The ski region at the foot of the Bettmerhorn is part of the Aletsch ski arena which extends from Riederalp via Bettmeralp all the way to Fiescheralp. The 35 lift facilities provide access to pistes for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. A snow sports school is there to teach adults and children all the right moves. Several smaller lifts in the village area make the resort particularly suitable for children. In Bettmeralp skiers enjoy the benefit of being able to ski right to their doorstep.
A good selection of well-groomed winter walking trails is available for winter hikers. The trail for the one-hour-walk to Riederalp is lit at night. For cross-country skiers there is a small circular course by Lake Bettmer as well as the extensive cross-country skiing paradise in the nearby Goms.

Summer holidays in the area of the Unesco World Heritage Site Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch are breaks in unspoilt countryside. The holiday resorts of Belalp, Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp are located in this attractive hiking area characterised by the Aletsch Glacier, the biggest glacier in Europe. The nearby vantage points Bettmerhorn (2643m) and Eggishorn (2926m) offer impressive views of the 23-kilometre-long glacier.

BETTMERALP and its panoramic Ski Resort: ALETSCH ARENA Switzerland
The ALETSCH ARENA is one of the best resorts of Switzerland… even of the Alps! It’s an arena full of fantastic panoramas over the Aletsch Glacier, the greatest glacier of the Alps, the Matterhorn as well as the iconic trio Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The Aletsch Arena also hosts one of the prettiest winter villages of Switzerland: BETTMERALP. All three stations Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp are car-free and thus great places for a relaxing holiday. Moreover the Aletsch Arena is very family friendly and also a great destination for people who do not ski. A ski pass costs around 55-60 CHF, which is very affordable for Swiss standards.
The Aletsch Arena is easy to reach: Either by car, they can be parked at Betten Talstation or by train, which directly stops at Betten station. Bettmeralp is the most popular destination to stay at, it's very family friendly and very pretty. It is often listed among the most beautiful villages of Switzerland, surely during Winter. Take the cabin ride up to the Bettmerhorn to enjoy a fantastic view over the Swiss Alps. The Matterhorn can be well seen on clear blue sky days. Very prominent in the Aletsch Arena is of course the Aletsch Glacier itself, which can be seen from the Bettmerhorn as well. There are many other view points at where you will get different impressions of the Aletsch Glacier. Bettmeralp is the largest station among all, but you should definitely visit the other two stations as well. Fiesch is very nice, especially when you go up to the Eggishorn, you will get the best panorama over the Aletsch Glacier, bernese Alps and the peaks of Valais. Riederalp is nice too but in general the least visited station. Over there you can get a nice view over the Aletsch glacier form the Moosfluh, Hohfluh and Riederfurka. You may also go for jumping on the matte to train yourself in doing tricks. The first jump is for free, subsequent jumps cost 2.- CHF. See the link below. All in all, the Aletsch Arena is a great and even affordable and even considerd being one of the BEST SKI RESORTS in all of Switzerland!

By car arrive via Brig by taking the Autoverlad Lötschberg (Kandersteg-Goppenstein) or from North via Autoverlad Furka (Realp-Oberwald).
The RAMP for JUMPING at RIEDERALP costs 2 CHF for 1 Jump, 15 CHF per day. It's open between 13:30-15:30 every day. The first jump is for FREE!

Dear Switzerland lovers and Swissies! You know - I travel a lot and work a lot to show you the beauties of Switzerland and its nature. And there are a few places I love to visit again and again.
One of these places is the Hotel Waldhaus on Bettmeralp in the canton of Valais. A few years ago, they renovated the hotel and built so-called Holz 100 rooms. With a mechanical connection instead of chemicals, or more simply: with wooden dowels instead of toxic glues, you dive into these rooms - deep into the energy and magic of the trees.
And believe me when I tell you - I can really shut down my body and mind here. The scent of wood floats towards you as soon as you enter and creates a feeling of well-being.
But it is not only the Holz 100 rooms that make your stay here so peaceful. It is the care of the hotel owners, the respect for nature that is also evident in the choice of food. Attention is paid to regionality and organic quality (wherever possible).
I have never seen an unhappy guest here. Everyone is nice and friendly to each other, as if they were all sitting in a ball of contentment.
I love this little time-out and can recommend this place to anyone who just needs a little time-out.
