About Moroni: Moroni (Arabic: موروني, romanized: Mūrūnī) is the largest city, federal capital, and seat of the government of the Union of the Comoros, a sovereign archipelago nation in the Indian Ocean. The Comoros - East Africa's Island Paradise
I spent ten days exploring the Comoros islands in East Africa (next to Madagascar), splitting my time between Grande Comore and Mohéli. On Grande Comore I visited Moroni, the beaches of the north, Lac Salé, and Chindini.
On Moheli I stayed at Laka Lodge in Nioumachoua, where I swam, snorkled with humpback whales and turtles, and enjoyed Moheli's perfect beaches. A true paradise!

I have made it safely to my 142nd country — the lovely African-island nation of COMOROS!
Nothing gets me more excited than visiting places like Comoros, which are completely hidden and overlooked by the world.
Truth be told, Comoros is booming with life and it has such a unique culture!!
Two Facebook friends, Hamza & Armel, picked me up at the Comoros main airport yesterday morning and have been driving me all over to visit the best places on the island. The people here in Comoros are so kind and welcoming, despite not speaking much English (everyone knows French as it was a French colony).
In this video, I have done my best to educate you a little bit about what life is like in Comoros. I hope you enjoy, and please, comment with any questions/thoughts/comments you may have!

A Tourists Guide to Moroni, Comoros!
I fly into Moroni, the capital of the Comoros. Unlike the Seychelles, Maldives and Mauritius, this Indian Ocean nation sees very little tourism and is one of the poorest countries on Earth.
I stay in the lush surroundings of the Istandra Beach Hotel, but take a tour of the Island's sights, including the old capital, Iconi, a wander through the markets of Moroni, and stop by a beach to watch some fishermen out in the surf. A most memorable trip.
Morning Walk around Moroni (Comoros)

We took this video during a relaxing and rejuvenating morning walk around Moroni one Saturday. Wonderful weather, sweet moist rain filled scent in the air and greenery everywhere. It took us less than 1.5 hours walking about 2.15 Km around the city with a leisurely pace. Have tried to capture most of the important landmarks as we strolled from our residence in Chateaux towards Boulevard Karthala proceeding towards the National Museum and then from there taking a right towards the port where the ancient landmark Moroni Mosques are located further walking towards the Grand Mosque circle where the video ends, although we continued to walk towards the Moroni Port passing by Komo Cash towards Asgarali and Caltex Circle.

Capital of Comoros
Moroni is the capital city of the volcanic Comoros archipelago off Africa's east coast. It is on the island of Grande Comore (Ngazidja), which is ringed by beaches and old lava from the active Mount Karthala Volcano.
Around the port, carved doors and the colonnaded Old Friday Mosque recall the city’s Arab heritage. The National Museum of Comoros has exhibitions on the nation’s cultural and natural history.

The Moroni Mosque, also known as the Friday Mosque, is a mosque located in the city of Moroni, capital of Comoros. It is part of the tourist sites of the place with its architecture and history. This mosque was built at the beginning of the Model: XIX century. The photos of 1899 of the Resident of France Pobeguin do not reveal the existence of this mosque.
It is located in the center of a district of the capital called badjanani. It is built according to an Arab-Muslim architecture. . It is like all mosques, a sacred place for Muslims, but also a tourist site. Currently, another mosque is built a few meters from it, but we still continue to maintain well and attend mass. Friday for the week, and the day of the idea for the year, are the great occasions where we can see this mosque full. Its outer color has always been white. This mosque has a large minaret that can be spotted from far away.
In several tourist guides of the Comoros, one can find a beautiful image of this mosque with its bright white color. The city of Moroni has several mosques, but this one is the most historic.
