As I promised a month ago I will start a new series, but instead of testing the middleweight I will show you the lightweight touring motorcycles. The first bike I am going to test and review is the new BMW G 310 GS. Is this motorcycle good enough to go on a long motorcycle trips? Is it ok to replace the famous GS 800 or GS 1200? Well it's about to find out.
My opinion is that this is one very nice little motorcycle. It's perfect to ride around the City or for commuting. It is not a problem to travel around the world on along trips, but you have to do it slowly. The maximum speed of this model is 135k/h and the real cruising speed is 90 to 100km/h.

After rode it more than 4,000km on the most extreme terrains you can imagine now I can share my thoughts about Royal Enfield Himalayan.

This is my video of my First Ride on BMW's G310GS, the 'Baby GS'. It was done on a bit of a whim, as my R1250GS was in for a service, and the dealer had offered me a loan bike for a few hours.
As you can probably tell, this wasn't entirely planned, but I had enough curiosity about the bike to pack my GoPro's at the last minute to give it a go. The bike is a mere £5,100 in the UK, or 30% of the cost of an R1250GS... so don't expect the same. Not even close. However, just because it's not it's bigger sibling, it's still a lot of bike for that price.
Massive thanks to the guys at Alan Jefferies South Yorkshire for letting me borrow the bike for a few hours, while they were working on mine.
Though I couldn't remember while riding, the G310GS is around 170Kg, which is 20-30kg more than a CRF250L. It didn't feel particularly heavy, but it's definitely there, and though I really liked the bike, losing 20-30Kg would have made it even better.

Royal Enfield Himalayan - Is it good for touring?
My series the best lightweight touring motorcycles continue with the model from Royal Enfield. It has very simple air cooled 400cc single-cylinder engine with only 25 H.P. In the other hand the weigh of the bike is almost 200kg, which automatically make it the heaviest motorcycle in this lightweight category. The performance it provide might be enough for raw terrains and busy cities, but I don't think that it will be enough for touring around Europe. The biggest pros of the model is the price. It is for sale in Germany for only 4,599 euro. At the moment this is the cheapest option we can have on the market. The competitors start from 6,000 euro.

Have A Look At BMW G310 GS Specifications:-
BMW has launched the G 310 GS at Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The G 310 GS is an entry level adventure tourer from BMW. It is designed to tackle the urban jungle, highways and some off-road terrain. Its stubby front beak, radiator shrouds, headlamp cowl, tank design and a luggage rack are reminiscent of its elder sibling, the R 1200 GS. Similar to the R 1200 GS, the smaller adventure tourer offers a relaxed and slightly raised seating posture, perfect for long hauls. However, this a soft roader and hence gets a set of alloy wheels, instead of spoked wheels that can tackle off-road terrain efficiently.
Powering the G 310 GS is a backwards-tilted 313cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which produces 34PS of power and 28Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Based on the same chassis as the R, the adventure-based G 310 GS employs a long-travel suspension setup. The suspension travel has been increased by 40mm as compared to the roadster for better off-road capabilities. Braking duties are handled by a single 300mm disc with a 4-piston caliper up front, while the rear gets a single-piston caliper clamped onto a 240mm disk. In contrast to the G 310 R, ABS is switchable for the baby GS. The G 310 GS employs dual-purpose tyres that measure 110/80-19 in the front and 150/70-17 at the rear. While the international models are offered in two seat options - 835mm and 850mm, the Indian variant might get a seat height of 820mm. The BMW G 310 GS will go up against the Royal Enfield Himalayan, Kawasaki Versys-X 300 and the KTM 390 Adventure, which is coming in 2019.

Why did I buy an Adventure 390? | Xpulse 200 BS6 Problems | XPULSE vs HIMALAYAN vs 310GS vs ADV390
Heading to Madurai for a PURPOSE. And, Hence Utilized the 470 KM ride to explain about WHY I GOT THE ADVENTURE 390, all of a sudden. Even while having an another adventure bike, that is, THE XPULSE 200 BS6. Talked about the issues I faced with Xpulse and explained why it was a much needed upgrade.
