48 Hours in Albania: Insane 50km Theth to Valbone Hike from Shkoder
We had no idea what to expect in Albania, and to be totally honest, Anne planned this entire trip as a surprise and Jeff had zero idea where they were going until literally the moment they landed in Tirana.
Hiking the amazing Peaks of the Balkans trails, the hiking in Albania is absolutely stunning and spoiled my over tourism of anykind.
We visited the amazing blue eye watering hole for a swim and hiked over 50km around Theth and across the ridge to Valbone - one of the most stunning hikes we have ever done.
We didn't know much about Albania before we landed in Tirana, but we'll never forget it now - one of our most adventurous and surprising weekend adventures yet!
Albania may have a sordid past, but it will be one of the most popular hiking and adventure travel destinations in the coming years, we promise, so go now before it gets too busy!
While you may only know Albania for their stunning beaches in the south or as the bad guys in many movies, it is so, so much more and somewhere to be added to your bucket list immediately!

Follow our journey as we head into the dramatic terrain of the Accursed Mountains, where we set off to tackle the Theth to Valbona hike, a one-day trek that takes you between these two charming villages. Unbelievable Remote Mountain Paradise - 48 hrs in Theth, Albania ????????
We finally made it to paradise, well paradise on earth that is and this secluded mountain village in Theth, Albania is a nature lovers dream. We booked a tour with one of our friends a couple as well and spent two marvellous days there. It was too short and we will definitely be back.
On our first day we enjoyed a delicious all organic freshly cooked lunch, played some frisbee and then set off on the trails to the blue eye.

INSANELY BEAUTIFUL mountain village! FIRST IMPRESSIONS of Albanian Alps - THETH, ALBANIA TRAVEL VLOG
We are finally in the beautiful mountain village of Theth, Albania!
We had a van picked-up us from our hostel in Shkoder to our accommodation in Theth. The van costed 1500 lek/person. We stayed at a beautiful cabin with mountain view at Logu i Harushave. The stay + meals were included. We cannot say enough how fresh and delicious the food was!
We didn't do much on our first day in Theth other than walking around and exploring the lovely village itself. Walking around the village felt so magical...so fairytale-ish!

Albanian Alps - Valbona to Theth
If you're making a trip to Albania, a visit to Theth and/or Valbona is a must! If you're able, why not combine the two with this beautiful hike and the Komani Lake Ferry?! I did this trip October 19-21 and the conditions were phenomenal! If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below and I'll do my best to answer!

ALBANIA - Hiking in Theth Valley
A week of hiking in Theth Valley, Albania in April 2019.
After a flight to Pristhina, Kosovo, I took a bus to Sköder in Albania close to the Accursed Mountains. My plan was to stay with one of the families living in Theth Valley and explore the mountains around.
Just after landing in Pristina, I learned the main road from Sköder to Theth was still blocked by snow. The only way to get to the valley was a long, 7 hour drive on a bad road with a 4-wheel drive. My host promised to come and pick me up spending a full day driving.
It all felt really remote, and I liked it.
There are about 25 families living in the valley, and over the winter, they are basically isolated from the rest of the world. For my hosts, picking me up was the 2nd time visiting town since last autumn.
I was told there are more hikers passing through during the summer. This time of the year though, I was completely alone. Exactly what I came for.

HIKING IN ALBANIA | Valbona To Theth
In this video we share with you how we went from the Town Shkoder in Albania to do the hike from Valbona To Theth in northern Albania. We started out with taking a shuttle to the ferry first thing in the morning. Then from there we took the ferry for couple of hours to next shuttle which took us to our Airbnb in Valbona where we spent the night before our hike the next morning! Following day with some new friends we start out hike across from Valbona to Theth. Hopefully you enjoy this video!

Theth to Valbone Hike - Albania | Komani Lake ferry
The Theth to Valbone hike is one of the most beautiful in Europe, it's so hard to believe that these mountain ranges belong to Albania! Plus it was so cheap, only around 20 Euro a night including food. The absolute best.

In July 2020 I traveled with my friends to Albania and I was very pleased by the hiking in Albanian Alps: Teth, Valbona valley and summit at Maja e Rosit. The trail consists of hut-to-hut easy day hikes where you will see a lot of beautiful mountain views. We spent all nights in guest houses. The locals are friendly, helpful and food is tasty!

Day 3: Nderlysaj, Theth
Day 4: Theth, Valbona valley

We spent 48 hours in Valbona Valley National Park in Tropoja, Albania.
It was very nice camping there and visiting some beautiful destinations.
Valbonë is a village in the Kukës County, northern Albania. It is part of the former municipality Margegaj, and situated in the valley of the river Valbonë, south of the mountain Maja e Thatë. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Tropojë. As one of the main settlements of Valbonë Valley National Park, it provides appropriate accommodation for visitors and tourists, mostly in typical alpine houses or inns.

Come join us on our journey to the Albanian Alps! Our tour takes us on a thrilling hike from Theth to Valbona, exploring the stunning scenery and learning more about the area. We also take a look at the local cuisine and culture of the region. So join us as we venture through the Albanian Alps and discover its wonders!
Hike from Theth to Volbona is pretty famous. The view of the Albanian Alps is beyound amazing. On avarage it takes up to 7 hours to get to Volbona. But the way is quite challenging, because most of the way you will have to walk up the mountains. It took us 10 hourse to get to our guest house.
Tips:
1. Make sure to bring enough food and water.
2. Bring cash, there will be 2 cafes on your way.
3. Wear proper shoes for hiking.
4. Carry less stuff as possible.
