10 Best Places to Visit in China - Travel Video
Check out all the places seen in this video:
China, the gateway to East Asia, is a fascinating country. It is an ancient civilization that gave the world Peking Man, gunpowder and noodles. Visitors making their first trip to China usually stick to the larger cities. More experienced visitors to the Middle Kingdom will strike out in other directions, where traveling may be a bit more frustrating because of the language barrier, but most definitely doable for independent travelers. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in China:
Discover the Hidden Gems of Shangrao: Explore China's Breathtaking Tourist Attractions
Dear friends, Happy Chinese New Year! ???? ✨ ???? ✨
Walk East’s first video of the new year is my trip to Shangrao, which is full of surprising tourist attractions, including dreamy night views of traditional Chinese water towns, steep mountains and high mountains with snow falling in the sky, and thousand-year-old villages.

-------------------⭐⭐

Now that you’ve arrived, you can stay in the safety and comfort of your hotel and watch the world spin past…or you can embrace this new place you’ve come to. Learn its streets. Meet its people. -------------------⭐⭐
Things to Do in Shangrao
-------------------⭐⭐
You’ll not be wanting for things to do in Shangrao. Explore the downtown area in search of museums and boutiques…or that next delicious meal. What tickles your fancy?
A delectable five-course supper at the restaurant you’ve been hearing about? Or perhaps you’d rather read the paper while sipping hot coffee at one of the cafes scattered throughout town.
Take in a show at the theatre, or just walk along down the main thoroughfare, watching people wander past.
Why spend hours ruminating over what to do in Shangrao? Let the possibilities wash over you as you explore this new region. Move out on foot and get to know the area on a more personal level. Find that perfect souvenir at one of the smaller shops, or reinvent your entire artistic aesthetic at your new favorite gallery.
The Wunvzhou Resort in southeast China's Jiangxi Province has been attracting crowds of visitors with its stunning night scenes, from an eye-catching molten iron throwing show to a golden pavilion that looks like it's floating in the air.
The resort features spectacular live performances, a range of cultural sites, and amusement parks of varying themes, offering an abundance of options for visitors looking to make the most of their stay.
-------------------⭐⭐
Wunvzhou Resort combines tourism and culture
-------------------⭐⭐
Located in the Chinese province of Jiangxi, the recently opened Wunvzhou Resort combines tourism and culture via a range of hotels, restaurants, shops and cultural attractions, all themed on the historic Hui-culture.
In the Wunvzhou Resort of China's most beautiful countryside—Wuyuan County in East China’s Jiangxi Province—there is a golden pavilion in the air. When the twilight falls, seen from afar, it is like a fairyland.
In fact, the golden pavilion is supported only by a pillar, which is wrapped with silver mirror materials. After nightfall, two streams of water like curtains will appear. Besides, the lake also has gear to release fog. Thus, a golden pavilion with a divine aura is shown. See such beautiful scenery with our own eyes!
-------------------⭐⭐
Lingshan Mountain Scenic Area
-------------------⭐⭐
The Lingshan Scenic Area is found in the northern part of Shangrao County. When the weather is pleasant and the visibility is high, it can be seen in Shangrao City. The Lingshan Scenic Area is old and magical.
It not only has beautiful sights, but also many beautiful legends. Here, multiple animals jump and play in the forest, and there are tiny animals such as Chinese perch, which is unique in Lingshan, giving Lingshan a life-like movement and unending wildness. The ancient constructs such as temples and pavilions that are spread over Lingshan make the cultural attractions and the natural landscape reflect each other, making it more lively.
Shangrao Lingshan wins by natural scenery. From the perspective of mountain-shaped landforms, Lingshan has many similarities to Sanqingshan. Along the way, strange stone and layers are stacked, and the strange peaks are everywhere. It is an absolutely underestimated attraction.
The scenic area is located 25 km to the north of Shangrao county. It has an area of about 160 square kilometers, 60 of which are frequented by tourists.
Lingshan Mountain is an area of erosion landform. The main peak is about 1,000—1,400 meters high and the cliffs are steep. Influenced by the maritime climate, its average temperature is approximately 15 ℃.
Lingshan Mountain is a holy place for both Buddhism and Taoism, attracting many tourists.
Lingshan Mountain has rich medical resources. There are more than 200 varieties of Chinese herbs, among which ganoderma lucidum, dark mushroom, stone tea, fleece-flower root, and poria are the most precious ones.
The terrace of Lingshan does not only produce quality rice for locals, but also makes a brilliant landscape. Many painters, photographers, and poets have used it as a theme and have created an abundant of art work centered on its backdrop.

MUST SEE SIGHTs of CHINA for your FIRST VISIT! (Top 10)
These are my TOP 10 MUST SEE SIGHTS and HIDDEN GEMS that we saw during our 5 weeks in China. From busy cities to cute hipster towns. Natural wonders to man made gems. China really has everything need to make it your next favourite travel destination: this is your China travel inspiration!
In this video, we look at the best places to visit and some of the most useful China travel advice for your first visit: including train travel, how to access the internet through a VPN and how to deal with culture shock.
EVERY PLACE FEATURED IN THE VIDEO (in alphabetical order).
BEST VPN FOR CHINA: To access any western social media platforms in China, you're going to need a VPN. Ivacy offers a great VPN for a very affordable price (ad):
APPS TO DOWNLOAD
I should really have mentioned this in the video. Before your trip, make sure you download WeChat (it's free) for scanning things in shops and restaurants for translation. Didi is also a good one, it's the Chinese Uber!
BEIJING
The capital of China is a big, busy city but it's little hutongs are a lot of fun to explore. The Summer Palace and the Forbidden City are both really worth seeing as well.
CHAKA SALT LAKE -
A lesser visited gem, located about 4 hours away from the city of Xining in Qinghai province. Famous for it's mirror-like reflections of the sky.
CULTURE SHOCK
I received a lot of comments saying that people had some reservations and fears about visiting China. To be honest, I felt the same way before I went.
DALI -
An ancient city in Yunnan province that has a little bit of everything that I love! There's nature on the shores of Erhai Lake and up in the heights of Canshan Mountain. The stunning Three Pagodas temple and the bustling culture of the ancient city.
GREAT WALL OF CHINA -
Requires no introduction. But I really recommend exploring the wilder and more remote areas of the wall, rather than the touristy sections. In this film I looked at 3 different areas and compared the strengths and weaknesses of each.
HONG KONG -
A giant, sprawling city. Which also has some amazing natural spots like Lantau Island and Kowloon Park, That's what I focussed on in my travel film.
KUNMING -
Kunming has a reputation for being a transport hub, but it's actually a really fun city to spend a few days. The Dragon Gate and Green Lake Park are particularly great and are the main focus of my travel guide linked above.
LIJIANG OLD TOWN -
A beautiful ancient town with stunning maze like streets. It rained most of the time we were there, so I went searching for the little hidden gems of the streets.
RAINBOW MOUNTAINS -
This was the best day that I had in China. Away from the Danxia Landform Geopark is a peaceful national park that is so worth exploring. It feels more like Australia or the US than China.
SHANGHAI -
The last stop that we had in China. You can get some amazing views from the World Financial Centre Viewpoint.
TRAIN TRAVEL IN CHINA
The main way we got around China. We booked everything through China Highlights, which made thinks very easy (not sponsored, just good):
VPN (virtual private network)
You need a VPN to access almost every western social media accounts in China. For an affordable, but good VPN use Ivacy (ad):
XIAN -
I spent 24 hours exploring Xian and it definitely wasn't enough time. The Terracotta Warriors are amazing, but my film focusses on the other gems of the city.
XINGPING -
Home to the best view in China: Laozhai Mountain.
YANGSHUO -
Beautiful karst mountains, rivers and hiking. My video guide features everything we did there and it's a pretty extensive list! Including instructions on how to get to the best viewpoint in the area.

China Tourism - Ancient Fenghuang town
Ancient Fenghuang, a village in central China, used to be a frontier town, separating the Han civilization from the Miao and Dong minorities. It was an important regional center for trade and cultural exchange.
The riverside setting of the village, with its wooden stilt houses and narrow mysterious back alleys, makes it one of the most attractive places in the region.
These days, it has become a major tourist destination. While some traditions remain, much of the town has been set up to cater for the influx of new visitors, in some ways changing the face of the village beyond recognition.
Either way, Fenghuang provides an interesting glimpse of the many challenges and contrasts that exist in China today.

Jiangxi boasts incredible landscapes, especially its mountains are among the best in China
The beauty of Jiangxi emits from the gentle sounds of rainfall, the ancient rhyme of the opera, and the purity of the mountains and rivers. Wugong Mountain with endless meadows, Mingyue Mountain surrounded by fresh air, and Sanbai Mountain's health and care center show the diversity and charm of Jiangxi.
