This time it drove us to the heart of Germany. We've heard of a traditional firm that was abandoned after 200 years of production. In the past, porcelain was manufactured in there. According to rumors all the factory halls are supposed to be full of the so-called white gold. And in fact, we couldn’t believe what we found inside. From casting mold to the finished tableware everything was left behind!

In the final episode of our Italy series we’re exploring one of the most unique abandoned places you can imagine. From the highway we were spotting two derelict planes which were apparently part of a once popular restaurant. Follow us while we’re revealing the history of the impressive compound. And be there, when we trigger multiple alarms and get caught by the military police… This was literally the worst ending for our trip! But see for yourself.

Surrounded by many people this former magnificent building is growing lonely downtown. This place is an unusual example for postmodern architecture and unique in whole Eastern Germany. A community center of superlatives has been developed under the ground many years ago. Citizens met here for bowling and other leisure activities and they finally had a shining counterpoint against dreariness and decay. Built during the time of the former German Democratic Republic this house was considered to be a sudden desire for change but over the last few years it slid into obscurity. Today the area is rotting away. So it’s up to urban explorers like us to bear this symbol for secret resistance in remembrance.

“Shoot!” This was literally our immediate thought when we arrived at the first destination of our urbex road trip in Austria. It seemed like some construction workers were in attendance at that day. To abort the mission was not an option. Our way to get to this place was far too long to simply relinquish now. This former home for blind people is a huge building complex and as it seems the workers were only active in the front area. So instead of entering from the front we approached from behind through the woods.

In today’s episode, we are exploring a widely branched network of cellars located deep under a major city. These vaults are the last remaining sections of a historic market hall which was built in the 19th century and demolished some decades ago. Only a few meters above this relict of former times people are going on with their daily routines, having no idea what spectacular views are down here. In some cases multiple-centimeter-thick and many meters long roots extend across the underground. Until this day we hadn’t set eyes on something like this!

“An ugly concrete block.” This is what this former church is being called. And yet it is really interesting. Simply because this place is so distinctive from other sacral buildings. These photos were shot around a month before our exploration of the site. But also only a few weeks before an arsonist caused a fire brigade operation at the former house of God. In the hope that the flames didn’t destroy everything, we travelled to this unusual church this summer.

A former military hospital protected by security. It wasn’t easy to get in here unnoticed. Although this huge building complex has been vacant for some years now there is still a vast number of medical equipment inside. To our astonishment even the electricity was working in some parts of the medical center. In other parts of the house vandalism already gained the upper hand. That’s probably the reason why security is patrolling on the premises now – a security which we even got to know at the end of our exploration.

In the course of documenting the decay of human civilization we came across this abandoned clothing factory. If we hadn’t seen the interior with our own eyes we wouldn’t have believed that something like this is even possible. Floor by floor we ascended this tremendous building. And we couldn’t stop being astonished. We already knew that this place is unique but what we discovered here exceeded our wildest expectations. It was like people simply forgot that this factory even existed.

This massive abandoned building complex had been on our urbex bucket list for years. Once, this first class hotel was an important figurehead for the city. But these glamorous times have passed. During our urbex road trip in Austria our local friends lead us to Clinic Moss. It should become the highlight of our journey. The power was still on. And there was running water, too. It’s astonishing to see an abandoned place in such pristine condition although the mailbox was opened the last time 15 years ago. You won’t find any vandalism here. The whole interior is very clean and the name “Clinic Moss” is actually misleading. At least when you’re exploring the main building. Because there’s a second part of the house which distinguishes itself very much from the first one.

Abandoned Mental Asylum from 1930 / Urbex Lost Places Italy
This abandoned asylum was built in the 1930s and abandoned in the late 70s. Not only are there various things left behind, but there is also a giant auditorium and an interesting history to the place.

As if we were exploring a ghost town. At least it felt like that when we were visiting a vast abandoned industrial area on day two of our urbex road trip in Austria. Once, this was one of the biggest gas works sites in the region. Today the compound fallows and nature is winning back what was once hers. We are one of the last people who will be able to see the site with their own eyes before there will be a massive change shortly.
