OAKLAND - White Elephant Sale!
Every President's Day weekend, your Set of Drifters take a trip up to the Bay Area to attend Oakland's White Elephant Sale, arguably the world's Ultimate Thrift Store. From vintage kitchenware, sheets, artwork, furniture, and electronics to books, records, clothing, stationary, toys, and glassware, you name it, they've got it. And what makes the experience especially enjoyable is that each of the 17 different departments are thoroughly organized - and priced well below what you might expect.
Volunteers from the Oakland Museum Women's Board spend the entire year preparing for the public sale, testing all electronics and pairing each vintage greeting card with its original envelope. Even the pillowcases are washed, rolled and stored in tight little bundles secured with a rubber band. Now that's what we call efficiency! Join us on our most recent trip, won't you?
