Cadet Gray so they blend in better with our new color scheme. After a few weeks I've ripped off the old material, traced it onto the new, and have mostly pinned and tacked it into place to be sewn.

Another week or so goes by, and it's finally finished, making our boat match again instead of looking like an elementary school's color scheme.

Matt also gets a dose of 'why is this project taking so long' as he goes to finish our maple hardwood floors with epoxy, only to find out his initial ratio was off and the compound never full dried.

Cheers from the marina!

Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. These amazing supporters help keep us on the boat, our camera equipment up to date, and the videos coming. Without our patrons, these videos would not be possible.

DOWNWIND SAILS for Catamarans: Parasailor or Code Zero, Let's Put it to the Test! [Ep. 38]

Wanting to sail and being able to sail is driven by what sails you have onboard. On OliLuki we have our optional Code 0 lite wind sail which in the beginning we were nervous to use. Three years into our sailing adventures we use our Code 0 regularly and we love it! It allows us to still sail when winds are just too lite for our main sail and Genoa. There’s nothing better than hearing the wind and the water as OliLuki sails on to our next destination!

Considering an adventurous chapter of life at sea for you and your family? We’re now offering the OliLuki Sailing Experience as a “try before you buy” program allowing you to immerse yourself in the #cruising lifestyle so you have a real world experience and a full understanding of what it’s truly like to travel, maintain and enjoy a sailing vessel at sea.

3 years ago we sat down as a family and shared a dream that we all wanted to see come true. A dream that we take a window of time in our lives to do something truly special together, an extended sailing trip, an adventure that would stay with us for the rest of our lives.

Ep 38 | Everything you wanted to know about life on a boat, but were too scared to ask!

We asked our Patreons to come up with any questions they wanted to ask, you might be surprised with what they came up with!

It's been a fairly disastrous week as my mac has died and lockdown in Italy means I can't get it fixed. This was edited on my extreeeemely slow ancient back-up computer so apologies that it's a bit rough around the edges!

About to head off to Montenegro, we find Sparky and Eliza conveniently sun tanning on the beach next to us again.... So we invite them on board again for more beers and fun :)
We set sail to a nearby island of Trogir for the day, I do my first MASSIVE free dive, mark does some more epic flips while Brittni and Eliza elegantly swim, tan and have a few drinks enjoying the sun.
After dropping our Aussie friends back off to Split, we start our journey to Montenegro about 12hrs behind so get caught out in some big swells on the side when the sun goes down so quickly return to the island of Brac to which we end up spending a few days hanging out and exploring with Jackson while waiting for wind!

How To Choose a Catamaran for Sale - Ep 33 Sailing Luckyfish

This week Capt Stew from Luckyfish runs through a How To checklist to help you choose a catamaran for sale. After an amazing stroke of luck we find ourselves delivering a Catana 42 to St Vincent for Dream Yacht Charters and reflect on the differences between the Wharram Tiki 38 and catamarans like the Catana.

The observations will surprise many and the conclusion surprised us too !

Stew was a registered Yacht Broker for many years and founded and ran a Yacht Charter Company. If boat selection was left entirely to the manufacturers and marketers, we would all own 50+ foot monohulls and 40+ feet catamarans. How much sailing we'd actually do on them is another matter.

By choosing large expensive yachts, often for the wrong reasons, we spend more of our life focussed on making money to pay for them, which is anathema to our desire to find freedom on the sea.

Preventing this starts with a simple checklist and being honest with ourselves about our dream and how little we really need to realise it.

We hope you enjoy, comment and question. And, do like, SHARE and subscribe if you want more!

????‍❤️‍????About us :
Hello and welcome to our channel! We are Jo and Rob and we are here to share our sailing adventures with you.
In 2016, inspired by the likes of ‘Delos’, ‘Sailing La Vagabonde’ and ‘Gone with The Wynns’, we sold up everything we owned and bought our 40ft, Fountaine Pajot ‘Lipari 41 Evo’ sailing catamaran ‘Double Trouble’. We had no sailing experience whatsoever, so the past few years have been a huge learning curve.
We thought it might be fun to document our travels for anyone thinking of following a similar lifestyle.
So far we have visited 7 different countries and sailed over 13,000 nautical miles.
We have had many unique experiences that would not have been possible in our prior life and we don’t regret a second.
We're both super keen on protecting our precious environment, so amongst other things, we both follow a plant based diet. You wont find any fishing footage on this channel!
Subscribe now and join us as we continue our salty travels around the world.

Are We Ready for The Pacific? Small Boat Ocean Crossing Prep (EP 38)

Welcome to another update from Elixir's voyage around the world!

We're in Banderas Bay, our final stop in Mexico! The bay is a popular hang out for sailors, and we make the most of our last few weeks ashore by hosting an epic spinnaker swinging party.

We also have a long jobs list to complete before we cast off on the Pacific Crossing. We tore our mainsail, but luckily managed to get a delicious new one from Precision sails. We also fitted a water maker, which hopefully will make a huge difference in the remote anchorages of the South Pacific.

ABOUT US:
Jupiter² was built in the Philippines by an Australian designer for Jamie. During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on Jupiter² and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time.

Hopefully some inspiration to Quit Job and Go Sailing.
