Route Description
The Ljubljanica River is one of the most special bodies of water in Slovenia, which is supplied with many karst influent streams. It vanishes into the ground and comes to the surface many times along its long and varied course, each time with a different name. It springs up in the foothills of Mount Snežnik as the Trbuhovca Stream, then later as the Obrh Stream, the Stržen Stream, the Rak Stream, the Pivka and Unica rivers, until it rises to the surface for the final time near Vrhnika as the Ljubljanica River. Its springs are divided into three major groups known as Močilnik, Retovje and Bistra. In addition, there are many other smaller springs, wells and affluents in this area.

Močilnik is a limestone steephead valley, out of which waters from the Big Močilnik Spring (Veliki Močilnik) and the Little Močilnik Spring (Mali Močilnik) flow into the Little Ljubljanica River (Mala Ljubljanica). The Big Močilnik Spring is located at the foot of the Devil’s Cliffs (Hudičeve skale), which are 40 meters (131.2 feet) high. According to Greek mythology, Greek heroes – Jason and the Argonauts – ended their sail along Ljubljanica right here. They disassembled their ship and carried it on their shoulders to the Adriatic Sea. As a memorial to their journey, Vrhnika’s emblem is an image of the ship Argo, and locals and visitors remember them every year during the Argonaut Days Festival.
In the Retovje Valley, slightly hidden in the wooded foothills of Raskovec Hill and the Ljubljana Peak, lies the spring of Big Ljubljanica Stream (Velika Ljubljanica), which joins the Little Ljubljanica Stream (Mala Ljubljanica) from Močilnik after about 1 km (0.10 miles) in the village of Verd. From here on, the river is called Ljubljanica. There are many little springs in the valley: ‘Pod skalco’, ‘Pod orehom’, ‘Malo okence’ and ‘Veliko okence’. The springs of the Big Ljubljanica Stream produce the greatest volume of water of all the Ljubljanica springs and in the 19th century more than 10 water powered sawmills were located here.
Bistra Springs can be found at the foot of a steep, tectonically shaped karst hillside halfway between the towns of Vrhnika and Borovnica. Their streams form the Bistra River about 400 meters (437 yards) away. Their defensive position played a key role for the protection of the Bistra Monastery. Springs’ waters come from the Cerknica Karst Field, the Rakov Škocjan Park and the Planina Karst Field. In the past, the water powered mills and other equipment at the monastery and the Bistra Castle. The flow of water was controlled by sluice gates close to the mills and sawmills.
Another natural wonder among the Ljubljanica Springs is the Lintvern Spring, the source of the Bela Stream. Lintvern is a natural monument and a karst phenomenon. Its water flow is not constant; sometimes the water gushes out with great force but at times the spring completely dries up. The Slovenian polymath Johann Weikhard von Valvasor wrote (1689) that the Lintvern Spring occasionally spews out baby dragons. These ‘dragons’, off course, were probably human fish offspring.

Po celem letu zaprtja in ne prehajanja občinskih meja zaradi Corona virusa, sem ostajal dobesedno doma. Saj v naši občini ni zadeve, ki bi bila zanimiva za obiskat, saj nimamo skoraj nič za pošten izlet.
Tokrat pa sva se le odločila z Matejo, da obiščeva en lepši kraj v Sloveniji, ki ni tako obiskan, pa je vendarle zelo zanimiv za prijeten družinski izlet. Govorim o planini Zajamniki nad Bohinjem.

Razgledna točka Peč nad Bohinjskim jezerom ( Ribčev laz). Kako do tu?
Parkiraš na prvem parkirnem prostoru na poti od Ribčevga Laza proti Stari Fužini, na desni strani. Pot nadaljuješ do prvega mostu in ga prečkaš. Nato pa samo naravnost v hrib, kjer so tudi table z opisom. Slabe pol ure in prideš do željene točke.

Slap Savica, Bohinj ( Slovenija ) VLOG # 33
Obisk Slapa Savica, vedno prijetno in občudovano. Kadarkoli ga obiščemo v času turistične sezone naredimo napako, ker gremo do slapu prepozno, danes ob 10h.
V tem času je priporočljivo takoj ob 8h dopoldan ko se uradno odpre, ali pa še malo prej, vendar v tem primeru čez ograjo.
Če se peljete z avtomobilom do koče pod Savico, je tu lepo urejeno parkirišče, vendar je plačljivo 4€ za 3 ure ali 8€ za cel dan. Tu ti ne pomaga kartica ugodnosti, ker je privatno parkirišče (Cerkev)

After a devastating freezing rain in February 2014, no electric operation was possible on the Slovenian main line Ljubljana - Koper in the section Borovnica - Divača. In March 2014, diesels temporarily ran between Borovnica and Divača. In this clip, the diesels between
Borovnica and Pivka are shown. There will be a second clip on the section from Pivka to Divača, on which, currently, electric operation has been renewed in April 2014. No need to say that I had big fun experiencing the diesels class SŽ 644 and SŽ 664.1, hauling heavy

Hell Gorge (Slovene: soteska Pekel) is a 1.5-kilometre (0.93 mi) gorge in central Slovenia, located near the settlement of Ohonica,[1] 4 km (2.5 mi) southwest of the village of Borovnica and 23 km (14 mi) from Ljubljana. Borovniščica Creek has created many erosion features such as pools, rapids, and waterfalls, of which five are extremely beautiful and well known because they plunge from 20 to 5 m (66 to 16 ft). It has been proclaimed a natural value of national significance.

Ljubljana Botanical Garden
The Ljubljana Botanical Garden (Slovene: Ljubljanski botanični vrt), officially the University of Ljubljana Botanical Garden (Botanični vrt Univerze v Ljubljani), is the central Slovenian botanical garden, the oldest botanical garden in Southeastern Europe, and one of the oldest cultural, scientific, and educational organisations in Slovenia. Its headquarters are located in the Rudnik District of Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital, at Ig Street (Ižanska cesta) along the Gruber Canal to the southeast of Castle Hill. The garden started operating under the leadership of Franc Hladnik in 1810, when Ljubljana was the capital of the Illyrian Provinces. It is thus an averagely old European botanical garden. The institution is a member of the international network Botanic Gardens Conservation International and cooperates with more than 270 botanical gardens all across the world. Of over 4,500 plant species and subspecies that grow on 2 hectares (4.9 acres), roughly a third is endemic to Slovenia, whereas the rest originate from other European places and other continents.
