5 Must-See Stops on the Sea to Sky Highway

Best Spots to Visit BC in the SUMMER! | Sea to Sky Road Trip BC | Bestie Adventure Part 1 - WHISTLER

#BestSpotstoVisitBCInTheSummer #SeaToSkyRoadTripBC #WhistlerAdventure

What’s up guys, welcome back to Dame Untamed. For those of you who are new here, my name is Nikki and this is my adventure channel. This video is taking you to some of the best spots to visit in BC in the SUMMER! Our Sea to Sky road trip of BC will surely making you want to visit if you haven't before. Our bestie adventure (part 1) begins In Vancouver, then heads off to North Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler & Pemberton! We cover a lot of ground so buckle up.

This weeks video showcases a recent visit from my best friend Lindsey ( Make sure to check out her channel!

After getting her in the car and our initial catch up, our first stop of the day was Kitsilano Beach. This is one of Vancouver's most popular beaches offering panoramic views of downtown Vancouver, Burrard Inlet, and the North Shore Mountains. A great place for a picnic, beach volleyball, basketball, paddle boarding, kite surfing, sailing and much more! A much see spot for anyone visiting the area.

If we had had a bit more time, I would have liked to stop at the Granville Island market on our way north. This is a popular indoor market with cafes, restaurants & bars, plus an assortment of gourmet food stalls & artisan boutiques. Unfortunately it wasn’t in the cards for us this time, but I highly recommend it for those visiting Vancouver and have the time for it!

After a relaxing picnic on the beach, we were off to our next destination. But first things first - we had to feed Lindsey, so we stopped for a juicy poutine as we were leaving Kitsilano.

So, we continued through downtown and decided that the west coast rainforest oasis that is Stanley Park would be our next stop. This 400 hectare urban park is located in the midst of Vancouvers city landscape and offers scenic views of water, mountains, sky and huge trees along the parks famous Seawall - everything that a tourist could want, and more. Stanley Park offers a range of unforgettable experiences for all, including the Vancouver Aquarium, beautiful beaches, local wildlife viewing, old growth forest, historical, natural and cultural landmarks, such as the First Nations totem poles, great eats and kilometres of nature trails.

It had been on my bucket list to visit “Prospect Point”. This popular viewpoint has been attracting visitors with its scenic views and rich history since 1888, when Stanley Park first opened. A great place to take in the beautiful views of the Lions Gate Bridge, watch the ships as they pass and grab an ice cream!

After visiting a few spots in Stanley Park, it was time to make our way to Squamish. And that meant, crossing the Lions Gate! Once safely across will all our limbs in tact, we stoped at Cypress Provincial Park for a panoramic view of the Greater Vancouver area.

After a quick last pit stop at The Pop Up Cypress Village to see what all the fuss was about, we were finally Squamish bound. We ordered pizza, and crashed for the night.

DAY 2

Day two began with a pit stop at Tim Horton’s (every road trip in Canada should start here!) following by a beautiful scenic drive to Pemberton. Our first stop of the day was Joffre Lakes Provincial Park. If you plan to visit this park between May & October of 2023, don’t forget to reserve your day pass online. Passed can be obtained at: The Joffre Lakes are iconic alpine lakes and are definitely worth the visit. Once you’ve enjoyed the views from the lower lake, you’ve got quite a hike ahead of you if you’re looking to hit the upper lake. The full hike is approximately 10km out and back hike, with an elevation gain of 491m. It takes about 3-4 hours total, depending on hiking ability. Back in 2012, I hiked to the middle lake and it was spectacular! Well worth the hike up if you’ve got the time.

Next, we pit stopped at One Mile Lake on our way out of Pemberton to visit the dragonflies. This lake is a great spot to relax, have a picnic, swim or just take in the beautiful views. Next, we finally made it to Whistler. We walked around the village, shopped, and ate some delicious poutine at Zog’s Dogs. Our last stop was Brandywine Falls Provincial Park before heading home. For those of you who keep up with my channel, you’ll know I recently visited Brandywine Falls on a waterfall tour of Whistler. For those interested in checking out some of the other waterfalls Whistler has to offer, check out my recent upload showcasing a few of my favourites!

This episode is enormous! Traveling from the resort town of Whistler to Jasper via the Sea to Sky Highway, stopping at the Joffre Lakes, hiking epic mountains with glaciers full of wildlife such as elk and bears and meeting up with friends along the way!

Chapters:

Introduction 0:00

Squamish & Whistler via Sea to Sky 01:57

We arrive north of Vancouver via ferry across the strait of Georgia and make our way along the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler. Our first stop on this scenic drive is in the town of Squamish where we check out the magnificent Shannon Falls and Alice Lake before taking in the beautiful Brandywine Falls and catching up with our friend in Whistler.

Whistler/Blackcomb 08:04

We board the famous gondola to the ‘Top of the world’ where we hike through the towering snow walls before taking the peak2peak gondola across to Blackcomb. There we spot a grazing black bear and get our adrenaline pumping on the longest zip line in North America.

Whistler train wreck & Pemberton 18:37

We hike out along the Cheakamus River to find an old train wreck in the forest. After exploring we head out with friends for a round of disc golf before making our way to the charming Beer Farmers Brewery in Pemberton.

Joffre Lakes to Kamloops 24:09

After a home cooked breakfast with friends in Pemberton we head out to the famous but stunning Joffre Lakes for a hike that visits all 3 stunning glacial fed lakes. Afterwards we come out of the coast mountains on a scenic drive that leads us down to Kamloops for the evening.

Kamloops to Jasper 27:56

We depart Kamloops and head for Alberta, visiting the highest mountain in the Rockies, Mt Robson along the way. We arrive into Jasper National Park where we stay with friends at the Whistlers Campground. Here we are visited by wandering Elk and their calves while being amazed by the intelligent tricks performed by our friends Border Collie Charlie.

Jasper and the Sulphur Skyline 32:06

In the morning we explore the beautiful Pyramid Lake and township of Jasper before heading north to one of the most spectacular hikes in the National Park, the Sulphur Skyline. On this trail not only do we get spectacular views but we also encounter chipmunks and herds of mountain goats along the way. We finish up by soaking in the Miette Hot Springs.

Angel Glacier 40:42

Before saying farewell to our friends and Jasper National Park we take one last hike together to the beautiful Angel Glacier near Mt Edith Cavell. Here we take in this unique looking glacier in a stunning setting before saying our goodbyes. As we continue our journey we encounter another Black Bear on our way to the Icefield Parkway.

Join us in our next episode as we head along one of the most beautiful roads in the world, the Icefield Parkway on our way to the Mountain town of Banff. After exploring town and it’s stunning surroundings we head to the nearby Lake Louise and Moraine Lake where we take on the most epic hike of our entire trip, encountering plenty of wildlife along the way (including more bears). Afterwards we leave the Rockies behind and head west back to Vancouver stopping in Yoho National Park and meeting up with more friends!
