Portorož, Slovenia - Beach resort and spa town on the Adriatic Sea
Portorož or Portorose is the most popular Slovenian resort town situated along the Adriatic coast. It is famous for its spa tradition: it is a place where, from the 13th century, the Benedictine monks treated their patients with sea salt and mud therapies. The official status of Portorož resort was obtained only in 1885 after the opening of the first hospital, and in 1910 the first large hotel - Palace - was opened. Today, apart from the rich spa culture, the destination is also known for its mild Mediterranean climate, the beautiful surrounding hills and shallow warm sea. Portoroz is buzzing with life, especially during warmer months, with its main promenade adorned by numerous hotels, casinos and restaurants. Though it has something for all budgets the town has an air of exclusivity which draws well-heeled holidaymakers from all over Europe. Besides thermal complexes, the resort is also famous for its rich cultural life and variety of interesting sites, including its main historical symbol - Hotel Kempinski Palace Portoroz. There was a time when only the wealthiest guests of the resort could stay at this fashionable hotel. Portorož is also known for its first-class casinos, many of which have also acquired the status of historical sites.
The most popular casinos and other entertainment facilities can be found on the waterfront.There is a hilltop Church of St. Bernardin, a former monastery from the 15th century and to the south there’s Forma Viva, an area dotted with unique stone sculptures. Portorož is a great destination for people seeking an active holiday. There are numerous opportunities for water sports, cycling and horse riding. It is a perfect starting point for excursions and daily tours. It is only a stone’s throw away from the medieval pearl, the town of Piran, and the beautiful cultural and historical monument that is the Lipica Stud Farm. Galleries, numerous cultural and entertainment events; specialities of Istrian cuisine; superb wellness services and facilities; – guests can enjoy all of these during their stay in the popular holiday resort of Portorož.

Basic information:
Camp Lucija is arranged on the green peninsula of Seča. The camp has about 550 pitches and can accommodate up to 1,000 guests. The camp is less than a kilometer from the center of Portorož, the largest Slovenian seaside resort.
The campsite accepts Avtokampi camping card, which will make camping cheaper. The discount is published in the price list of the camp, and you can order the camping card free of charge and receive it immediately by e-mail.
Camp Lucija is open all year round - from April to November as a classic camp, and in winter as a camper stop.
Camp Lucija is divided into two parts: the arranged plots in the part by the sea and the part of the camp on the upper terrace, which is a bit further from the sea. More than half of the camp is arranged in plots that are equipped with electricity, and some also have water. Part of the camp is non-parceled and thus intended primarily for tents.
In recent years, the camp has been renovated with a blue flag, a children's playground has been added, the number of pitches by the sea has been increased for individual guests and free wifi internet access has been arranged. In the summer months, guests of Camp Lucija have free access to the outdoor pool on the beach of the St. Bernardin, and in the remaining period, at an additional cost, guests are offered swimming in the Laguna Bernardin Marine Park - expected until 1.4. 2020 swimming is unfortunately not possible due to the renovation of the pools!
Transitional guests who come to the camp with motorhomes are also offered a daily camper stop between 9 am and 9 pm, when the price also includes the care of the motorhome and the use of toilets with showers.
Camp Lucija has two larger sanitary facilities and several smaller prefabricated ones. The camp has a shop and a nicely renovated restaurant. Guests with puppies have a beach for dogs next to the camp, and they also have a dog shower in the camp.
For lovers of active holidays, there are tennis, mini golf, volleyball, basketball, handball, football, bowling and bowling alleys near the camp. From the camp there is a well-maintained coastal path to the salt pans in Sečovlje or to Piran. In Portorož, guests have at their disposal many restaurants, bars, an amusement park for children, a beautifully landscaped sandy beach and a few locations for lively night entertainment.

This time I hit the hills! Ok, I also fight the streets of Koper but once I reach the hills (well, after the initial climb ;)) all the fun begins! The roads are again bad but there's almost no traffic and the views are brilliant. Some bikes to look exactly like cars but there's on road, off road, climbs, flats and - incredible descents! With the last one being probably dangerous, due to the horrible road, so please be very careful.
As usual, you can see parts not available on Google Street View. ;)
