Paris, France: Rue Cler Street Market - Rick Steves’ Europe Travel Guide - Travel Bite

Watch the full episode: Rick tags along with a Parisian friend as she shops for a dinner party along Rue Cler, an atmospheric market street in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. The metropolis is peppered with pockets of what you could call village Paris: neighborhoods that retain a small-town charm, where you can sample the Parisian love and appreciation for community. That's especially true in the fresh-food purveyors that line Rue Cler, as shopping for groceries is the backbone of daily life in Paris. Rue Cler's small specialty stores are brimming with fresh produce, meat, bread, seafood, and smelly cheese, providing a feast for the eyes and nose as well as the stomach. And don't forget the wine — an essential part of any French meal. Bon appetit! More info about travel to Paris: #ricksteveseurope #ricksteves #paris

This Parisian Market is Over 400 Years Old! FOOD TOUR & Shopping at a French Flea Market

Today we explore markets in Paris! First we grab a multi-course breakfast at Marché des Enfants Rouges, which is said to be the oldest covered market in Paris. They have stalls selling fresh produce, seafood, and prepared meals of varying cuisines.

Originally called “Marché des Portes Saint-Martin” when it opened in 1615, the market later became Marché des Enfants Rouges to honor the nearby orphanage that dressed its children in red. The literal translation of the market’s name is “Market of the Red Children.”

Then we check out a flea market called Brocante de la Rue de Bretagne. At the time, there wasn’t much information about this flea market written in English. But from what I translated, Brocante de la Rue de Bretagne is held twice a year in the Marais district. So we were very lucky to have encountered it. So many vintage treasures and unique items! If I lived in Paris, you bet we would’ve had a huge haul :)

At the flea market, we spoke with a local who gives us a restaurant recommendation. We decide to give their recommendation a try! We take a scenic stroll through the streets of Paris and step onto an island on the Seine River. Feel free to refer to the video chapters below for your convenience:

My Trip to Paris IV - Farmers Market & Versailles

Saint Mandé farmers market, a popular outdoor produce market near the 12th arrondissement in Paris, has a lot of fresh food, fish, meat, rotisserie, cheese, olives, cookies, flowers, etc. It is a vibrant place that awakens all your senses and makes you imagine all the dishes you could prepare with all these fresh ingredients. We bought bread, great french cheese and fruit, and head towards Versailles for a picnic!
The Chateau of Versailles is one of the most beautiful places I have seen in my life. It is a magnificent palace that takes you back in time where the kings of France lived in extreme luxury.
I hope you can visit both places if you come to Paris.

In this new web series from MessyNessyChic, Nessy takes us on a nostalgic Parisian adventure to curious places, past and present. Episode 1 begins at the legendary Parisian flea market.

PARIS MARKET TOUR - Avenue President Wilson Market

One of our favorite parts about living in Paris is access to the fresh, open air markets. Today, we are taking you for a tour through our old neighborhood market, and one of the best in Paris, the Avenue President Wilson Market.

Doug will give you lots of tips and information about all of the main vendors - the meat, fish, florist, fruits and vegetables, fresh food ...everything you need to know and more! And it still won't be enough! He wants to go back again soon because he knows he didn't tell you everything the first time.

You'll find chapter markers below for easy navigation if there's something in particular you wish to jump to.

Don't miss our Picnic video with more market finds, including how much I paid for the crazy bread. And we also have a market section in our Bike Tour Video with different information. Check it all out!

Please let us know if you enjoyed the video by giving a thumbs up, commenting or subscribing for more Paris content. During the past several months while our client bookings are still thin, we've been keeping ourselves busy by trying to bring Paris to you! We're exploring our video style so we'd love to hear what you like and want to see more of! Check out our other videos too and escape to Paris.

And oh, by the way, we're also Paris Photographers, so when you do schedule your own Parisian adventure, let us know, we'd love to take pictures of you and your loved ones! ;)

PARIS WALK | Street Market by Eiffel Tower from Bir-Hakeim Metro | France

A first-person perspective Paris walk tour along Quai Branly’s street market, from Bir-Hakeim Metro to the Eiffel Tower.

See all the sights as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of Paris, featuring the Eiffel Tower from from Bir-Hakeim Metro. The tour begins across from Bir-Hakeim Metro on Boulevard de Grenelle, then turns onto Quai Branly, traveling along the street until the Eiffel Tower, where the tour concludes.

Sights seen along the tour include various street food, market stalls, street sellers and artists, and the area around the base of the Eiffel Tower, which unlike years gone by, is now cordoned off.

Footage recorded August 2017.

In each video I've added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes – it could be on a building, vehicle or anything else, so keep an eye out for it!

The Perfect Market Street to Call Home in Paris

Heading to Paris? Rue Cler is the perfect, traffic-free market street to call home for a few days. I do almost every year — and it just gets better and better.

Our guidebook ( features lots of hotels and restaurants on Rue Cler, and I’m putting together a guided walk down the street for my free Rick Steves Audio Europe app (

I shot this nine-minute blitz as a tool to help write the walk accurately when I get back to the office. While it’s pretty long, I figure some of you might enjoy a quick, ad lib tour down a small lane in a great city. This clip is your chance to take a walk down Rue Cler with me and decide if you want to call this slice of Paris home for a few days.

(This is Day 56 of my 100 Days in Europe series. As I travel with Rick Steves’ Europe Tours, research my guidebooks, and make new TV shows, I’m reporting on my experiences across Europe. Still to come: Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany, Switzerland, and more. Follow along at

PARIS MARKET France

This week we discovered not one, but two amazing artisan markets in Paris that are blocks from our apartment. This discovery led to an adventure to find another fedora for Tony. Did Tony find another hat? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, it was fun!!

And for those who have made suggestions about the sound, we invested in a gimbal and wireless lapel mics this week, but we are still learning how to use them ????

We hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed making it for you ????

Follow our journey moving from the USA to France as we take the next year to decide where in France we're going to live. We will be sharing it all with you, the places we'll stay, the experiences we'll have and the beautiful sights and scenes of France.
