#271 Hey guys, come aboard with us as we get moving through onwards the Azores. It takes the whole SLV family to get ready and be sailing at all hours round the clock. And while Lenny's sailing ability is naturally limited at this young age, we expect him to be sailing us around by age 6 and we'll never have to take night shift again. In the meantime we are so blessed to have Andre crewing with us as we make it to the next island. We're headed to Terceira and its capital Angra do Heroísmo where we get to explore a stunning 500 year old town.
No adventure is complete without some food shortages, pragmatic menus and failed hunts, but that's boat life. Thank you all so much again for watching and continuing to support our adventures, and welcome into our life onboard on a crossing.

This is boat life and we're getting our life on the road again and hitting the waves. After some truly Top Gun piloting from yours truly to escape the marina, we're on our way to the next of the beautiful Azores Islands, Faial. As usual the wind is in our face and slow when we're sailing, and blowing hardest when we're on land. Boat life hey, but we've made it to the sailors paradise at Horta and we're ready to get stuck in.

A Trip to Crater Island. + boat repairs & fiberglassing of course
#269 It's certainly feeling like we're never gonna leave Ponta Delgada. This time though it's because of the mounting pile of tasks, dodgy ovens and fibreglass repairs. La Vaga is looking more like a construction barge than home right now. As much as we want a functioning kitchen, we're really itching to get out on the water again. Especially because a submerged crater is just sitting there, come on let's goooooooo.
And we have a late change to the squad: Bri is leaving us, fair winds! But Andre returns, back on the boat for our Azores adventures. Welcome back, and let's hit the water.

#275 Utterly perfect day for a spot of spearfishing don't ya think?
We get the full Azores spearfishing experience with our new doctor friends, we've traded sails for engines and we're speeding around some of the best spots here in the middle of the Atlantic. Yep there's still fish out here if you're good enough, even though Riley's having a bit of trouble and Andre's stuck his catch to the ocean floor ???? If you're ever on Sao Jorge, look out for our mate John for a tour of this wonderful island, a lovely place with lovely company. And Lenny finally gets some wheels. You bring 'em up on a boat and they want a truck. Go figure...

Double BIRTHDAY Celebrations in the Azores (BEST Weekend Ever..)
#268 Hello, yeah, look, we blew up the quadbike. Or it blew up on us. And it wasted our day. And it gave out in the middle of a highway and we nearly melted in the sun. And yet, yet, this is the Azores. And being the Azores, nothing can actually go that far wrong, because pretty much wherever you are, wherever you look, it's beautiful and green and peaceful. Keep an eye out for the only tea plantation in Europe, with some of the best tea you can get. Turns out I've been having my tea wrong all my life and there's this one weird old trick....
Otherwise we're setting up shop on Sao Miguel. We'll be staying on land for a while because we know we're gonna have to spend some serious time here and it's going to be near impossible to leave. But yeah, consider this a long-winded way of saying you're formally invited to our weekend birthday celebrations, come hang out!

We're sooooo excited to get in the air. Our friends have come to the Azores and on their expert advice we're heading to the mountainous Pico Island to get the perfect conditions to paraglide. BUT........ if there's one thing that's more weather-dependent as sailing, it's paragliding. And knowing our luck... well will we ever get in the air? What do you mean ya can't do it with clouds??

#288 Do we have our baby in Antigua? The Bahamas? Do we try to get home to Australia and pay the crazy expenses of up to $18,000 with no guarantee of getting back to the boat? We don't tend to lock a lot of things into the calendar but going back to Australia once per year to surround ourselves with close friends and family has been a really important thing for us. Home sickness is definitely a thing - for us anyway.
Having said all that, this is a global pandemic and it's effecting everyone in different ways. We're still very fortunate and can't complain. We've been doing some research and hopefully will have something worked out in the next month or so. Wish us luck!

BAD WEATHER before we embark on a voyage south. ????
#281 We're in the not-so-terrible position of being stuck on the Azores. Our old foe The Weather has delayed our departure for Madeira but nevertheless we're making the most of it. Join us for some roaming around on Faial and some of our last moments on the Azores for this trip. Lenny meets a goat and we're getting ready for returning to open water sailing. It feels good to get back to the water and be working together as a team for some serious sailing. And with all the advanced telemetry and whatnot, sometimes you just have to flip a coin to decide which way to go.

#276 It's truly one of the best walks we have done. What is this place?? We go on a massive descent down the hills of Sao Jorge, hiking on to a little surf village. The Azores have been dotted by these beautiful settlements by the sea but this one might just take the cake. Possibly because it took such a big effort to get there. The people living there are seriously remote, what a place to live.
The Azores though, seriously, nicest people you'll meet in the world. We've been helped out of a jam more than a couple times, thanks once again to the kind folk of the middle Atlantic. And thank you guys for tuning in with us today!

If you live in a vehicle and can't call anywhere home, where do you get your mail? That is a question I've been asked over-and-over again, and fortunately, there is a simple and relatively cheap and easy answer for it; you just hire a Mail Forwarder who becomes your legal mailing address and receives and holds all your mail. The Forwarder then follows your instructions about when, where and how to forward it to you. In this video, we'll tell you all about it!

The Story of the Revolutionary War Soldiers Honored at the Battle of Camden Reinterment Ceremonies????????
We recently traveled back to Camden, South Carolina to honor America's First Veterans. The recently discovered remains of 14 Revolutionary War soldiers from the Battle of Camden were to be reinterred over a weekend-long celebration of their sacrifice.
Led by Dr. Steven Smith, a research professor at the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, a team of archaeologists and forensic examiners carefully removed the soldiers' remains and transported them to a lab for further study. The team hoped to learn more about each soldier's age, height, cause of death, and battlefield trauma. The location of the graves and the dispersal of artifacts paints a vivid picture of the history of the battle itself, including the participants and the skirmish areas. Hear from the researchers and see the ceremony for these veterans.

Driving a Range Rover evoque convertible in Spain! I Eurotrip series pt 6
After partying in Ibiza we landed in the beautiful beach town of Majorca in Spain where we rented the stunning Range Rover evoque convertible! Also learnt how to captain a boat for the first time!
