SWAKOPMUND, NAMIBIA: Africa's MOST BEAUTIFUL Town? Travel Guide to ALL SIGHTS
Welcome to Namibia! And welcome to part 3 of an incredible road trip through one of the least populated countries in the world. This country about 1,5 time the size of France mainly consists of desert landscape. In the previous two episodes we traveled along the coast of South Africa from Cape Town, to visit the first highlight of the country and the absolute number one sight: the Sossusvlei. After that we drove through no man's land to the industrial port city of Walvis Bay. We spotted flamingoes crossing the dunes in the endless desert and visited pink salt lakes.
In this episode we continue the drive along the coast to another tourist hot spot on the ocean shore. The town of Swakopmund is the most beautiful preserved colonial town, with a lot of German influences. The architecture is outstanding, but Swakopmund has more to offer. It's the beating heart of Namibian culture. We also visit the National Marine Aquarium, some shipwrecks on the so called Skeleton Coast and thousands of seals at Cape Cross. Up next will be Etosha National Park for some safari drives.
Our journey through Africa is part of a one and a half year trip around the world. We can even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia and the Philippines. Zanzibar and Tanzania are already destination number 21 on the big trip. We have also been away from home for a year. Follow us on this world tour, first in Tanzania, from Zanzibar to the safari parks on the mainland and then to many more beautiful destinations in Africa!
