This is Guinea Bissau, Africa You Don't See on TV #GuineaBissau Africa Ep. 6

Guinea-Bissau is a tropical country on West Africa’s Atlantic coast that’s known for national parks and wildlife. The forested, sparsely populated Bijagós archipelago is a protected biosphere reserve. Its main island, Bubaque, forms part of the Orango Islands National Park, a habitat for saltwater hippos. On the mainland, the capital, Bissau, is a port with Portuguese colonial buildings in its old city center.

The distance from Jegue border to Bissau is about 130km. It takes about 3 and half hours drive due to the poor state of the roads. Which is surprising because along the way there's about 5police stops where you will have to pay for the road at every stop. It's also advisable to have a 4 wheel drive especially during rainy season.

So let's talk a little bit about Guinea Bissau. Did you know that Guinea Bissau official language is Portuguese but is spoken by only about 11% of the population. The local dialect is creole
2. The main form of foreign exchange is Cashew nuts. Some people call it the cashew coast of Africa
3. 80% of the population is employed in Agriculture with cashewnuts be in my the major two ethnic groups being Fulani being at 28% and balanta at 23%,

Guinea Bissau || Why You Should Visit It Right Now

In this video, we are going to give you 5 reasons why you should visit Guinea Bissau Right Now.

Many people confuse Guinea Bissau, that small country on the west coast of Africa, with others like Guinea Conakry, Equatorial Guinea, or New Guinea.

Guinea Bissau, which is listed 7th among the 15 least visited countries on earth, is one of the most amazing countries I have ever visited. This is a place where you can still experience the true and unspoiled Africa, far from large hotels and tourist resorts and among the local population.

Guinea Bissau is a small developing country on the West Africa coast, between Senegal and Guinea Conakry, and was until 1973 a Portuguese colony.

Guinea Bissau, unlike the frequent news associated with political instability, which gives it a negative image, is a safe country, with friendly and welcoming people. Anyway, as in any place, you should be careful to go to certain more isolated places, especially at night.

So, Why should you visit Guinea Bissau?

00:00 **Intro**
01:03 **Reason 1: Just because!**
02:30 **Reason 2: Guinea Bissau has a great archipelago off the coast.**
04:05 **Reason 3. Tourism equals money equals development.**
05:29 **Reason 4. The People and the food**
07:35 **Reason 5. Because it is an undeveloped and unspoiled country.**

In this video, we are going to give you 5 reasons why you should visit Guinea Bissau as soon as possible.

You Have To See These Fascinating Places in Guinea-Bissau ❤️ | Curiosity Juice | Country Tour #71

You will definitely would wish to travel to Guinea-Bissau after watching this video. From the desert ridges of Muslim Gabú in the east to the throbbing port sides of Bissau (the capital) in the west, this country’s got chimps and rolling savannah, rainforests, wending rivers, colonial architecture and more.

How many of the places you have seen already in this video? Don't forget to mention in comments
Don't forget to subscribe so that you can watch new videos posted daily!

Cities
Bissau - capital
Bafatá - Bafata is a pleasant town with an interesting colonial centre, located on the Rio Gêba. Hometown of Bissau-Guinean patriot Amilcar Cabral. Ask around near the old market to visit his house.
Bissora - Bissora is a town in the region of Oio. The majority of people living in the Bissora sector belong to the Balanta ethnic group.
Bolama - capital of the country until 1941, has some magnificent examples of colonial architecture and has been suggested as a world heritage site.
Buba - End of the tarmac going to the south of Guinea-Bissau. The town is built along a tidal river, the Rio Grande de Buba. Decent hotel.
Bubaque - Largest town in the Bijagos archipelago, with hotels and harbor for boat trips to other islands.
Cacheu - Cacheu was once an important place for slave-trading, and there is still a little fort.
Catió-
Farim
Gabú - Bustling, friendly market town with a few nightclubs, bars and hotels.

Key Destinations
- Bijagos Islands - an archipelago of some twenty tropical, beautiful islands. On the island of Orango it is possible to see hippos, and there are many other possibilities of eco tourism on the unspoiled islands. On some islands there are even turtle nesting grounds. Many islands have French-owned fishing lodges.
- Varela - Just south of Cap Skirring, but on the Guinea-Bissau side of the border, it is a tour de force to get to Varela on a 50 km long bumpy dirt road from São Domingos - but it is all rewarded when you reach this little paradise, with a superb Italian-owned hotel, beautiful beaches and pine forests and a very relaxed atmosphere with almost no other tourists. You may contact the small hotel in Varela via their Facebook page: Aparthotel Chez Helene
- Boé Sector - The country's most South-Eastern corner is a mosaic of savannah, forest and farmland. Its remoteness has left the sector underdeveloped, but its Fular/Mandinka population is warm and welcoming. Primates constitute the majority of large mammals in the Boé, chiefly among them a healthy population (possibly 1000+) of chimpanzees. Although they are shy and not habituated to humans, there is a chance for ecotourists to spot humanity's closest relative. The Fonda Huuwa campsite in the main village Béli offers huts and meals at shoestring prices.

GUINEE BISSAU ???????? | ????️????

At 36,125 square kilometres , the country is larger in size than Taiwan or Belgium. The highest point is Monte Torin with an elevation of 262 metres. Its terrain is mostly low coastal plains with swamps of the Guinean mangroves rising to the Guinean forest-savanna mosaic in the east. The country is also home to two ecoregions: Guinean forest-savanna mosaic and Guinean mangroves.
Guinea-Bissau is warm all year round with mild temperature fluctuations; it averages 26.3 °C. The average rainfall for Bissau is 2,024 millimetres , although this is almost entirely accounted for during the rainy season which falls between June and September/October. From December through April, the country experiences drought. also, Guinea-Bissau is divided into eight regions and one autonomous sector. These, in turn, are subdivided into 37 Sectors.
No matter where you go on the African continent, you can see women carrying heavy loads of goods on the top of their heads and it's fascinating! Many of them can carry up to 70% of their body weight, which is nearly impossible to do with just your two hands.

I'm here in Guinea-Bissau, the tiny Portuguese-speaking West African nation, and I wanted to dedicate this video entirely to these strong women who have an impressive sense of balance.

I tried to walk 5 steps with 30 kilos of rice on my head, and it's a LOT harder than I thought...

Guinea-Bissau (/ˌɡɪni bɪˈsaʊ/ (audio speaker iconlisten); Portuguese: Guiné-Bissau, Fula: ???????????????? ???????????????????????????? Gine-Bisaawo, Mandinka: ߖߌߣߍ ߺ ߓߌߛߊߥߏ߫ Gine-Bisawo), officially the Republic of Guinea-Bissau (Portuguese: República da Guiné-Bissau [ʁɛˈpuβlikɐ ðɐ ɣiˈnɛ βiˈsaw]), is a country in West Africa that covers 36,125 square kilometres (13,948 sq mi) with an estimated population of 1,726,000. It borders Senegal to the north and Guinea to the south-east.[7]

Guinea-Bissau was once part of the kingdom of Kaabu,[8] as well as part of the Mali Empire.[8] Parts of this kingdom persisted until the 18th century, while a few others were under some rule by the Portuguese Empire since the 16th century. In the 19th century, it was colonised as Portuguese Guinea.[8] Upon independence, declared in 1973 and recognised in 1974, the name of its capital, Bissau, was added to the country's name to prevent confusion with Guinea (formerly French Guinea). Guinea-Bissau has a history of political instability since independence, and only one elected president (José Mário Vaz) has successfully served a full five-year term. The current president is Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who was elected on 29 December 2019.

Only about 2% of the population speaks Portuguese, the official language, as a first language, and 33% speak it as a second language. However, Guinea-Bissau Creole, a Portuguese-based creole, is the national language and also considered the language of unity. According to a 2012 study, 54% of the population speak Creole as a first language and about 40% speak it as a second language.[11] The remainder speak a variety of native African languages. There are diverse religions in Guinea-Bissau. Christianity and Islam are the main religions practised in the country. The country's per-capita gross domestic product is one of the lowest in the world mapa de Guinea Bissau Africa Guinea-Bissau follows a nonaligned foreign policy and seeks friendly and cooperative relations with a wide variety of states and organisations.[citation needed]

Guinea-Bissau is a founding member state of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), also known as the Lusophone Commonwealth, and international organisation and political association of Lusophone nations across four continents, where Portuguese is an official language.[58]
