Songyang, Lishui, Zhejiang, China
Songyang County belongs to Lishui City, Zhejiang Province and is located in the southwest of Zhejiang Province. It is connected to Liandu District of Lishui City in the east, Longquan City and Yunhe County in the south, Suichang County in the northwest, and Wuyi County of Jinhua City in the northeast. The easternmost to Yuxi Township Xindu, the westernmost to Fengping Township Longhu Pass, the widest east-west diameter distance of 53.7 kilometers; the northernmost to Chishou Township Dachuan, the southernmost to Dadongba Township Dawan, the longest north-south diameter distance of 40.2 kilometers. The total area is 1406 square kilometers. According to the data of the seventh census, the resident population of Songyang County was 204,880 as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020.
In 2018, the gross domestic product of Songyang County was 10.606 billion yuan. Songyang is a model of Classical China county that remains intact, and China National Geographic has hailed Songyang as the last secret place of Jiangnan.

I was once asked if there are still places untouched by mass tourism in China. And yes there are. Songyang in Zhejiang province is one of them. A mix of old villages and ancestral traditions with some touches of contemporary design and artistic places. Some nice hikking to do between tea plantations and bamboo forest. An area still untouched by the crowd. Local authorities want to develop the place but not for the mass as they want to keep their identity. Songyang Academy was one of the oldest academies of higher learning in the Song Dynasty in China and the first of the four academies of the Northen Song Dynasty in China. The other three are Yingtian Academy in Henan Province, Yuelu Academy in Hunan Province and Bailudong Academy in Jiangxi Province. It is famous for its rationalistic Confucian philosophical school. It was originally built in the Northern Song Dynasty in 484 in North Wei Dynasty, for Buddhism activities. Then it was changed to be a Taoism site by Emperor Yang of Sui (569-618). Then it was renamed as Songyang Academy by Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty in 1035. Since then, it has been a place for historical eminent people to teach. Famous scholars in Song Dynasty, such as Cheng Hoa, Cheng Yi, Sima Guang, Fan Zhongyan and Zhu Xi, etc., once gave lectures here. There is a 4,500-year-old cypress, granted the title of Great General and Senior General by Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-25 AD), seldom in the world.

十一长假浙江游08｜黄家大院｜House of Huang Family, Songyang county, Zhejiang province | The finest wood carving
Originally built in 1860's, House of Huang family was a huge compound famous for its fancy woodworks. The most impressive thing to me was the lattice windows with beautiful decorations such as cute boys and all kinds of different animals. I have to say it is the best wood carvings I have ever seen in my life.
Unfortunately some parts were destroyed in Chinese Cultural Revolution. What a pity!

十一长假浙江游03| 松阳县青茶市场 | Tea trade market Songyang county, Lishui city, Zhejiang province
On my way to Yangjiatang village, I spotted this local market for fresh tea leaves trade, so I pulled over and made this video.
For your information, this tea leaves are not ready for drink yet. They will be needing to go through a drying process. Obviously most farmers do not have the equipment to dry them, so after picking the tea leaves, they come to this market.
