Avoid Hustlers at The Pyramids ????????

After spending the night in a luxury hotel room, with an incredible view of The Great Pyramids of Giza, it was time for me to venture out to have a closer look at these incredible ancient structures.

The entrance to the pyramids complex is very close to Mena House, where I was staying, but I still had to do my best to avoid getting hustled on the short walk to the ticket office.

There is an area, right next to a police checkpoint, that's used as a car park for rickshaws, camels and horses. Men stand outside, trying to convince you that is the place to buy your entrance ticket to the pyramids. It's not. It's the place where these scammy hustlers try to sell you overpriced camel and horse tours.

I avoided those scammer's trap and made it to the real ticket counter, where things were well organised. I walked straight up to the counter and bought my ticket for 200 EGP ($11 USD / £9 GBP roughly, at today's rates.)

You can also buy tickets to enter 2 of the 3 main pyramids. I've visited the pyramids before and been inside one of them, so I didn't think it was worth doing it again. There's nothing inside them. Just some small dark empty rooms. It's also forbidden to take photos or videos inside there.

As I entered the pyramids complex, several men tried to give me gifts. I put the word in quotes because they're not really gifts. It's common practice for these guys to give you a cheap cloth headscarf or little trinket as a gift for welcome you to Egypt and then demand money from you.

I avoided these hustlers near the entrance and was able to explore around the pyramids complex for a good while without getting hassled. The ratio of hustlers to tourists wasn't too bad. There seems to be enough tourists to supply each hustler, so they aren't too sticky. When you brush them off, they just wait for the next tourist, rather than following you and hassling you.

I did fall victim to one scam artist of a hustler though. I saw a camel with a tattoo and asked the owner about it. He gave me a stick and told me to hold on to it. That was to keep me there while he finished up with his previous customer, who had jumped on the camel to get a photo taken.

The camel man told me he wanted to take a photo of me on his camel. I asked him how much that would cost and he said Whatever you want to give me is no problem. I asked if 20 was acceptable and he agreed.

As soon as I got on the camel and handed him my photo to take photos, he demanded that I put my GoPro camera away. He wasn't even satisfied with me putting it in my pocket. He wanted me to put it in my bag.

His reason was that it was somehow a problem for the police, which is total nonsense. It was a problem, only for him, because he was planning to scam me and didn't want to be exposed.

The scam was that he didn't just want to take a photo. He wanted to take a bunch of photos and force me to go for a ride around. I kept demanding that he stop and let me off the camel but he refused. I knew how this was going to turn out and that the longer I was on the camel, the more money he'd be demanding from me, so I just kept yelling, telling him to stop. Eventually he let me down.

Remember the 20 that we agreed I would pay him? I tried to pay him 50, acknowledging that he took more than just the one picture, but he was very angry, telling me that 50 is nothing and that I should pay him 200 - 300 Egyptian Pounds or give him some American money.

It was only when I pulled my camera back out that he was friendly again and agreed to accept the 50. When he thought it was just me and him, he was his mean, scammy, horrible self. What an awful man, a scammer and a disgrace to his country.

Thankfully, after that experience, I did find an honest camel man. He took me on a full tour for 1 hour and helped me take some better photos, for only 150. That shows how cheeky the first guy was demanded 200 - 300 for a few minutes being forcibly led around.

The honest camel man's name is Hamdi and his WhatsApp number is +201222893392

Vietnam $2 Street Shave Hanoi ????????

■ HANOI, VIETNAM: As I was making a street tea video in the centre of Hanoi I stumbled upon an old temptation of mine which made me reminisce about India: a street barber. Not just that, this barber was female! Something I've never seen this before as this is a heavily male dominated profession.

The only problem was I don't want to cut my hair and I also didn't even have a 2 day beard to shave! The only thing the barber could go to work on would be my treasured precious goatee!!!!

So what was a straight white male to do? ????

Dilemmas dilemmas.....

ABANDONED $4 MILLION 15th Century Mansion ~ EVERYTHING Left Inside!!!

Help Support Abandoned Nashville by PATREON:

In today’s episode, we’re stepping inside of an abandoned castle just a few hours outside of Paris, France.
More than likely, this castle was originally built by a French nobleman during the early Renaissance period and at the time, it was one of the largest castles in France, boasting 15 bedrooms, 11 stables, a great dining hall and a full time staff of servants and cooks to work for the family.

Throughout the years, it changed owners many times until it was finally abandoned in 2003 when the last known family to live here, suddenly moved away and left everything inside after the father of the family died.

And for nearly 2 decades, it’s remained a mystery why they left all of their belongings sealed inside this majestic place they once called home. So join me as I venture into this secret 15th century castle to step back in time and find out what’s still left inside.

Family Vanished From ABANDONED Time Capsule

This early 1900’s home is unlike any time capsule I’ve ever seen. Each room, one by one is holding its own well-preserved secret. It’s as if the family vanished altogether in an instant, not even leaving clues about where they’ve gone. All that’s left is a house- a decaying memorial of the family it used to hold.

A Train Almost Ruined the Town But Something Saved People

Traveling by train is one of the safest ways to get somewhere. But what's that? You feel it accelerate, and soon it's already moving at breakneck speed, ignoring stop signs, stations, and other trains. You're pinching yourself in a futile attempt to wake up, but it’s no nightmare – you’re on a runaway train!

It was a cold winter night on January 11, 2004. Two people were supposed to arrive at the train yard that night: 31-year-old engineer Eduard and his 24-year-old assistant Alexander. But when it was time for their shift to begin, the engineer was nowhere to be seen. They eventually got hold of Eduard, and the engineer simply said that he’d overslept. His health readings were normal, and he was totally sober. Everything was fine, nothing out of routine here, except maybe the fact that instead of his uniform, the man was wearing a suit and tie, as if he was going to some important event. But nobody seemed to find that odd…

SUMMARY:
- After the doctors gave him the green light, the engineer was ready to go. He climbed up into the cab, and that's when his assistant noticed another oddity. Eduard didn't put a new tape into the train's speedometer, which was a serious violation of the rules.
- After the train left the loading station, the engineer broke protocol once more by refusing to check if the brake system was working correctly.
- As the train came toward the railway haul Volkhovstroy 2 – Kukol’, the station operator reported that there was another train approaching the station. Alexander the assistant screamed in horror when the engineer hit the controls to accelerate!
- When Alexander tried to bring his co-worker to his senses, the much stronger engineer answered back with physical threats.
- At 2:58am, the train blew through the red light at Kukol’ station, careened on a totally unscheduled route, and dashed toward the main track.
- Everything changed at Valya station. At 3:02am, when the runaway had already blown through the previous stop at Myslino, the Valya station operator came up with the idea to cut the power on the line.
- At 3:45am, the train finally lost its forward momentum and came to a stop. Alexander the assistant immediately saw his only chance to escape.
- When the police got to the train at 4:14am, they discovered the engineer on the floor, completely out of it. The delusional man was taken to the hospital for mental health treatment.
- Had the train continued its crazed path to destruction, it would’ve made it to the town of Tikhvin, population: 60,000.
- It happened on May 15, 2001 in northwest Ohio. Locomotive #8888 (hence the nickname) was moving a string of 47 freight cars on the Walbridge – Kenton line.
- Things were going smoothly until the train's 35-year-old engineer noticed that one switch was strangely misaligned. The man decided that since the train was moving quite slowly, he’d have more than enough time to get down, fix the switch, and climb right back up into his cabin.
- Before the engineer left the cab, he’d set the wrong brake.
- When the engineer tried to switch a special brake that would’ve slowed the train down to a crawl, he accidentally set the engine not to brake but to accelerate!
- At first, they tried to stop the train with the help of a portable derailer, but these attempts failed. Then the police started to shoot at the emergency switch, which serves to cut off the fuel supply.
- As soon as the runaway's speed dropped to 11 mph (18 kph), engineer Jon Hosfeld, who’d been waiting up ahead, managed to climb into the cab and shut down the engine.
