Welcome to Andros! The Real Bahamas
A short clip that sums up our entrance into the beautiful island of Andros, Bahamas. After taking the 10-minute hopper and arriving at Fresh creek, a walk down the dock and we are greeted by two 6 lb bonefish looking for crabs while a fella handlines a jack, fillets him up, and feeds the sharks his carcass! There is no other experience like the real Bahamas experience.

We visited Androsia, a famous clothing company here in Andros. We stopped and explored many blue holes. The boys were not prepared with swim suits and all, but that didn't stop them. They jumped right in. We are very proud of Chase, who has never jumped from a high cliff or distance. He jumped in so fast for that $5, it was almost worth more.
We are a family of 5 from Texas who sold everything in May of 2019 to buy a boat, and cruise fulltime. We have been all over Florida and the Bahamas. We have seen the highs and lows of boatlife. ???????? CRAB N DOUGH: Break the legs and remove them from the crab’s body
In a pot, add crabs then place dough. Combine flour, baking powder and salt, mixed with water. Make a firm dough. knead well and allow to rest 10 minutes. In a large pot, add a cup of water seasoned with salt, add pepper, and bring to a boil. Flatten dough and place over the crab. Cover the pot, boil on medium heat for 20 – 25 minutes without opening the pot.

Andros Bahamas - Voyage to the West Side
On the way back to Bimini from this year's trip to the Exumas, Corrie and I decided to try a new route by cutting through the center of Andros. So instead of heading up through the Exuma Cays toward Nassau, we left Staniel Cay and went directly across to South Andros where we stayed one night at the new Caerula Mar Club. The next day we left Driggs Hill Government Basin dock and started toward the North Bight. Andros has three bights that divide the island and consist of a maze of islands and extremely shallow water. Everyone I spoke with before the trip said it was a crazy idea and the locals had genuine concern on their faces when I said I was crossing the bight and heading up the West Side of Andros to Bimini. We decided to go anyway. Our voyage across the island and up to Bimini began that afternoon when high tide gave us our 2 foot of draft depth. We used the drone to help navigate and find deep water and successfully completed the 30 mile Andros crossing in about 2.5 hours.

Life in Red Bays, Andros Island, Bahamas
While shooting an episode on sponges, the Changing Seas team was given a tour of North Andros by local sponger Fritzgerald Taylor. Sponging is a tradition on the island, with three different commercially viable species collected on the Great Bahama Bank. The sponges are cleaned and dried before being sold to a wholesaler that ships them to markets all over the world.
