This time, we have made a video of a one-day trip around Hiroshima City. There are separate videos for popular day trips to Miyajima Island and Okunoshima (Rabbit Island), so please watch them.
Starting from Hiroshima Station, we will visit Shukkeien Garden, Hiroshima Castle, Hondori shopping street, okonomiyaki lunch, traditional coffee shop, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, Atomic Bomb Dome, and sushi for dinner. Other dining spots will also be introduced.
Transportation and meal costs are also specified for each and summarized at the end of the video, so we hope you can use it as a guide for your actual trip to Hiroshima.

Hiroshima In A Day: Miyajima | Japan Travel Guide
Japan travel guide to what to do and eat in Miyajima, Hiroshima in a day!
Hiroshima is near the bottom of the main island Honshu and a must visit when coming to Hiroshima is the island Itsukushima, more popularly known as Miyajima. It’s one of Japan’s top 3 scenic sights, most famous for its giant torii gate, which at high tide seems to float on the water.
Miyajima island is also a great place for a day trip from the Kansai region like Kyoto and Osaka but I would recommend staying in Hiroshima for a few days to explore Hiroshima city and another day for Miyajima island.
I started my trip off at Hiroshima station and took a 25 minute train ride to JR Miyajima-guchi station.
From there it’s less than a 5 minute walk to the ferry terminal where you will take a 10 minute ferry ride to go to Miyajima island.

If you're on Miyajima Island, there's some Hiroshima street food you have to try! Sample sea eel in the form of steamed buns, Hiroshima oysters (Hiroshima produces 80% of Japan's oysters) and momiji manju a maple leaf shaped sponge cake filled with fillings such as red bean, custard, red bean and cheese! Miyajima Island also has it's own beer which is worth sampling.
Miyajima Island is a great day trip from Hiroshima. It's famous for it's torii gate which appears to be floating in the water when the tide is high. The torii gate is the entrance to the Itsukushima Shrine. Miyajima Island is home to friendly deer, loads of gardens, parks and shrines and there's plenty to explore.

This is behind the counter at Japan Okonomiyaki restaurant in Tokyo. Today, we’re going to a Tokyo hidden gem family owned, father and son Okonomiyaki Teppanyaki restaurant, called Saya in Sendagaya Tokyo. The restaurant was opened 27 years ago, and Yusuke, the owner’s son, runs the shop these days with plans to carry on the family business in the future. In the morning he first prepares the Osakayaki, an osaka style okonomiyaki which takes about 30 minutes to cook. It’s a popular dish that many customers order so he starts cooking it in advance to minimize customer wait times. Okonomiyaki itself is a Japanese-style pancake. It’s usually made with flour, eggs, yam, cabbage, and any other proteins as one prefers and it’s often flavored with dashi. It’s eaten as a meal or snack in Japan. It appears simple and easy enough to make but even slight differences in how it’s cooked and the ratio of the ingredients used can quickly yield an inconsistent dish. Only a true chef can create a consistent okonomiyaki that their customers can come to enjoy time after time. And hence why each okonomiyaki restaurant is unique in itself.

Need to know what to eat in Hiroshima? Hiroshima style okonomiyaki and spicy dipping ramen or tsukemen are the foods to try!
We try Hiroshima style okonomiyaki where they layer the different ingredients onto the grill to create this delcious savoury pancake at Tekka, a local restaurant in Hiroshima.
Okonomiyaki was a dish born out of the war. After the atomic bomb hit all the city's restaurants were flattened and so people set up makeshift grills and started cooking together all the different scraps they had- this eventually evolved into the dish we know and love today!
Okonomiyaki is one dish you MUST eat when in Hiroshima!
Our second stop is for spicy dipping ramen or tsukemen at Bakudanya. Sheena samples the cold version and Thomas the hot version. Bakudanya offers spice levels from 1 to 100! Another must eat when in Hiroshima!

This time, I went to Ron in Okonomimura. This is a popular restaurant that has received many high evaluations from not only Japanese but also from foreigners anyway. I asked the owner and chef, Yuki-san, to film closely for two hot hours at night.
In various scenes, I could feel from Yuki-san that she wants people to enjoy and relax eating delicious okonomiyaki, and that she wants them to enjoy sightseeing in Hiroshima. When leaving, it was very impressive to see people from all countries leaving with smiles on their faces.

今回は、お好み村にある「ロン」さんへ。こちらのお店、日本人はもちろん、とにかく外国人からの高評価を多く獲得する人気店です。オーナー兼シェフのゆきさんにお願いして夜の熱い２時間に密着しました。
いろんな場面で、ゆきさんから美味しいお好み焼きを楽しんでリラックスして食べてほしい、広島観光をエンジョイしてもらいたいという気持ちが伝わってきます。帰る時は、どの国の方も「ニコニコ」笑顔で帰るのがとても印象的でした。
