Welcome back to Around The Globe, today on the channel we are going to check out the 11 HACKS to survive long-haul flights! Thanks to the miracle of human flight, we can now fly direct from Newark, New Jersey, to Singapore in just under 19 hours. That also means people spend nearly an entire day of their lives off the ground, in cruising altitude limbo, only to land with the kind of jet-lag that eclipses exhaustion. For any serious traveler, long-haul flights are a necessary evil. How do they do it? Here, 12 tips for surviving—even enjoying—a day in the air.
Buy your ticket as early as possible. Waiting and hoping for that $20 price drop, more often than not, is not worth the trouble. Not only does buying early give you peace of mind in the weeks and months leading up to your departure, it increases the likelihood that enough seats remain open for you to pick where you want to sit—whether you prefer to cuddle up to a window, have easy access to the aisle, or stretch your legs in an exit row. Wait until the last minute and chances are good that you (and your elbows) will be sandwiched into a dreaded middle seat. Frequent flier? The time to cash those miles in on an upgrade is now. Wear your most comfortable outfit. That fitted blouse and skin-tight pair of jeans might make you feel like you’re 20 again, but trust us—after sitting (and attempting to sleep) in them for 15 hours, you’ll never want to look at that outfit again. When it comes to long-distance travel, stick to a “comfy-chic” dress code of neutral, loose-fitting layers you can move around in. Besides keeping cozy on a flight, you’ll also guard against deep vein thrombosis—a serious condition that’s aggravated when you sit in cramped positions for long periods of time. 20 tips you can use on your next airplane trip to have a better inflight experience. First, dress right: bring long sleeves, a jacket or a hoodie. I like pants and shirts with lots of pockets. Bamboo shirts are great for the no-smell experience. Merino wool socks will keep your feet warm and dry. Wear shoes that are easy to take off and slip on.

Always do the check in online so you can pick a seat you like otherwise you will have to be where they put you. And it saves you more time also.
Choose a window seat if you plan to sleep
You have something to lean on, less risk of falling over onto someone, and no one asking you to get up so they can get out of the row. Most people find it easier to have a sleep when you are on a window seat.
Pack compression socks
These socks make your legs and feet more comfortable by encouraging circulation.
Test your neck pillow before using it on board
A neck pillow can make your in-flight experience significantly more comfortable but don’t leave it up to chance. Use it before you go and make it for your own comfort.
Try sleep aids before you fly
You don’t want a long overnight flight to be the first time you try a sleep aid medication. Many people have adverse reactions to these drugs, so you could end up feeling awful or being wound up when you are trying to slow down.
Use a soft bag for your personal belongings
A small, pliable carry-on bag will give you less grief when jammed into the ever shrinking space for your legs on modern planes. Having even a few more inches of legroom can make for a better flight.
Dress in layers.
Some airplanes are hot, some are cold, and some go back and forth. Dressing in layers you can add or remove easily will give you more control over your comfort.
Try flying in the morning
You’re more likely to encounter thunderstorms in the afternoon. Take a morning flight for a gentle, better flight with less turbulence also.
Sit near the wing
If you are in the middle you won’t feel a move as much.
