The Devetàshka cave ( #Devetàshka #peshterà as it is pronounced in #Bulgarian) is a picturesque karst cave near Veliko Tarnovo.
Discovered in 1921 by Bulgarian explorers, the cave went a number of years without being recognized for its cultural heritage and was even used as an oil depot in the 1950s. Today, Devetashka is a protected national landmark of national and international significance and has been declared a monument of culture.

Sredets (Bulgarian: Средец [srɛˈdɛt͡s]) is a town in Burgas Province in southeastern Bulgaria. It is located near Lake Mandrensko and the northern slopes of Strandzha. Sredets is the administrative centre of Sredets Municipality.
Sredets Point on Smith Island, Antarctica is named after the town.
The Roman fortress of Kaleto, located 2 km southwest of Sredets, was constructed at the end of the fifth and beginning of sixth century AD. Under the First Bulgarian Empire, the fortress became known as Potamukastel (Bulgarian: Потамукастел). Potamukastel was destroyed in the 11th century, but later rebuilt in the 12th century AD. The fortress was abandoned during Ottoman rule of Bulgaria, and the population of Potamukastel resettled at the location of the modern town and founded the village of Karabunar (Bulgarian: Карабунар) (black well in Turkish).
Karabunar is first mentioned in 1595, and is later found in Ottoman tax registers from 1676–1731. King Charles XII of Sweden is known to have stayed overnight in the village in 1713 en route to Constantinople and St. Sophronius of Vratsa worked as a teacher in Karabunar in 1792–1793. Russian Army data from 1827 mentions it as a purely Bulgarian village and it was visited by Vasil Levski in 1868. During the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–78, the area was occupied by the Russian 93rd Irkutsk Infantry Regiment on 16 February 1878. Karabunar became part of the autonomous province of Eastern Rumelia after the war and was annexed by the Principality of Bulgaria in 1885.
The village was renamed Sredets on 14 August 1934. Under Communist rule, the village was renamed Grudovo on 1 June 1950 in honour of Todor Grudov, a leader of the Communist September Uprising of 1923 and former mayor of the village. Grudovo was granted the status of town on 6 February 1960 and, following the fall of Communism in Bulgaria, on 23 January 1993, the town was renamed Sredets.

The Royal domain of Balchik was constructed between 1926 and 1937, during the Romanian control of the region, for the needs of Queen Marie of Romania (Marie of Edinburgh, the wife of Ferdinand I of Romania). The palace complex consists of a number of residential villas, a smoking hall, a wine cellar, a power station, a monastery, a holy spring, a chapel and many other buildings, as well as most notably a park that is today a state-run botanical garden. The castle, also known as the Quiet Nest Palace” is actually a villa with white walls and red brick roofs, overlooked by a minaret. Balkan and Oriental motives were used in the construction of the palace that was carried out by Italian architects Augustino and Americo, while a florist was hired from Switzerland to arrange the park.

Bulgaria's Beautiful Historical Locations - Timelapse Video - 4K
One of the loveliest Bulgarian historical cities must be Veliko Tarnovo (Велико Търново) with its Tsarevets (Царевец), a medieval stronghold located on a hill. It often features Sound and Light Show, emblematic attraction in Veliko Tarnovo. Audio visual spectacle using music and light to evoke the dramatic and turbulent historic events around Tsarevets and the city of Tarnovo Dramatic music, multicolor lights, lasers and chiming bells are synchronized in a special way. And it is not only Tsarevets that attracts visitors, Veliko Tarnovo has unique position over not one but two spectacular river bends. Not less enjoyable is city of Plovdiv with its historical old town which features Roman theatre and it is one of the world's best-preserved ancient theatres, It was constructed in the 90s of the 1st century AD, probably under the rulership of Emperor Domitian. Nearby Asen's Fortress, a medieval fortress in the Bulgarian Rhodope Mountains is a great location for a daytime visit. Add little gems like Tryavna town or Dryanovo Monastery with its great locations along the river. Vratsa town might not the the most picturesque place, however its position at Vrachanski Karst Nature Reserve makes it a worthwhile visit.

4k Belogradchik Fortress, BG ~ Discover Bulgaria
The Belogradchik Fortress is situated at a distance of 1.5 km from the town of Belgradchik, among the renowned Belogradchik rocks.
The fortress has existed since Roman times.
Visitors to the Belogradchik Rocks must walk up several levels of steps and ladders to reach the top, but the view is worth it.
The highest point of the fortress, called First Slab, reveals a beautiful view towards the Balkan.
The region is very popular among the tourists because of the beauty of the Belogradchik Rocks and the multiple historical landmarks. The Magura cave is also situated near Belogradchik, where rock paintings are preserved, dating back from various historical eras.
Travel tip : you must have Leva to pay the parking, the entrance ticket or if you want to buy some souvenirs, or food.

I recorded this video with so much love and passion in my heart. This is the city where I was born and where I was raised.
Burgas is situated on the Black Sea, in the South-Eastern part of the country. It is the fourth largest city in Bulgaria but it has a very relaxed atmosphere. There's plenty of shopping and abundance of restaurants and outdoor cafes. Although it is a large city, it definitely has a small town vibe where everything you need is nearby. Burgas consistently ranks in the top of the best cities to live in Bulgaria.

Bulgaria is an incredible country to fly in. From sand natural mountains landscapes & 'Disney like' forests to crazy nightlife in the city centers, this country has it all to satisfy an off the beaten path adventure.

After renting a car from the capital city Sofia, we headed straight to the Rila Monastery as we knew you could book a room there if you're early enough. You can inquire to book one for 10EUR (for 2) at the entrance of the museum which is at the end of your right when you enter from the main arrival parking front door. The doors close at 22h00 which gives you plenty of time to enjoy the local restaurant.. On the road to the monastery, many good restaurant are available, make sure to try their smoked trout and local potatoes (seriously the best).
Sleeping onsite, allowed us to get on track towards Seven Lakes national park early from which you can see some clips within the movie. The trek is hard but an 'elevator' exists for those wishing to save time which brings you straight to the top.
Second night was spent in Plovdiv where you will enjoy the best cocktail in your lives (trust me, I never recommend normally) at the Barber&Cat Bar where the owner will make you what he thinks is good for you (no matter what you ask him).
Plovdiv was our entrance gate towards Raisko Raskalo Waterfalls State Forest in the Eastern Europe mountains: what a place! Make sure to allow yourself a whole day for the hike towards the waterfall if you're planning to return on the same day. A little chalet can welcome you for the night up there if easier.. probably worth it but we had no idea.
On our way back to Sofia, we stumbled on several little towns including Shipka (and its golden roof church), Veliko Tarnovo (eat at Gurko Restaurant if you fancy authentic food) and finally Cherni Vit. In this last village, you can go and try green cheese, yes, green! But be sure to ask the locals where is the shop as we needed 2h to find it in this 50 inhabitant village.. Turns out its closed most of the time but if you call, the owner will come - its in front of the Hotel Cherni Vit, in the garage of the residential building in front of it.
We seriously had a great blast in the country and would recommend it anytime to anyone with or without a drone!

Bulgaria is not a big country but its landscape is incredibly diverse. Sunny beaches, green valleys, majestic mountains, beautiful rivers and lakes.
I spent two months in the country this summer and its beauty blew me away.
I visited some stunning places which I filmed with my drone for you to enjoy.
This footage is just a drop in the ocean of Bulgaria's beauty, but the places we haven't yet visited are out there waiting for us.
