Visitors making their first trip to China usually stick to the larger cities. More experienced visitors to the Middle Kingdom will strike out in other directions, where traveling may be a bit more frustrating because of the language barrier, but most definitely doable for independent travelers. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in China:

Changsha 4K HDR Night Walk | China's Best Night Food City | December 2020 | 长沙 | 夜宵之城
Hey, guys, welcome to China's night food city, Changsha!
The night of Changsha is really very lively, and I was shocked by the crowd at night.
Hope you enjoy this night walking tour.
------------------------------
★★ Briefing Hunan Food ★★
------------------------------
Changsha people boast to be the best gourmand of China and here people spend a lot of time eating.
Xiang Cuisine is one of the Eight Cuisines in China and has a fine and delicate appearance and a hot & sour taste and the heavy and hot taste is an equal competitor to the spicy food of Sichuan.
Street dining and restaurants in the city make every visitor's mouth hot. No matter the featured snacks - 'Stinky Tofu' and 'Sisters'Rice Balls' in Huogongdian (Fire Palace) or the famous spicy shrimps at Nanmenkou, the many types of delicious local food will not disappoint any guests.
Landlocked Hunan's chili-rich cuisine is similar to that of western China's Sichuan province.
Chili, garlic and the unusual so-called 'strange sauce' enliven many dishes.
Chairman Mao, who was Hunanese, once claimed that the more chilies one eats the more revolutionary one becomes.
It was meant as a joke (most probably) but the statement is in accordance to the Chinese belief that diet makes a great difference to the well being of a person.
Changsha specialties include dongan chicken, stinking tofu, chili smoked meat and cold rice noodles in a hot and spicy sauce.
Honey sauces are favored for desserts, which include favorites such as water chestnuts or cassia-flower cakes. For those of the non-spicy palate, the city still has an array of cooler dishes, including tasty dumplings (Jiao zi), eggs and pickles.

China, Like You've Never Seen — Wuhan, Zhangjiajie, Fenghuang, Changsha | The Travel Intern
Usually when we think of China, the first things that come to mind (well, at least for us at first) are the Great Wall of China, the Tiananmen Square, Shanghai’s bustling city… But that’s not all there is!
Check out our full itinerary across Wuhan, Zhangjiajie, Fenghuang and Changsha here:
WUHAN (00:35)
00:36 - Yellow Crane Tower
This is probably the most iconic sight in Wuhan, where local tourists and locals both come to visit all year round.
00:50 - Guiyuan Temple
One of the four largest meditation temples in Hubei province. It’s where people go to burn the first bunch of incense for the coming year, and also to pray for auspiciousness and safety.
00:57 - Moshan Scenic Area
If you ever need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main city, this is the perfect place to head to in Wuhan.
01:17 - Hubu Alley
It’s not a visit to Wuhan if you don’t visit Hubu Alley, the alley full of breakfast food specialties of Wuhan! And it holds significance value to the city’s history too.
ZHANGJIAJIE (01:33)
01:35 - Avatar Mountains
Here, you get to behold the place that was a huge inspiration to the creation of Avatar’s Hallelujah Mountains landscape. It’s super crowded though, so be prepared!!
01:43 - Bailong Elevator
The world’s tallest and heaviest outdoor lift surely deserves a feature. It’s actually one of the only ways to get from Yuanjiajie area to Wulingyuan, so do take note if you’re travelling to and fro the destinations.
02:02 - Tianzi Mountain
One of the best sunrise spots in Zhangjiajie, Tianzi Mountain area is one of the more hidden, less crowded spots in Zhangjiajie National Park.
02:09 - Imperial Brush Peaks
Watch as the fog lifts in the early morning, revealing these rock formations that line up like brush tips.
02:16 - Baofeng Lake
After a looooong day out exploring ZJJ, this lake ride is what you need to rest your weary feet.
02:24 - Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge
You’d have probably seen videos of people acting like the world’s gonna end while they’re shaking on this glass bridge. It’s actually not scary, considering how there are so many people on the bridge you don’t really think about the height.
*DO SET ASIDE 3 HOURS for this entire glass bridge experience though, because after going past the bridge, you have to walk through a pretty long way through the forest below. It’s pretty damn scenic and you’d probably be snapping photos non-stop.*
02:50 - Tianmen Mountain
Tianmen Mountain is down in the main city of Zhangjiajie, not in the region of Zhangjiajie National Park. There are even more glass bridges to cross ;-)
FENGHUANG (03:08)
03:11 - Fenghuang Village
Ancient, historic city by day, crazy party land by night. Truly an experience, if you ask me.
CHANGSHA (03:23)
03:26 - Juzizhou AKA Orange Isle
If you search for ‘Changsha’ in Google, or any search engine, this would probably pop up as the iconic landmark of the city. Learn about Mao’s history and background here!
03:42 - Yuelu Shan AKA Mount Yuelu
Just like in Wuhan, Yuelu Shan offers the ultimate getaway from the bustling city.
04:00 - Meixihu International Culture & Arts Center
It almost feels like you’ve stepped into another planet, honestly…
04:14 - Huangxing Walking Road
We spent many nights here, eating, shopping, eating, eating, eating and more eating. Freaking AMAZING food found all along this stretch of road that goes on for kilometres… Be sure to try their specialties!
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT, China like you’ve never seen!!!

Changsha, the Gateway to Zhangjiajie — China | The Travel Intern
So you might have heard of the Avatar Hallelujah Mountains and all of its grandeur. HOWEVER!! It can get pretty tricky planning a trip there.
But before we let you in on our tips~ Here’s an article for you:
CHANGSHA (00:33)
00:40 - Huangxing Road
This walking street stretches SO a couple kilometres, but even if you walk from one end to the other, it won’t feel like you’ve walked several rounds around the track because there are endless things to eat, see and buy!
01:11 - Yuelu Shan (Mount Yuelu)
01:25 - Chuan Shi Po Lake
Also known as Yuelu Mountain, it’s a pretty sweet getaway from the city of Changsha!
*Pro-tip: Bring your student IDs for 50% off tickets up!
01:41 - Meixihu Cultural & Arts Center
Feels like you’ve stepped into another world.. Really. The infrastructure is crazy huge, and even with our lil mavic birdie up in the air to the MAX ALT HEIGHT, it couldn’t capture a top-down shot encompassing the whole campus!
01:53 - Juzizhou (Orange Isle)
Here’s where you can visit the iconic landmark of Changsha — Chairman Mao’s head! Tour the museum to find out more about his background and life story~
02:20 - Xihulou (West Lake Restaurant)It’s not everyday you get to dine in Asia’s largest Chinese restaurant… The food is pretty sick too, and you get to choose between different mini restaurants inside!
ZHANGJIAJIE (02:43)
02:46 - Laowuchang
This is believed to be the best sunrise spot in Zhangjiajie National Park, recommended to us by locals!
02:58 - Avatar Hallelujah Mountain
Here’s what you came for — the very, very, very famous Hallelujah Mountain. It was used as the inspiration of the Avatar movie’s other-worldly landscape.
03:09 - Bailong Elevator
It’s quite an experience, descending into the depths of ZJJ National Park!
03:22 - Baofeng Lake
Take a soothing, serene boat ride through Baofeng Lake to end the day~
03:35 - Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge
This is also another super famous and iconic landmark in ZJJ, but beware though, at ALL hours through the day, it’s going to be a crowded time. But don’t let that stop you from exploring different ways to pose for a picture ;-)
*Pro-tip: Get inspo from the locals themselves, they’re pretty solid at that.
03:57 - Tianmen Mountain
04:09 - Glass Bottom Cliffside Path
Tianmen Mountain is situated nearer to the city of ZJJ, not high up where the national park is, so do take note! Also, yay to more glass bottom bridges and paths!!
Next Wednesday, we’ll be bringing you more in-depth tips on how to scale Zhangjiajie, it’ll be super duper useful, so stay tuned!!

Around China : A tour around Changsha
Changsha is the capital city of Hubei Province in central China, located on the lower reaches of the Xiang River. With a rich history dating back more than 3,000 years, Changsha is considered one of the birthplaces of ancient Chinese civilization.
History: The city was an important cultural, economic, and political center during the Han dynasty, and later became a center of Buddhism during the Tang dynasty. In recent history, Changsha was a center of revolutionary activity during the early 20th century, and was one of the first cities to fall to the Communist forces in 1949.
Landmarks: Some of the most famous landmarks in Changsha include:
Yuelu Academy: one of the four great academies of ancient China, dating back to 976 AD
Orange Island: a park in the middle of the Xiang River, known for its scenic beauty and cultural attractions
Martyrs Park: a memorial park dedicated to the victims of the 1927 Nanchang Uprising
Hunan Museum: one of the largest museums in China, showcasing the history, culture, and natural resources of Hunan province
Mount Yuelu: a mountain located to the west of the city, offering scenic views of Changsha and the surrounding area
Tianxin Pavilion: a historic tower located in the center of the city, offering views of Changsha's skyline
Helong Stadium: a large sports complex, home to several professional sports teams in Changsha.
Orange Island: Orange Island is a scenic park located in the middle of the Xiang River in Changsha. It is named after the orange trees that once grew on the island. Today, the island is a popular tourist destination, featuring gardens, parks, museums, and cultural landmarks.
Night Life: Changsha has a lively nightlife, with a variety of bars, nightclubs, and entertainment venues to choose from. Many of the city's bars and nightclubs are located in the central business district, and offer a variety of music and entertainment options.
Food and Culture: Changsha is famous for its spicy food, including dishes such as hot pot and spicy crab. The city is also home to a thriving arts and cultural scene, with many museums, theaters, and galleries showcasing the best of Hunan culture.
Weather and Best Time to Visit: Changsha has a subtropical monsoon climate, with hot summers and cool winters. The best time to visit is from September to November, when temperatures are mild and the city is filled with the bright colors of fall foliage.
Overall, Changsha is a city with a rich history, a thriving cultural scene, and plenty of scenic beauty and attractions to explore. Whether you're interested in history, culture, food, or entertainment, Changsha has something for everyone.
