Antigua Guatemala Travel Vlog | Giving Back With Travel (1 LIKE = $1 for Charity)

Welcome to my Antigua, Guatemala travel vlog! In today’s video I will be taking you all around the beautiful colonial town of Antigua and showing you why Antigua, Guatemala is the best town in Central America. I will show you what to do in Antigua, Guatemala and all of the best places to visit in the city. I visited Antigua, Guatemala in April of 2021 and fell in love with this incredible place, so I wanted to share a full travel guide with you guys. Antigua is a small colonial town surrounded by volcanoes and mountains in southern Guatemala. Antigua is home to colorful buildings, beautiful churches, cobblestone streets, and friendly locals. Antigua, Guatemala has a special charm that can’t be explained, and can only be experienced.

To start off the morning, I visited the Santa Catalina Arch, which is the most iconic place in all of Antigua. It is a beautiful yellow arch over a cobblestone street, surrounded by tons of colorful buildings, cafes, restaurants, and shops.

After walking around the Santa Catalina Arch, I strolled around Parque / Plaza Central. This is the main square in Antigua and is where tons of locals meet to chat and relax. Parque Central is home to beautiful fountains, tons of greenery, and is surrounded by beautiful churches, colors, and cafes.

After a quick stop at Parque de la Union, which is another beautiful park in Antigua, I went to a typical Guatemalan Bakery for breakfast. For ~$2 USD I got a delicious and authentic baked good.

After trying out an authentic bakery, it was time to head over to one of Antigua’s many cafes. I went to Rooftop Antigua / Bella Vista, which is a hidden cafe above a store that has a rooftop with incredible views of the city and the surrounding volcanoes.

Next, I visited Convento Capuchinas, which is an old convent and church. Convento Capuchinas is an incredible place to explore, learn a little bit about Antigua's history, and soak up some natural beauty.

A bit later I stumbled upon the Artisanal Market of Carmen before eating some delicious Guatemalan food at Rincon Tipico. Rincon Tipico has great authentic food with tables situated in a quaint and quiet courtyard.

After filling my belly with amazing food, I walked around the main Market of Antigua and visited the Iglesia de la Merced, which is one of the most famous churches in Antigua. The main Market of Antigua has everything you need, from food to clothes to all of your household necessities.

As I mentioned toward the end of my video, one of my goals for 2021 is to donate more of my time, money, and energy to those in need. Specifically, I want to donate and raise $10k for charity in 2021. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to travel and explore the world and I want to utilize my YouTube Channel not only to share the world with you all, but also to help make our world a better place. My CRAZIEST Travel Experience | Volcano Acatenango Guatemala

Welcome to Volcano Acatenango Guatemala! In this Guatemala travel vlog, I take you with me on my craziest travel experience as I summit Volcano Acatenango in order to see incredible views of Central America’s most active volcano, Volcano Fuego. During this experience I saw LAVA for the first time, which ended up being one of the craziest experiences of my life.

Volcano Acatenango is located in southern Guatemala, about 1 hour away from the beautiful colonial town of Antigua. Volcano Acatenango is about 4,000 meters, or 13,000 feet, above sea level, so it is quite the hike up to the summit. But, hiking Volcano Acatenango is well worth the effort. Not only did I see an incredible sunrise and sunset, but I got to see Volcano Fuego up close!

Volcano Fuego is an active volcano that erupts every ~30 minutes. During the day, Volcano Fuego emits large grey clouds of smoke into the air. But, at night, Volcan Fuego erupts huge amounts of bright red lava. These explosions were HUGE and like nothing I have ever seen before. It was a magical experience.

If you visit Guatemala, I would highly recommend summiting Volcano Acatenango to see the incredible Volcano Fuego erupt, you won't regret it!

Traveling During Covid 19 Vlog | Flying to Guatemala in Central America During Covid 19 (2021)

In today's vlog I will be traveling during covid 19 and flying to Guatemala in Central America in 2021. I know traveling during covid 19 can be very complicated, so in this video I take you with me as I embark on my next journey to Guatemala! In this flying during pandemic vlog, I will show you my entire travel experience flying to Guatemala in 2021, from getting through the airports to explaining everything you need to know to ensure that you follow all of the proper entry requirements to avoid quarantine upon arrival, or worse, get denied entry. I will also explain how I conduct my research to make sure that I have all of the necessary information before traveling abroad. I hope you enjoy this covid travel vlog and find it useful for your future trip.

Based on my experience in April of 2021, in order to enter Guatemala from the United States, you will need to complete 2 primary tasks. First, you will need to get a negative covid-19 test within 72 prior to your departure. This test must be either a PCR or Antigen test. Based on my research, if you have been fully vaccinated for more than 2 weeks prior to your departure, you may not need a negative covid test, but I chose to get a negative covid test anyways to be extra safe and to ensure I would not have any issues getting into Guatemala. In addition, you will need to complete the Guatemala Health Screening Form within 24 hours prior to your departure. As always, I would encourage you to conduct your own research as well to ensure you are following all of the necessary requirements, especially since they could change by the time you travel.

Visiting the Most Beautiful Lake in Central America | Lake Atitlan Guatemala | Guatemala Travel Vlog

In this Guatemala travel vlog I will be visiting the most beautiful lake in Central America. Welcome to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala (Lago de Atitlan Guatemala)! In this Guatemala vlog, I will show you four different towns on this beautiful lake. On my first day, I explore the tranquil town of Santa Cruz (Santa Cruz La Laguna), where I meet some friendly locals and wander through the town’s green hills and colorful buildings. After exploring Santa Cruz, I take the boat, also called the lancha, to the biggest town on Lake Atitlan, Panajachel (Panajachel La Laguna). Panajachel Guatemala, or as the locals call it, Pana, is a bustling town filled with tons of markets, shops, restaurants, and nightlife.

On my second day on Lake Atitlan I explored the towns of San Marcos (San Marcos La Laguna) and San Juan (San Juan La Laguna). San Marcos is a beautiful small town known for its hippy atmosphere and chill vibes. San Marcos is home to tons of health focused stores with lots of organic, vegetarian, and vegan cafes and restaurants. San Marcos is also home to Cerro Tzankujil, which is a nature reserve great for a hike with beautiful views of the lake, and even a cliff jumping spot if you are in search of an adrenaline rush.

After visiting San Marcos, I took the boat to potentially my favorite town on the lake, San Juan. If you visit Lake Atitlan, I would strongly recommend making the trip to San Juan. San Juan is less visited by tourists and is a beautiful town with incredible mountain views and some of the most colorful streets and buildings I have ever seen. The streets are filled with bright colors and tons of art murals. Walking around the streets of San Juan will most definitely put a smile on your face.

I hope after watching this Guatemala travel video, you can understand why so many people believe that Lake Atitlan (Lago de Atitlan) is the most beautiful lake in Central America. It is a place I would highly recommend when visiting Guatemala!

Ep15 - SECRET HIKE near Antigua! (El Cucurucho @ Finca el Pilar)

Episode 15 - Finca el Pilar (Cerro El Cucurucho Hike) - Antigua, Guatemala

Trying out a different style of video today, more of a silent, peaceful & tranquil trek through nature.

We found ourselves slightly off the beaten path as we caught a tuk tuk a few minutes outside of Antigua, to the awesome rainforest / jungle hike at Finca El Pilar. The highest point of this trek, the Cerro el Cucurucho hike was super steep and difficult, but we were rewarded with some ridiculous views...

Hiking The Acatenango Volcano in Guatemala

We made it to Antigua Guatemala, the fronttown of the famous Acatenango volcano. Mostly known for being next to the active Fuego!

** Turns out it is not the highest volcano of Guatemala, but it still was quite high! ;)

Together with CA travelers we climbed the 3976m high giant. And what an experience this was! Straight up the volcano, sleeping next to the erupting Fuego and doing a sunrise trek the next day all the way to the top!

I can only recommend this hike!

I went to Guatemala’s Poorest Region to see What Life was Like

In this series, we'll be exploring the outskirts of the Central Guatemalan highlands, which is the poorest region in all of Guatemala. Instead of staying in the city of Coban, I'll be venturing out into the villages to see what life is like. The villages around this area are never visited by any tourists, so this was where authentic culture was to be found.

It just so happens that this region is inhabited by one of the 22 Mayan groups in Guatemala called the Qʼeqchiʼ Mayans, who speak their own language.

I found a village on Google Maps called Campat. I know no one there, how to get there, or even what was there. But I wanted to see what life was like in this impoverished village, to see how people live.

*This is not poverty porn, but rather an in-depth look at how the marginalized live in Guatemala, in hopes to understand a way of the unknown.

Welcome to rural Guatemala.

The Next BALI, Indonesia | El Paredon, Guatemala (Guatemala Vlog 2021)

Welcome to the next Bali, Indonesia! In this video, I take you to the small town of El Paredon, Guatemala on the Pacific Coast, which I think will be the new Bali in 5 years. After visiting both Bali and El Paredon, I noticed a lot of similarities and I think that the beautiful town of El Paredon could very well become the next Bali in the coming years. El Paredon reminded me of what Bali would have been like before all of the tourists started flocking to this tropical island in Indonesia rather than Bali 2021. This is not a Bali vlog or a video about traveling Bali, but rather the beautiful town of El Paredon, Guatemala!

In this Guatemala Travel Vlog, I will show you exactly why I think El Paredon is going to become the Bali of Central America. Similar to Bali, Indonesia, El Paredon has a warm and tropical climate with both a dry and rainy season. Both Bali and El Paredon are home to incredibly friendly locals, delicious food, and beautiful black sand beaches great for surfing. I really think that Bali living 10 years ago would have been very similar to living in El Paredon, Guatemala right now.

In this travel vlog, I take you with me as I eat an authentic Guatemalan breakfast and go to an authentic bakery. At this bakery, I end up making friends with the local owners and help them make some traditional pastries, called Pan Dulce, which translates to Sweet Bread. After breakfast, I take you back to my accommodation in El Paredon and show you why it reminds me so much of my trip to Bali, Indonesia 4 years ago. This place has a beautiful blue pool, tall palm trees, sleek white walls, hammocks, and an overall great atmosphere. After taking you to my Bali style accommodation, I show you one of El Paredon’s newest cafes, where the design and atmosphere was inspired by the owner’s previous trip to Bali.

To end the vlog, I show you one of El Paredon’s magical sunsets on the black sand beach before taking you to eat some street tacos for dinner. If you visit Guatemala, making the trip to El Paredon is an absolute must!

Typical Antigua Guatemala Breakfast - Panza Verde Style

Since we have started preparing and packing for our move on the north side of Antigua Guatemala in 2020 cooking at home has been less frequent. Today I was going to make oatmeal (avena in Spanish) but it is already in the new house.

I headed out to a spot I have been meaning to try named El Sabor Chapin just west of Parque Merced. This is a typical Latin American breakfast for Guatemala.

Travel Vlog Lake Atitlan 2022

Lake Atitlan Guatemala Travel Vlog

Guatemala has long been known for its beautiful lakes and volcanoes, but now it’s becoming a destination for travelers looking for adventure. Lake Atitlán is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Central America.

Lake Atitlán is located in Guatemala’s highlands region. The lake covers approximately 6 square miles (15 km) and is surrounded by lush tropical forests. It contains a variety of wildlife, including birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals.

Lake Atitlán offers visitors a unique experience. From May through October, the water level drops dramatically, exposing underwater caves and creating stunning views of the surrounding mountains. In addition, the area is home to several indigenous communities who live off the land.

Guatemala has some wonderful places to visit, from beautiful lakeside villages to ancient Mayan ruins. Lake Atitlán is no exception. The town of Panajachel is one of the largest and the one we recommend to set base for first time travelers.

In this Lake Atitlan Travel Vlog we visit 3 cities around the lake: Panajachel, San Pedro and San Juan during our 18-day stay in Guatemala.

It Was A Tough Trek, But Was All The Effort Worth It? - ACATENANGO VOLCANO, GUATEMALA

Read all about my adventures in the travel memoir Beers, Tears & Broken Veneers available to buy right here on Amazon:

From ADVENTURE SEEKERS to run of the mill BACKPACKERS, everyone wants to SUMMIT ACATENANGO VOLCANO when they visit GUATEMALA. Its a TOUGH CLIMB, believe me, I've done it. STEEP unrelenting TERRAIN, unpredictable WEATHER (RAIN, HIGH WINDS etc) and then there's the early rise to complete the last leg of the JOURNEY. But is it all worth it? Lets find out as I take you through the adventure of a life time.

The most popular route to do ACATENANGO is coming form ANTIGUA which is exactly what I did, but its possible to come from other locations in Guatemala. One of the most important pieces of ADVICE I can give you is choose your TRAVEL AGENCY very carefully. There are literally dozens of travel agencies offering the Acatenango tour, some of them will be very cheap and that will tempt you to go with them. You are climbing up a VOLCANO, don't be cheap, be sensible. I ended up choosing CA TRAVELERS, they were recommended through my GUESTHOUSE. Yes, they were slightly more expensive than other AGENCIES in the area but CA Travelers had a good reputation. I have heard stories of people going with cheap tour agencies and not been given sufficient supplies and food to complete the trip. CA had one price and they provided everything that you needed (GUIDES, TRANSPORTATION, TENTS, SLEEPINBG BAGS, GOOD, GLOVES, HEAD LAMPS, SHOES, JACKETS). A very professional service and I would highly reccomend using them if you do chose to tackle the volcano.

I have done several epic TREKS in ECUADOR, including the QUILITOA CRATER LAKE. This volcano HIKE was the toughest thing I have done in my life. I am by no means the fittest person in the world, but I'm certainly not the worlds biggest slob. This was tough, really tough. You don't have to be a track and field ATHLETE to complete this but you will need some level of fitness. Also you may be affected by dreaded ALTITUDE SICKNESS. I was okay (6 months in Ecuador had prepared my body) but here were others in my group who had terrible headaches and they had to rest frequently. Be warned!!

We were picked up from our respective HOTELS And GUESTHOUSES in Antigua and then taken to the Head Quarters of CA Travel. There we were given all the additional supplies needed for the trek. Let me tell you, this additional supplies will add about 10kg to your already bulging BACKPACK. One additional service and charge that will be offered to you is a GUIDE who will carry your backpack for you (one way), I think the price is between 100 to 150 q's. If you are in any doubt about your ability to complete the volcano trek I would highly reccomend this service. My backpack weighed about 20kg with all the extra equipment and supplies. I paid for this service and believe me it made my life easier. Plus the money goes towards the guide and his family.

Once you are kited up and out you will be driven about 30 minutes to the base of the volcano. There will be locals who will offer you climbing sticks, 10 q's for both, take them, they are invaluable. Once your legs get tired you will be unsteady on your feet, they really help with your balance. I could only take one because I was filming and needed a free hand, but I wish I could have taken 2.

And then its time to rock and roll. You will trek roughly 6 - 7 hours to the base camp near the top of the volcano. I think its about three quarters of the way there. Its a tough climb. You will get several breaks along the way which is mandatory. The temperature will drop significantly as you get higher. Wear layers and I would also reccomend a woolly hat, especially if you are like me and have no hair. While we are on recommendations don't wear trainers, wear climbing boots that cover your ankles. The ground is very gravely, if you are wearing trainers they will fill with stones and you will be stopping every three seconds.

The food that you are given by CA Travelers is epic. The lunch that we ate about half way through the climb was just epic: a huge piece of chicken, rice and salad. Just what you need and you will burn it off in no time. You will also have supplies for dinner at night and breakfast.

We reached base camp just before it got dark. There are two man TENTS set up with SLEEPING BAGS and they are very cosy. After sleeping for 6 hours you are woken up at 4am and you will continue the rest of the hike, this is the toughest part. The ground is covered in gravel and its constantly moving under your feet. Really tough terrain.

Was it worth it, ABSOLUTELY......I just wish the weather was better so I could have got that epic SUMMIT shot.
