El Salvador has had an interesting if not troubling history in the past few decades. But despite that, it has remained a tourist destination because of its abundance of amazing natural beauty, old-world culture, wildlife, and more. And, what might be most surprising to hear… El Salvador has become world famous for being an incredible place for surfing! In this video, we take you through some of the best things to do and see in El Salvador.

Despite it being a small place, we chose to split up the video into three sections – each is dedicated to a separate region of the country. But fortunately, the country is small and accessible enough so that you don’t have to choose only one or two of these regions. You can easily spend time in all of them, engaging in all types of fun and sun-soaked activities. El Salvador is also known for having many volcanoes. Some of them you can drive in, some you can hike on, and some you can admire from nearby. And the country is full of verdant hills, beautiful jungles, and a huge variety of wildlife, especially birds.

Nature lovers will absolutely adore traveling around El Salvador. As well foodies, as the country offers authentic, tasty, and hearty food that will make your mouth water. All in all, it’s a fantastic place to visit. And while we couldn’t possibly cover all of the best things to do, we picked our favorites to get you started. So stay tuned, as Viewcation presents: Best Things to Do in El Salvador!

Best Things to Do in El Salvador

EL SALVADOR is NOT What You Think. ???? ????????

El Salvador is NOT What you think it is. Most glaringly, they have a Democratically Elected Dictator who is implementing a ton of change... luckily it seems to be good change, though not without controversy. So the question is, should you travel to El Salvador with all this going on? (Was I crazy to go solo??)

El Salvador is a beautiful yet small country in Central America. I spent most of my time in San Salvador, the capital city. The Food is amazing, especially Pupusas which are the Salvadoran speciality, but they also have incredible Food in sit-down restaurants-- some of my favorite I've ever eaten.

You'll also experience the Rainbow Slide at the Picnic Steak House, a really beautiful church in the historic center of town called Iglesia El Rosario, and incredible views at Santa Anna Volcano, El Tunco Beach, La Puerta Del Diablo, and Boqueron National Park... When they're open and available to the public!

My hope with this video is that you can decide if visiting El Salvador, and specifically the capital of San Salvador, is right for you. There is a ton going on in El Salvador, and not everyone will want to travel to a country that is in development, but if you do travel to San Salvador, El Salvador... I have a feeling that you might like it.

El Salvador: What to eat in El Salvador

El Salvadorian cuisine has become a popular food in many parts of the US in recent years for good reason. There are so many incredible dishes and flavors that come from El Salvador. The most popular is the pupusa which is two tortillas filled with various fillings that you eat with curtido and salsa. That is not all there is to enjoy, from the incredible seafood to the unlimited amount of beans, rice, and fruit you will have, you will not go hungry as a tourist on a vacation in El Salvador.

Our Surprising Trip To El Salvador (former most dangerous country)

In today's episode, we pay a visit to the world's former most dangerous country: El Salvador in the heart of Central America.

Up until very recently, the country saw one of the highest murder rates per capita and gang violence was common. But since earlier this year, the country has seen a huge transformation, quickly becoming one of the safest countries in the region. How did this dramatic shift come about?

We are Oskar & Dan, two boys from Sweden who decided to change the course of our lives, drop out of university, and live life full-time. We're trying to see and learn as much about the world as possible while we're young. Right now, we are working to visit 100 countries before the end of 2022???? OUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF SAN SALVADOR IN 2023 ???????? (this is the future...)

In this video, we take y'all to San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador! We start our El Salvador tour in the Historic Center (Centro Historico) to show you what this area San Salvador has to offer. We started in Plaza Libertad and made our way through la Iglesia del Rosiario, Palacio Real, Catedral Metropolitana de San Salvador, and the lively downtown streets. There were so many people walking around and enjoying the historic center. To our surprise, there were even little bands playing throughout the main square with a number of locals joining in for dancing! Such a fun experience. A little bit later in the afternoon we tried one of the most important foods in El Salvador: THE PUPUSA. We went to an amazing family owned pupusería near our airbnb and it was absolutely fantastic. Every bite was delicious and they were such hospitable and lovely people :) Gracias a La Pupusería Purrushka ❤️ ????????????????

El Salvador is a country in Central America and, geographically, is part of continental North America. It is bordered on the southwest by the Pacific Ocean, and lies between Guatemala and Honduras.

El Salvador covers an area of about 21,040 square kilometres (the smallest country in Central America), although it is the most densely populated. El Salvador is home to more than 6,500,000 people. It is divided into 14 sections called Departments. It has 25 volcanoes, 14 lakes, and three large cities and is divided in to East, Central and West with the the capital San Salvador in the central region, Santa Ana in the west and San Miguel the largest city in the east.

See in El Salvador
==================
The countryside of El Salvador is breathtaking, with volcanoes and mountains offering green adventurers exactly what they are looking for. Many of environmentally-oriented community-based organizations promote eco-tourism, and there are a number of beautiful and secluded beaches and forests scattered throughout the country.

A well-maintained and sparsely populated national park is found in the west at Bosque El Imposible. Additionally, there is Montecristo Cloud Forest, and a quaint fishing village with incredible local hospitality and remote coconut islands in La Isla de Méndez. Isla de Olomega in the department of San Miguel is an excellent eco-tourism destination, as are the beautiful Isla El Cajete in Sonsonate, Isla San Sebastian, Conchagua, Conchaguita, Isla Conejo, Isla Teopan, and Isla Meanguera.

One should also visit the colonial towns of Ataco, Apaneca, Juayua, Panchimalco, and Suchitoto as well as the Mayan sites of San Andrés, Joya de Cerén (The Pompeii of Central America and an UNESCO World Heritage Site), and Tazumal, whose main pyramid rises some 75 feet into the air. The on-site museum showcases artifacts from the Pipil culture (the builders of Tazumal), as well as paintings that illustrate life in pre-Hispanic El Salvador. Souvenir hunters will find some of the best artisans in San Juan el Espino and in La Palma (the artisan capital of El Salvador).

The capital, San Salvador, is a cosmopolitan city with good restaurants highlighting the country’s fresh seafood, as well as plenty of shopping, entertainment and nightlife.

San Miguel in the East offers tourists a more authentic way to see El Salvador by getting off the beaten track to see its countryside, coastline and lakes

Top Destination El Salvador

Top Destination El Salvador, Estero de Jaltepeque
Water sports, nature, scenic landscape, relaxing vacation! Did you ever wish to be at a remote place, a place unheard-of by many people? But still easy to reach and safe?

Come to El Salvador! The Estero de Jaltepeque is at only 45 minutes from the International Airport, at 1 hour 15 minutes from the capital San Salvador. There are private houses to rent, of course well equipped with wifi, on the beach side of the Pacific Ocean or just across the street on the side of the Estuary of Jaltepeque, where you find marinas with every kind of boat, deep see fishing or small boats to reach the unspoiled mangroves that extend about 20 miles along the coast.

Wether you want just to dip into the Pacific or practice serious water sports as any kind of water skiing or to surf in the waves, in El Salvador you find optimal conditions throughout the year. The best time is during the dry season from mid November until February.

This magic place next to the mangroves and with an endless beach front offers you the opportunity to stay at a safe place in the sense of assaults or contagious diseases. You can breathe deeply without any worries watching spectacular sunrises or sunsets just by yourself or in company of family or friends.

Welcome to the magic of El Salvador!
