The Kingdom of Bhutan. Aerial 360 video in 4K

Don't forget that this is 360 video: you can change the angle of view. The Kingdom of Bhutan is located in South Asia, surrounded by the Himalayas. Bhutan is a very fascinating and unique country, we can talk about it endlessly. One of the most unusual peculiarities that differs it from other countries is the pursuit of happiness supported by legislation. In 1972 Bhutan's King Jigme introduced the concept of the Gross National Happiness. This measure is more important here than the Gross National Product, lying in the basis of many other countries.

The Tiny Nation Transforming the Way the World Thinks About Happiness

Dragon Kingdom - Bhutan has an unusual king, who is beginning to share power and improve education voluntarily. He's determined to put his country first.

For downloads and more information visit:

In a world where despots cling to power by any means, Bhutan's much loved King is voluntarily relinquishing control. It's part of a plan to engage with the wider world.

This tiny mountain kingdom is one of the least disturbed places on earth. Here, emphasis is placed on 'Gross National Happiness', and schools teach children to live in harmony. We are an independent kingdom with a very strong policy that preserves our environment, explains author Tshewang Dhendup. The king is widely revered across the country. He's a very humble man, explains one friend. No Swiss bank accounts, no Lear jets. Lives in a log cabin. His subjects are still coming to terms with his decision to share power. In recent years, Bhutan has started reaching beyond the mountains. But nothing is allowed to endanger its unique culture

What is BHUTAN? Inside Asia's Hidden Country

Have you ever heard of BHUTAN? It's a tiny country of 800,000 people, sandwiched between India and China in the Himalayan mountains.

I arrived here in Bhutan just 2 days ago, and it has REALLY fascinated me in terms of cleanliness, friendliness and natural beauty.

Bhutan is unique. Bhutan is innovative. Bhutan takes great measures to protect their cultural identity and natural environment, which consists of 72% forest.

There are many other things that Bhutan does, which puts them in another league when compared to the rest of the world.

BHUTAN IS THE WORLD'S ONLY COUNTRY WHO:
- has banned the sale and consumption of tobacco
- absorbs more CO2 than it gives out, making them 'carbon negative'
- largest export is renewable energy
- measures their country's prosperity by happiness, not wealth
- can sentence you to life in prison for killing an endangered animal

Protecting their environment has had a positive correlation with the happiness of its people -- Bhutan consistently ranks as the happiest country in Asia and top 10 in the world overall. Maybe the rest of the world should take Bhutan's lead?

In this video, I did my best to sum up Bhutan in less than 4 minutes. This will be the first of 5 (possibly 6) videos on the country. Stay tuned to learn more!

Mountains Of Bhutan

#bhutan #Mountain The mountains of Bhutan are some of the most prominent natural geographic features of the kingdom. Located on the southern end of the Eastern Himalaya, Bhutan has one of the most rugged mountain terrains in the world, whose elevations range from 160 metres (520 ft) to more than 7,000 metres (23,000 ft) above sea level, in some cases within distances of less than 100 kilometres (62 mi) of each other. Bhutan's highest peak, at 7,570 metres (24,840 ft) above sea level, is north-central Gangkhar Puensum, close to the border with China; the third highest peak, Jomolhari, overlooking the Chumbi Valley in the west, is 7,314 metres (23,996 ft) above sea level; nineteen other peaks exceed 7,000 metres (23,000 ft). Weather is extreme in the mountains: the high peaks have perpetual snow, and the lesser mountains and hewn gorges have high winds all year round, making them barren brown wind tunnels in summer, and frozen wastelands in winter. The blizzards generated in the north each winter often drift southward into the central highlands.

Gangkhar Puensum is the highest mountain in Bhutan and a strong candidate for the highest unclimbed mountain in the world with an elevation of 7,570 metres and a prominence of 2,995 metres. Its name means White Peak of the Three Spiritual Brothers. It lies on the border with Tibet.

The Kingdom, of Bhutan!

When you visit Bhutan, you will become one of the few who have experienced the natural charm of the first country where Gross National Happiness is deemed more important than Gross National Product. By law, at least 60% of the country must remain forested for all future generations. You will experience Bhutan’s natural wonders first-hand when travelling the mountain passes – resplendent with rhododendron blossom in spring. Botanical riches and unique mammals and birds are protected in several national parks, and a mountain trek is one of the best ways to experience the Himalaya.

Tucked away deep in the Himalayas, landlocked between the worlds two largest countries is the small kingdom of Bhutan. The land of Dragons. Boasting the worlds happiest people and surrounded by natural beauty this nation of less than a million people remains a mystery to most of the world. A complicated visa and expensive daily tourism fee makes it even more elusive. But the high value, low volume tourism model intrigued me allowing me to escape into this world of peace and brought back a sense of true discovery. About Bhutan: Bhutan, officially known as the Kingdom of Bhutan (Dzongkha: འབྲུག་རྒྱལ་ཁབ་, romanized: Druk Gyal Khap), is a landlocked country in South Asia. Located in the Eastern Himalayas, it is bordered by the Tibet Autonomous Region of China in the north, the Chumbi Valley of Tibet, China and the Indian states of Sikkim and West Bengal in the west, and the Indian states of Assam, West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh in the south and east. Bhutan is geopolitically in South Asia and is the regions second-least-populous nation after the Maldives. Thimphu is its capital and the largest city, while Phuntsholing is its financial center. Bhutans independence has endured for centuries. It has never been colonized in its history. Situated on the ancient Silk Road between Tibet, the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, the Bhutanese state developed a distinct national identity based on Buddhism. Headed by a spiritual leader known as the Zhabdrung Rinpoche, the territory comprised many fiefdoms and was governed as a Buddhist theocracy. Following a civil war in the 19th century... Definitive Cultural Tour of Bhutan

Watch this video of Mountain Kingdoms’ tour of Bhutan for a taster of some of the amazing things you can experience in this remarkable country. Take a journey through Bhutan’s main cultural sights and discover the unique traditions, culture, architecture and landscape of the mystical Thunder Dragon Kingdom.

With an abundance of cultural treasures, there is much to explore in Bhutan and probably top of most visitors’ wish list is Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest. This name derives from the legend that the Indian saint, Guru Padma Sambhava, flew from Tibet on the back of a great tiger to defeat five demons who were opposing the spread of Buddhism in Bhutan. The guru landed on the mountain at the site of the present day monastery and his victory ensured that Bhutan became a Buddhist country. Perched some 600m/2,000ft up on a cliffside, overlooking the verdant countryside of Paro Valley, Taktsang’s spectacular location makes it the must-see sight of any holiday to Bhutan.

A visit to at least one of the great dzongs of Bhutan is also an essential element in any itinerary. Dzongs have multiple roles being monasteries, fortresses and administrative centres, and are therefore central to everyday life in the kingdom. Their imposing white walls, high towers and ornate red and gold roofs have little architectural comparison anywhere in the world. Punakha Dzong, situated aside a confluence of two rivers, is one of the most beautiful and significant in all the kingdom and a showcase for Bhutanese craftsmanship.

Bhutan is renowned for its very high quality of its crafts, particularly weaving, wood carving, painting and paper making. Weaving skills are most noticeable in the traditional national dress, still commonly worn by the people of Bhutan. The men wear colourful robes called ghos whilst the women were long dresses called kiras. You may well get the chance to try on one of these during your tour or buy a souvenir or two in the craft centres.

Festivals, or tsechus, are one of Bhutan’s greatest cultural traditions and no visit is complete without seeing one of these vibrant social and sacred occasions. Whether you attend one of the small village festivals or the larger celebrations in Paro or Thimphu, the fabulous costumes, elaborate dances and colourful spectacles make for a truly unforgettable experience. It is also a chance to see the local people in their finery; socialising and having a splendid time. Archery tournaments are also great social events with all the villagers turning out to cheer on their team. Unlike our quiet and sedate version of this sport, Bhutanese archery is a much rowdier affair, with pre-event drinking and loud ‘sledging’ of opponents and celebratory singing during the games.

There is much opportunity though to enjoy peace and tranquillity in Bhutan. Gentle walks through the pretty villages and countryside will take you away from the main tourist trail and give you an insight into the everyday lives of the local people – many of whom still farm the land using traditional methods. You can also enjoy the beautiful Bhutanese landscape from the Dochu La Pass, famed for its 108 stone chortens and panoramic views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

Tiger’s Nest in Bhutan - Trekking to the SPECTACULAR Monastery on a Cliff! (Final Day in Bhutan)

Tiger’s Nest Monastery in Bhutan is one of the most famous attractions, and the beauty is mind-blowing!
►Subscribe for more videos:

On Day 19 of our food and travel trip to Bhutan, we dedicated the entire day to trekking to Tiger’s Nest Monastery in Bhutan (Paro Taktsang in Bhutanese Dzongkha), which sits literally on the edge of a cliff. The hike takes about 3 - 4 hours or so, and since I wanted to beat the main crowds, my wife and I left from the hotel quite early to get a head start. It worked out quite well, because we were some of the only people on the trail that early in the morning. The fresh air was amazing. We wound our way along the trail, and soon we could get amazing views of Tiger’s Nest hidden in the clouds and on the side of the cliff.

The trail, although steep, isn’t really dangerous in any parts, as long as you keep your eye on the trail and don’t try to get too close to the edge. At the top of Tiger’s Nest Monastery they don’t allow any photography, so you have to check in your bag. We walked around the monastery for a little while, ate some snacks, and then headed down.

Despite Tiger’s Nest Monastery in Bhutan being one of the most famous attractions and icons of Bhutan, it really is spectacular.

Round-Trip Taxi from Paro to Tiger’s Nest - 1,400 BTN ($20.99)
It’s typically recommended that you visit Tiger’s Nest at the end of your trip to Bhutan so that you acclimatize better to the elevation.

Gangtey Palace Hotel - After returning from Tiger’s Nest, we checked into the classic Gangtey Palace Hotel for our final night in Bhutan!

Bhutan is known for being the last Shangri-la, a remote kingdom hidden in the Himalayas, and a place where the modern world doesn't seem to have found its way. In fact, many people don't even know that Bhutan exists. For Bhutanese people, however, this country is much more than a mighty mountain range, it's a home.

Bhutan is a small country in the Himalayas, but its impact on the world is not small. It's one of the most serene, peaceful, and spiritual countries on Earth, and the people who live there have a very strong connection with the gods.
