Camino Packing List 2018

Here's my updated packing list for the Camino Portuguese in July 2018 (the Way of St. James - Portuguese route).

I left out my guide book (as I haven't yet received the 2018 edition), and I will buy a Swiss Army Knife once I arrive in Lisbon so that I may take my backpack as a carry-on bag instead of checking it with the airline.

Men’s Ultralight Camino Norte Packing List (Summer) | Camino Norte Guide

I hiked the Camino Norte from Irun all the way to Santiago (and then all the way to Finisterre and Muxia!). I hiked for six weeks (46 days total) during June, July, and August in the summer of 2019. And it was awesome. Here's a complete list of everything I packed for my Camino in my 24L ultralight backpack.

This is my fifth time walking the Camino de Santiago, but my first time on the Camino del Norte. I’ve walked all of my Caminos with an ultralight pack (except my first one, yowza!).

I packed very similar things when I walked the Camino Frances in Autumn 2017.

Here are all my favorite merino t-shirts brands -

CAMINO DE SANTIAGO - Jakobsweg - Packing list for light travellers

I walked the camino de Santiago in 2012 with a friend of mine. We chose the Camino del Norte from Bilbao to Santiago de Compostella and walked ca. 400km. I was travelling with about 7 kilos excluding food and water.
This is a packing list for extreme light travellers who will stay in Albuerges/ Pilgrim hostels. I am a risky packer. Read up on your route and time of the year before blindly following my tips. :)

The orange bag I showed was a Tatonka 36 L Jaca Bag.
The grey backpack I showed was a Deuter 45L for women.

Almost everything mentioned in the video is linked here:

**Disclosure: This is an Amazon Affiliate list. As an affiliate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

** also the backpack is like half the price on amazon vs. REI so annoying.

Notes: I am back from my trip, I felt veryyy happy with what I brought overall. I rarely wanted for anything. One mistake I made was I had a shirt with wide armholes and got underarm chafing. Make sure to only wear shirts that don't allow skin to skin contact. Also, I added a water bottle hose that connected to my backpack and I LOVED that. I could really easily drink water whenever I wanted it. On Instagram, I showed that I brought a headlamp. I never used that once so I sent it home. Also, the soap bar that I show was not good, it dried me out real bad, so I took it off the Amazon list. I ended up buying a Dove soap bar.

Camino de Santiago Packing List 2019: SPRING/SUMMER Post Hike

This is a gear video of the gear I took with me on my 2015 thru-hike of the Camino de Santiago 800 kilometers from St Jean Pied de Port in France all the way across Northern Spain. When I was looking for resources on what to bring with me for a Spring/Summer trip back then I wished there was a video that existed that walked me through some gear choices I ended up with personally along the way. This was the most magical trip of my life, I met so many people who I have come to truly love and I hope that if you are preparing for your Pilgrimage right now that this video can help you out in some way.

If you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment and I will definitely get back to you. I love talking gear! If you are just about to leave on your Camino, let me be the first to wish you a Buen Camino, this trip will change you in the best way. If you have already completed your journey I would love to hear your thoughts on what you brought with you as well! Lastly, if you are sitting at home watching this video wondering if you can or should do the Camino, the answer is yes!. Every step of that journey good and bad felt like a dream. I’m so grateful for the people that I met along the way and the experiences I had with them, it truly will be an adventure you will never forget!

I did a podcast talking about my Journey with Actors Jerry Ferrara and Breanne Racano Ferrara that goes more into the personal details of the trip. Listen on iTunes!
