Velothon has returned to the Sunshine Coast and day one kicked off with riders tackling the beautiful but at times testing 118km journey through the stunning hinterland and local towns.

2019 Velothon Sunshine Coast - Stage 1
Velothon Sunshine Coast Stage 1 was as brutal as it was beautiful. Riders rode their way up through Bli Bli, Yandina and Eumundi and went west to face the leg burning battle that is Obi Obi. Once they reached the top, they were rewarded with a stunning ride across the top of the Blackall Range to the charming hinterland town of Montville, where the locals cheered riders to the finish line. Stage 1, 3 Day Velo || 118km Hinterland Climbing
A brutally honest opening day from Sippy Downs winding its way into the hilly hinterland and finishing at Buderim. The view over the spectacular Glasshouse Mountains makes all the days climbing worth it. A King Of the Mountain in the final kilometre will keep you grinding until the last moment.
Each day will begin with a staged start where athletes will begin the ride by being released onto the road in small groups from the designated timing zone.

2019 Velothon Sunshine Coast - Stage 3
Stage 3 - the Queen stage - was breathtaking in more ways than one! Today showed off all the things that make the Sunshine Coast great with ocean views, rolling hinterland hills and expansive views of the Glass House Mountains. The views had to be earned but riders were rewarded with fast, winding descents flowing back to the coast. It was the final stage for our 3 Day riders and a taste of the Velothon experience for our 1 Day riders.

Stage 3 & 1 Day Ride: Coastal
Ride along the beach from Mudjimba to Noosa to stretch those day three muscles before heading inland toward Kenilworth where more challenges await. The inland section of this course will be the highlight or the bane of your Velo. Before you make the exciting finale finish near the Velo Clubhouse in Maroochydore you’ll need to conquer the beast known as Obi Obi Hill. The question ‘did you make it or walk it?’ will be the talk of the Velo Clubhouse at the end of today.

Stage 2, 3 Day Velo || 88KM Glass House Mountains
Start next to Moffatts Beach and finish in the lovely town of Woombye in the hinterlands. Day two has some blissful rolling flats and engaging climbing. This is the sprinters day. A sprint finish gives everyone a chance to claim enviable bragging rights.
