THIS IS AZERBAIJAN? | Baku Travel Vlog

We only had one day to spend in Baku, Azerbaijan, and we loved this beautiful city! We couldn't believe how big and modern it was. Reminds us of Dubai! Highlights of this travel vlog include a huge delicious traditional Azerbaijani lunch in an underground restaurant, getting lost in the Baku Old City, and riding a funicular to the top of the mountain to enjoy the sunset over the city. We also tried our first Turkish ice cream experience!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Baku, Azerbaijan ???????? 2018 | Top sights and tourist attractions

Baku, Azerbaijan 2018 | TRAVEL GUIDE

Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, is the largest city in the Caucasus. It is a city of contrasts, where old and new appear side by side.

The city's main tourist attraction is the Walled City of Baku - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It dates at least to the 12th century, perhaps even as far back as the 7th century. This part of town is surrounded by a fortress wall from the 12th century and is remarkably well preserved. It is easy to get lost in the charming narrow alleys, where there seem to be more cats than humans.

Maiden Tower is one of Baku's oldest buildings and definitely a must-see when in Old Town. The current structure is from the 12th century, but many historians and scientists believe that earlier structures have existed here since around 700 BC. The views from the top are amazing and definitely worth the 10 manat admission fee.

There is a lot more to Baku than the old town. Before sunset, climb the stairs leading to Upland Park. From the top of the hill, you don't just get to see the Flame Towers upclose, but also the best panoramic view of Baku. Wait here until after the sun has set and the lights of the Flame Towers go on, transforming the three buildings into giant displays.

Downtown is quite busy after dark and probably your best bet at finding a decent place to eat. From local cuisine to Hard Rock Cafe, there is plenty to see and do around Fountains Square and Nizami street.

When you walk around Downtown Baku during the day, you will notice that there are not many people around, which is not surprising with temperatures close to 40 degrees Celsius around noon. So if you like it quiet and don't mind the heat, you have the place almost to yourself.

Another part of town worth checking out is the waterfront, which - just like downtown - tends to be deserted during the day and bustling after dark. There is not a lot to do here before sunset, so it is better to come back in the evening hours when the waterfront slowly comes to life. The lack of cafes or restaurants along the coast does make this area appear a bit soulless, but the southern part of the waterfront is nice to walk around at sunset - well, see for yourselves.

Stay tuned for another video from Azerbaijan covering Gobustan National Park, the Mud Volcanoes, Ateshgah Fire Temple and more!

Baku Azerbaijan

Baku Azerbaijan Trip. September 19, 2019.

A Walk along Baku Azerbaijan Nizami Street 2019 شارع نظامي وميدان النافورات Part 1/3

A Walk along Baku Azerbaijan Nizami Street and Foutains Square

The street's history could be traced back to Baku's town-planning project of 1864. The street runs through the city's downtown from west to east. It begins from Abdulla Shaig Street, in the mountainous part of the city and ends at railroad bed on Sabit Orujov Street, near a monument to Shah Ismail Khatai in “Black City”. The total length of the street is 3,538 m.
The traffic-free segment, which begins at the Fountains Square and ends at the Rashid Behbudov Street, is commonly known as Torgovaya (the merchant street in Russian).
Nizami Street is home to various outlets, from banks to fashion stores and is one of the most expensive streets in the world. The street also accommodates the embassies of Germany, Norway, the Netherlands and Austria, as well as the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan.[1][2] The nearest metro stations are Sahil (red line, south of Nizami Street) and 28 May (both red and green lines, north of the street). َ Qouted from:

AIRPORT HEYDAR ALIYEV BAKU AZERBAIJAN. АЭРОПОРТ БАКУ 2017-04-15

Red Light District | Baku | حي الضوء الأحمر

First time in Baku, but definitely will not be the last. I love the combination of weather, food, people and the distance of travel from Dubai. Baku is very cosy and easy to get around; you could pretty much walk everywhere in central Baku but Taxis are super cheap as well. The old town is absolutely amazing and i am so glad they kept it, while building iconic structures all around it. Hope you like the video.

A Tourist's Guide to Baku, Azerbaijan 2018

From Tbilisi we fly into Baku, located along the Caspian Sea. Staying the Fairmont 'Flame' Tower Hotel affords us an excellent view of the long sweeping city coastline.

In the city, we see the giant flag, walk past the carpet museum, see the twists and turns of the old medieval walled town, which included the magnificent Maiden Tower. We catch a metro to the Heydar Aliyev Centre, and then walk back, stopping off at the sprawling central market.

All in all, Baku is a pleasing mix of new and old, mixing glitzy modern skyscrapers with ottoman architecture.
