Botswana Overland Safari | Savuti to Kasane, in the Okavango Delta | Episode 5

In this final episode of the Okavango Delta Overland Series, we pack up at the beautiful Savuti camp and start to make our way across the Chobe National Park towards Kasane.
This trip involves navigating through some really thick sandy roads, exiting Chobe at the Ghoha gate, crossing the Forest Reserve and then re-entering at the Ngoma gate. The drive along the river provides magnificent views of the Chobe river itself, and we are spoilt with beautiful sightings of Kudu, Impala, Giraffe, Zebra, Elephant, Baboon and Buffalo.
We eventually make our way into Kasane where we check into Chobe Safari Lodge for two nights - and explore the river on a sunset cruise, go tiger fishing and go on a final self drive safari to try and find the famous but elusive prides of Chobe Lions.

As our journey through this magnificent country comes to an end, we make our way back to Francistown from Kasane, and prepare for the long drive back to Johannesburg in South Africa, with one big goal in mind…to think about, and plan the next adventure!

This is the second episode in the Botswana Trip 2022 video series. In the previous episode, Francois van der Westhuizen and I spent four days exploring Khwai’s Magotho region and we had amazing leopard and lion sightings. In this episode we drive back to Maun to pick up our wifes, Tabby and Steph, and along the way spot two packs of wild dogs.

We return to Magotho campsite in Khwai for another five days and have some of the best elephant sightings of the whole trip. We also spend an unforgettable morning exploring the Mbudi River on Mokoros and end our trip with a helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta, which included a Champagne stop in the middle of nowhere!

In the next episode we drive down to Botswana’s largest and wildest game reserve, the Central Kalahari, where we spend three nights at Deception Valley.

BOTSWANA TRAVEL DOCUMENTARY | 4x4 Safari Road Trip feat. Victoria Falls

Follow us on our road trip safari through southern Africa's wildlife paradise Botswana. We drove through most of Botswana, including all the wildlife-rich areas like the Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe Nationalpark including the Chobe Riverfront and the Kalahari. We explored the Makgadikgadi salt pans in the center of the country, the Gcwihaba Caverns in the West and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the south. We also shortly ventured into Zimbabwe to marvel upon the majestic Victoria Falls. We were lucky enough to spot most of the big, and many small, animals which call Botswana home. These include elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, kudus, oryx, ostriches, honey badgers, bat-eared foxes, serval cats, warthogs, springboks, impalas and many more.

Botswana: Okavango Delta & Chobe River [Amazing Places 4K]

The Okavango Delta in Botswana is an unique wetland with permanent marshlands and seasonally flooded plains. Instead into a sea, it flows and gets lost in the vast Kalahari desert. The Delta is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Chobe River waterfront in Northern Botswana is one of the areas of Chobe National Park, rich of wild animals, and especially large elephant population.

Chobe National Park, Botswana

Although one of Botswana’s busiest parks, Chobe National Park is definitely worth a visit for its sheer number of different habitats and immense big game population.

The park stretches from the northern tip of Botswana to the outskirts of the Okavango Delta, with the Chobe River running along the border to the north, separating it from Namibia.

From the floodplains that surround the river to the grasslands of the Savuti Marsh, a unique abundance of wildlife and birdlife can be seen here. Vast herds of elephant, sometimes five hundred or so strong, frequent the water’s edge making game viewing by boat spectacular.

Botswana: Explore the Magical Okavango Delta in a Traditional Mokoro Boat

On safari through Botswana's wilderness in a dugout canoe: Rather than rumbling through nature in a noisy jeep, glide silently through the water in a traditional mokoro boat – getting closer than ever to elephants, hippos, and other animals, without disturbing them with noise, and exhaust fumes.
How would you like to observe wild African animals in their natural habitat?

Chobe National Park, Botswana - Ep. 17

Come on safari with us at Chobe National Park in Botswana. We leave the Jacana Camp on Wilderness Air and fly to Kasane, Botswana. We are picked up in Kasane and driven through the Chobe National Park to Muchenje Lodge overlooking the Chobe River. We see so many wild animals, including lions, elephants, hippos, and giraffes just to name a few. Our safari vehicle breaks down more than once leaving us stuck in the park after dark. We experience the village of Muchenje, tour a primary school and meet a group of girls with tons of personality.
