It's our first night in Japan ever and we're staying at a CAPSULE HOTEL! The futuristic design gave me galaxy vibes. It felt like we were inside a spaceship floating among the stars.
The pods turned out to be more spacious than expected. I did not get claustrophobic, but everyone's level of comfort varies in enclosed spaces. How about the rest of the experience? Watch the full video to see the detailed tour!

It's my first time in Japan and one of the main things I wanted to do while I was here was to check out a capsule hotel. 9 hours hotel in Shinjuku was the one I heard the most about, so I was excited to try it. It only costs $40 per night which is a steal and super ideal for a solo traveler on a budget. Check out the video to see my kinda crazy night at this toyko capsule hotel.

Location: A Sketchy Capsule Hotel in Tokyo, Japan
Staying at a capsule hotel was one of the things I was looking forward to most when visiting Tokyo, Japan. Our experience staying at a capsule hotel was nothing like I expected it to be.
Please don't let this video stop you from staying at a capsule hotel next time you're in Tokyo! There are much nicer hotels, but messed up and went to the wrong capsule hotel! I found a nice one on Trip Advisor, but we put the wrong address into our maps and we ended up a super gross capsule hotel. We didn't realize we had checked into the wrong hotel until it was too late!
To stay at the capsule hotel you pay with a vending machine. We couldn't get our money back so we were stuck there for tonight. Unfortunately, they still allow smoking inside, so that didn't make our sleepless night any better. It was pretty much a nightmare experience, but we tried to make the most of it!

Wanted to see what the hype was about capsule hotels and if they were worth staying in for a night. Did this back in 2017, overall I loved them and found the experience pleasant. We did end up paying a bit more than usual for this one since we booked last minute. The location was great, right in the middle of downtown so there was a lot to do. Highly recommend staying in one if you are not wanting to spend a lot, don't mind a tiny room and sharing a few things. The experience is worth it to at least try it once.

If you don’t mind sleeping in a small space & you want to save on lodging, I recommend #9hours ( They also have other branches in Tokyo. ⏰
We reserved online & only paid 1900 JPY each (real check-in time from 12 noon then check-out at 10am). When we finally checked-in at 8PM, I was lucky enough to take some photos and videos because there were barely guests! ????
The only downside when sleeping in a capsule hotel is that sometimes, fellow non-Japanese tourists can be noisy and not really mindful of others.

This is cool capsule Hotel in Kyoto,Japan.
Featuring a spaceship-like atmosphere of clean lines and calm spaces, 9 Hours Kyoto provides unique capsule beds just a 2-minute walk from Kawaramachi Train Station. Completely non-smoking, the hotel has separate floors for men and women.
The custom-designed capsules at 9 Hours Kyoto Teramachi include a light-based alarm clock, specialized pillow and high-grade linens. Room wear and slippers are provided. Showers and toilets are shared, and the hotel offers its own Japan-made bathing amenities.
A convenience store is right next to the hotel, which is a 10-minute taxi ride from JR Kyoto Train Station. Yasaka Shrine is a 15-minute walk and Kodai-ji Temple is a 20-minute walk away.
