Capital views: approach into London City Airport

British Airways A318 Club World from London to New York
For many years, British Airways Flight 1 meant one thing: Concorde from London to New York. Today, British Airways Flight 1 has a different connotation. It's a British Airways A318 flying from London City (LCY) to Shannon (SNN) and on to New York (JFK). It's certainly British Airways' most unique route and, let's face it, a British Airways A318 flying across the Atlantic probably ranks up there as one of the most unique routes on the planet.

Club World is a product with many variants. And this version of Club World is unique to the Airbus A318. It's worth noting British Airways A318 Club World is a special seat design worth taking a look at in this video about British Airways Flight 1.
In the end, I'll give the experience on British Airways A318 a score. But, I'm curious to know...after watching the video, how would you rate the British A318 service from London to New York?

We fly to 20 destinations from London City Airport, perfect options for both business and leisure travel. With London City centrally located with excellent transport links, and a minimum check in time of only 15 minutes for passengers with hand baggage, it is a great time saving travel option.

It's 19 months since my last flight to London and there have been lots of changes at LCY. Let's check out the new gate seating areas and retail outlets. And the new parallel taxiway.
The Embraer 190 is my favourite short-haul aircraft. On 2x2 seating and good legroom.
And the take-off is really steep. The pilot has to keep the breaks on whilst the engines throttle up so there's enough power to lift off the short runway and clear the local buildings.

(G-LCYM) Embraer ERJ-190SR Fast departure from London City Airport and scenic arrival into Switzerland. Extraordinary sound at V1! Check out at 07:42 and leave a comment if you have any ideas what the cause of this weird sound is??
A flight video including taxi, takeoff, approach and landing of a BA CityFlyer flight on Tuesday 4th November. Another great flight with British Airways on one of their LCY routes with great service and punctuality. Quite a bit of turbulence during the stage of climbing as the captain mentioned at the beginning and a little rough on approach but a good landing into Zurich. A very comfortable aircraft with plenty of legroom however it is quite bumpy when on the ground but very quick! Fantastic, quick engine start that was clearly audible. I thought the sound on takeoff was related to a wheel brake on the left side but I am unsure so leave a comment if you have any ideas.

Impressive Landing over Central London | British Airways Embraer 190 | Berlin to London City
In my first ever British Airways review, I flew from the new Berlin Brandenburg to London City Airport onboard the Embraer 190, operated by BA CityFlyer.
I was lucky with both the weather and my seat, which allowed me to capture the best moments of landing over Central London as I could clearly spot and film a few famous landmarks from the plane.

British Airways All Business Class Jet to New York
British Airways operate an all Club World Business Class service on their sole A318 between London City and New York JFK. This is possibly the World's Smallest Commercial plane flying Trans-Atlantic. BA1 flight has the BEST service on any British Airways flight, most passengers are high net worth individual and treated like flying private jet.
The outbound route from London City requires a tech stop at Shannon, where passengers are pre-cleared for US immigration and customs, before arriving at New York JFK. Perhaps saving the best till last, it took me just 5 minutes from walking outside the plane to the street at New York JFK!
