Digital Nomads are flocking to Bansko Bulgaria, are Expats and Retirees next?
The Expat community is new and growing, thanks in large part to Coworking Bansko, possibly the top coworking location for Digital Nomads in Southeast Europe. Affordable with skiing, hiking, river rafting, and golf the location is nor the annual home to Nomad Fest each summer. With 550 international nomads attending in 2022, and expecting 750 for 2023 the excitement over Bansko is continuing to grow. More than 30 nomads and expats a year are choosing to buy homes in Bansko and making Bansko their home. The International Expat community of year-round residents is also seeing a sharp rise in interest.
Bansko is just now showing up on the Expat radar, it's already become a hit with the digital nomad crowd hosting the nomad fest each summer. If you're seeking an active outdoor lifestyle with skiing, snowmobiling, golfing, hiking, biking, river rafting, hot springs, and spas Bansko has it. The year-round population of 13,000 swells for nine months of the year from mid-December for ski season through mid-September, for the cooler mountain air and summer sports activities. From mid-September to mid-December, it's a slow sleepy tranquil town. Bulgaria has a low cost of living compared to most of Europe and the US, which means your dollar or Euro will take you further.
We recommend this location to healthy individuals, healthcare in the area is focused on injuries, emergencies, and common illnesses, there is not a major medical center in the area.
Bansko and the surrounding communities have a growing amount of foreigners calling the region home due to the low cost of living and quality of life. The average US Retiree on Social Security receives $1,660 a month, and a couple on Social Security receives over $2,700 a month. A US Expat living on Social Security can expect a lower cost of living in Portugal when compared to the living costs in the US.

I Moved to Bansko, Bulgaria ???????? First Impressions of a Digital Nomad
After checking the Bansko Nomad Fest, I wanted to experience the small town life of Bansko. So after the festival was done, I moved to a new Airbnb that I got for 1 month and I'd like to share my first impressions of this digital nomad experience in this beautiful mountain town.
Now that I'm here, I'm not surprised why it's starting to attract larger crowds of digital nomads, and expats. In this video, we are continuing the digital nomad/expat series as I relocate to Bansko to live and work. How cheap is Sofia? Is the cost of travel in Bulgaria cheap or is the Bulgarian Lev inflated and expensive? In this travel vlog we... ⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
Cost of travel is one of the most common questions we get, everyone wants to know how cheap is Bulgaria, or is Sofia a cheap place to travel. We share a lot of the costs of day-to-day living in our regular travel vlogs, but decided it was time to make one ultimate travel costs video.
The Bulgarian Lev is the currency in Bulgaria, not the Euro, and is pretty cheap for most people outside of Eastern Europe. We spent the day on a travel mission around Sofia to share the general daily cost of living or travel in the city. To be fair, Sofia is more expensive than our last spot (Plovdiv) but it's still a good indicator what to expect from Bulgaria as a whole.
