When the winters set in Leh Ladakh, the most important question for lovers of Ladakh becomes “How to travel to Leh Ladakh in Winters??“. The roads to Ladakh are closed in winter.
Traveling on the Srinagar – Leh Highway and Manali – Leh Highway becomes very risky after the end of October because of heavy snowfall at passes, and black ice on the road. This makes the conditions slippery which skids the vehicles making driving dangerous and above all extremely harsh cold conditions with not much shelter and food at disposal, especially on the Manali – Leh Highway.
Hence, the only option to travel to Leh Ladakh in winter after October is to directly fly to Leh from Delhi and then travel within Ladakh.
If you are planning a trip Ladakh Trip in January, February, March, or April or a Ladakh in December, or November, you will have to follow this Leh Ladakh Winter Trip Itinerary.

In this video, I will show you how to plan a road trip to Spiti Valley from Shimla to Manali side. You will get to see some of the most beautiful places in Spiti Valley, such as Nako Lake, Tabo Monastery, Pin Valley, Ki Monastery, Langza, Komic & Hikkim Villages, Chandratal Lake, and Kunzum Pass. You will also learn about the best time to visit Spiti Valley, the road conditions, the permits required, the accommodation options, and the safety tips for this epic journey.
The road trip to Spiti Valley from Shimla to Manali side is a complete circuit that covers about 700 kilometers and takes about 10 days to complete. You can either start from Shimla or Manali, depending on your preference and convenience. However, I recommend starting from Shimla and ending at Manali, as this will help you acclimatize better to the high altitude and avoid AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). The route from Shimla to Spiti Valley passes through Kinnaur Valley, which is also known as the land of fairy tales. You will witness some of the most scenic views of the Sutlej River, the apple orchards, the snow-capped mountains, and the ancient temples along the way.
The route from Manali to Spiti Valley crosses over two high mountain passes: Rohtang Pass and Kunzum Pass. Rohtang Pass is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Himachal Pradesh, as it offers a panoramic view of the Pir Panjal Range and the Lahaul Valley. Kunzum Pass is the gateway to Spiti Valley from the Manali side, and it is also a sacred place for the locals. You will see many colorful prayer flags and stone cairns on the top of the pass, where people offer their prayers and seek blessings.
Spiti Valley is a place where you can experience the best of both worlds: nature and culture. You can explore the ancient monasteries that date back to more than 1000 years ago and learn about the Tibetan Buddhism that is practiced by the locals. You can also visit the highest villages in the world, such as Komic and Hikkim, and interact with the friendly people who live there. You can also indulge in some adventure activities, such as trekking, camping, rafting, biking, and wildlife spotting. Spiti Valley is home to some rare and endangered animals, such as snow leopards, Himalayan wolves, ibexes, and blue sheep.

Nowadays I am getting a lot of questions about how to plan a trip to Leh Ladakh in 2022 June or Spiti Valley in 2022 June. People want to know if Manali Leh Highway is open or not, whether Srinagar Leh Highway is open or not what about the status of Manali Kaza Road, is the road from Manali to Kaza open?
What are the current 2022 covid guidelines in Ladakh or covid guidelines to travel to Spiti Valley in 2022 June?
Many travelers are asking about should they plan the trip to Leh Ladakh in June 2022 or their trip to Spiti Valley trip in June 2022, should they wait for more things to settle, what are the covid-19 guidelines for Leh Ladakh trip, what are the Covid rules and restrictions when traveling to Ladakh or Spiti Valley in June 2022, what are some of the hardships do travelers will have to face or what are the current Leh Ladakh road status updates, Spiti Valley road status updates, etc.

Since 2021 end of the season, Indian do not need any inner line permits in Ladakh for regular sightseeing to places like Pangong, Nubra, Tso Moriri. You just need to pay the Ladakh Ecology Fee on the website and carry the receipt of it.
