Number 6. PLAN A TRIP UP POHORJE
Plan a trip up Pohorje
The Pohorje mountains, which are green and surround Maribor, are a great place to spend time in nature. It is a great place for hikers, cyclists, and horse riders because there are so many beautiful forest trails, peat moors, and vine roads. Pohorje is one of the best places to ski in the country during the winter. On the way to the mountains, tourists can stop at tourist homesteads and vineyards that serve homemade food and wellness centers in the mountains that offer spas and places to relax.
Number 5. VISIT THE FIRST ROMANIAN RESTAURANT IN THE EU
Visit the first Romani restaurant in the EU
Maribor is a town that not only keeps alive great Slovenian traditions, but also makes room for people of other cultures. Romani Kafenava is the first Romani restaurant in the European Union. Its goal is to reduce prejudices and stereotypes about Roma people among the locals and give the Roma people a place to show off their culture, language, and food. The inside is decorated with unique Romani art, colorful tablecloths, and vases in a rustic style.
Number 4. GO ON A BALLOON EXCURSION
Go on a balloon excursion
Visitors who are adventurous enough to go to Balon Center can see the town's beautiful countryside from a whole new angle. A balloon trip is a great way to make memories that will last a lifetime and get some great shots of the Pohorje area from above.
Number 3. SPENT AN ADVENTUROUS DAY AT THE ALTITUDE POLYGON
Spent an adventurous day at the altitude polygon
Spent an adventurous day at the Altitude Polygon
Those who like a lot of excitement should go to the Altitude Polygon. Daring visitors who don't have a fear of heights or speed can try the Giant Swing, wall climbing, the Pillar of Courage, the Hanging Bridge, and steel cables. Before taking part in the tasks, each person is tested on the ground. The bravest guests will be taken 14 meters above the ground, which is the same as being at the top of a six-story building.
Number 2. TAKE A WALK IN LENT
Take a walk in lent
Take a walk in Lent
Lent is the oldest part of Maribor, and it shows off the town's rich cultural history the best. The town's big fortress was built in the 1600s and can be seen from Usnjarska , one of the oldest streets in the city. Because there were leather shops on this street hundreds of years ago, it was known as the dirtiest street in town. Now, the street leads people all the way through the Jewish district, past the Water Tower. The Judgement Tower is another interesting part of the fortress. It has to do with the witch trials that used to happen in Maribor.
Number 1. EXPLORE THE DRAVA RIVER
Explore the Drava River
Maribor's past is closely linked to the river Drava and the bridges that cross it. In times of peace, bridges were a sign of the city's wealth and power because many trade routes went through it. In times of war, bridges made the city a strategic center in Europe. One of the most beautiful bridges in the Austro-Hungarian Empire was the Old Bridge, which was built at the start of the 20th century. It was hurt during World War 2, but in 1998 it was finally fixed up.
Murska Sobota, Slovenia (CC: slovenski, English)
Murska Sobota (German: Olsnitz; Hungarian: Muraszombat) is a city in northeastern Slovenia. It is the centre of the City Municipality of Murska Sobota near the Mura River in the region of Prekmurje and is the regional capital.
Officially, the city is known as Murska Sobota, although informally it is usually simply referred to as Sobota by its inhabitants and Murska by people from other parts of Slovenia. The traditional German name of the city is Olsnitz, which is derived from the old Slovene name Olšnica. The modern Slovene name is a translation of the Hungarian name Muraszombat, which was the official name of the city until 1919. In Hungarian, szombat means 'Saturday', referring to the city's practice of holding fairs every week on that day. Murska Sobota was a district (Hungarian: járás) city of Vas County in the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918. (Wikipedia)

The Mura Statistical Region is a statistical region in the north-east of Slovenia. It is predominantly agricultural with field crops representing over three quarters of the total utilised agricultural area, twice as much as the Slovene average. Climate and soil combined have made it the region with the highest crop production, but its geographical position and inferior infrastructure put it at a disadvantage and it is the region of Slovenia with the lowest GDP per capita (EUR 8,500) and the highest rate of registered unemployment. The region comprises the following municipalities: Apače, Beltinci, Cankova, Črenšovci, Dobrovnik, Gornja Radgona, Gornji Petrovci, Grad, Hodoš, Kobilje, Križevci, Kuzma, Lendava, Ljutomer, Moravske Toplice, Murska Sobota, Odranci, Puconci, Radenci, Razkrižje, Rogašovci, Sveti Jurij ob Ščavnici, Šalovci, Tišina, Turnišče, Velika Polana and Veržej. The population in 2004 was 122,717. Employment structure: 41.2% services, 44.8% industry, 14.0% agriculture. It attracts 7.8% of the total number of tourists in Slovenia, most being from Slovenia (52%). Length of motorways: 14 km Length of other roads: 1451 km.

Wikipedia:
The city park is a beautifully preserved 9.5-hectare castle park. It has two-hundred-year-old oaks, hornbeams, oaks, lindens and typical grassy areas, as well as a pond, a feature of English parks. Trubar's avenue runs through the park, with several statues next to it: Tršar's statue by Primož Trubar, a monument to fallen teachers and writers from Prekmurje, a work by Feri Novak, 19 lithopunctures by sculptor Marko Pogačnik.
The Victory Monument, dedicated to the winners of World War II, Russian soldiers and Yugoslav partisans, built according to the plans of the Russian architect Aronchik and made of Carrara marble. It was discovered on August 12, 1945. It is shaped like a tomb, symbolizing the Kremlin wall, in front of which stands an honor guard, and above it is an obelisk with Lenin's image on a bronze medal. The sculptures were made by Zdenko Kalin and Boris Kalin.
Evangelical complex with a church in the neo-Gothic style, built between 1907-1910 according to the plans of Emö Gerey. The church is built of brick with three front towers, the middle one is the belfry. The rosette above the entrance is repeated in the altar area with the image of Martin Luther. The author of the altar painting Shooting from the Cross is Jenö Bory.
The cathedral church of St. Nicholas was first mentioned in 1297. The late Romanesque core with the cornice bell tower is from the end of the 13th century. In the second half of the 14th century, it was rebuilt into a rib-vaulted presbytery with stone carving decoration of Parlerian masks and paintings. The older layer of paintings is from before the middle of the 14th century, while the younger layer is from around 1370, attributed to a Slovak painter. The church was rebuilt several times between the 15th and 18th centuries, and in 1910 - 1912 it was thoroughly remodeled according to the plans of the architect Ladislav Takács (László Takács 1880-1916). It is a three-nave basilica with a transept and a vaulted dome above the crossing. The pyramidal facade rises into a 60 m high bell tower. The facade has five niches with Sapáry's coat of arms and a semicircular entrance with a stylized floral wreath. The equipment is from various Hungarian workshops. In the main altar, there is a painting of the patron saint of the church, St. Nicholas, bestowing gifts on virgins, a work by Matthis Schiffrer from 1797. Stained glass windows are by Kregar and Bizovičar. On the south side next to the bell tower is the tomb of the patron of the church, the count of Sobo, on the north side is the oratory of the count of Rakiča with a baptistery and sacristy.

VLOG #SLO26 A Part Of Prekmurje
Visiting region of Prekmurje, staying in a house our friend is renovating in the old fashioned manner-keeping it the way it was ;) Next stop was St. Ana Church in Boreca, and then to a small tourist centre Vulkanija, where you get a taste of how Prekumrje was shaped by Volcanoes long-long time ago. All that was toped by a dinner in Restaurant Kodila, where they serve everything eaten and grown in this fantastic part of Slovenia. Enjoy!

Maribor, Slovenia in 4K Ultra HD
Maribor is the second-largest city in Slovenia and the largest city of the traditional region of Lower Styria. It is also the seat of the City Municipality of Maribor, the seat of the Drava statistical region and the Eastern Slovenia region. Maribor is also the economic, administrative, educational, and cultural center of eastern Slovenia.
Maribor was first mentioned as a castle in 1164, as a settlement in 1209, and as a city in 1254. Like most Slovene ethnic territory, Maribor was under Habsburg rule until 1918, when Rudolf Maister and his men secured the city for the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs, which then joined the Kingdom of Serbia to form the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In 1991 Maribor became part of independent Slovenia.
Maribor, along with the Portuguese city of Guimarães, was selected the European Capital of Culture for 2012.
