The Kingdom of Swaziland: A Royal Experience [Official TV Spot]
Despite being the smallest country in the Southern hemisphere, Swaziland more than makes up for its lack of size with a hugely diverse range of attractions and activities.
As one of the few remaining Executive Monarchies in Africa, culture and heritage are deeply engrained in all aspects of Swazi life, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all who visit. As well as the rich culture, the overwhelming friendliness of the people makes all visitors feel truly welcome and very safe. Add to that a stunning landscapes of mountains and valleys, forests and plains; plus wildlife reserves across the country that are home to The Big Five, and you have all that’s best about Africa in one small but perfectly formed and welcoming country.

The Kingdom of Swaziland is a landlocked country in southern Africa, bordered by South Africa and Mozambique. Unlike the crowded safari parks of South Africa, Swaziland boasts an impressive variety of animals without the mass tourism to spoil the experience.
Here are four of Swaziland’s top safari parks!
Hlane Royal National Park is the largest national park in the country and has the largest conservation of game in the kingdom. They have the 4 of the big 5 missing the buffalo. My highlights were the Rhino and Lions.
Hlane covers an area of about 85 square miles. In the dryer months the animals are easy to spot gathered around the watering holes. It was so amazing to see so many rhinos on my game drives. There were also giraffes, elephants, and of course my favorite – lions. I had to wake up extra early to spot this guy, but it was totally worth it. There are two camps to choose from in Hlane.
Next up is Mbuluzi, a private game reserve with an impressive number of grazing animals. It covers an area of 3,000 hectares and borders the Lubombo Mountains, Mlawula Nature Reserve and Hlane Royal Park.
We are going on a game drive with our own vehicle, but you can also reserve a game drive at the reception with one of the guides.
Since there are no predatory animals here visitors enjoy the privilege of driving, walking or cycling around the reserve freely, without the supervision of a guide. Here, you won’t find the Big 5 but you will spot several giraffes! The park is also home to impala, zebra, kudu and nyala.
Mkaya Game Reserve was established in the mid 1980's and at the moment we are heading on a game drive to see black rhino, white rhino and elephants. Mkaya is one of the best parks in Swaziland to see Rhino up close.
The white rhino is endangered in Africa. If you are looking to see rhino in Swaziland this is the park to visit. There are two lodges in Mkhaya to choose from, the luxurious Stone Camp and the more rustic Lituba Lodge.
And last but not least, this is Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. This was the first wildlife sanctuary to be established in the country in the year 1961. Some of the animals we can see here are wildebeest, zebra, hippo, antelope and crocodiles.
You’ll notice that the landscape here is different because the park is situated in Swaziland;s Ezulwini Valley, between Mbabane and Manzini. The park is divided into northern and southern sections.
The wide open spaces allow for great visibility and epic photo opportunities. There are four lodges here, three of which are budget friendly.
There are the top 4 safari parks in Swaziland! Which was your favorite? Leave me a question or comment below!

Swaziland, officially the Kingdom of Swaziland (/swɑːzɨlænd/ or /swɑːzɨlənd/; Swazi: Umbuso weSwatini) and sometimes called kaNgwane or Eswatini, is a sovereign state in Southern Africa surrounded – with the exception of Mozambique to its east – by South Africa. It and its ethnic people take their names from Mswati II, the 19th-century king under whose rule Swazi territory was expanded and unified.
Swaziland is one of the smallest countries in Africa. It is no more than 200 kilometres (120 mi) north to south and 130 kilometres (81 mi) east to west. Regardless, the country has a very diverse topography of varying climate with a cool and mountainous highveld and a hot and dry lowveld. The population is primarily ethnic Swazis whose language is siSwati. They established their kingdom in the mid 18th century under the leadership of Ngwane III; the present boundaries were drawn up in 1881. After the Anglo-Boer War, Swaziland was a British protectorate from 1903 until 1967, gaining independence on 6 September 1968.
The country is a monarchy, currently ruled by King (Ngwenyama) Mswati III. The king is head of state and appoints the prime minister and a number of representatives of both chambers of parliament. Elections are held every five years to determine the majority of the house of assembly. The current constitution was adopted in 2005. Swaziland is a member of the Southern African Development Community, the African Union, and the Commonwealth of Nations.
Swaziland is a developing country, with a small economy. It is classified as a lower-middle-income country with a GDP per capita of $6,367. With membership in the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) and COMESA, its main trading partners are South Africa, United States, European Union, and the country's currency, the lilangeni, is pegged to the South African Rand. The agriculture and manufacturing sectors of the country's economy are responsible for the majority of employment.
The Swazi population faces major health issues. HIV/AIDS, and to a lesser extent, tuberculosis are the main health challenges. As of year 2013, Swaziland has an estimated life expectancy of 50 years. The population of Swaziland is fairly young with a median age of 20.5 years with people 14 years old and below making up 37.4% of the total population. The present population growth rate is 1.195%.
Swaziland is well known for its culture. Umhlanga, held in the month of August/September, and incwala, the dance of the kingship held in December/January, are the most important national events.
Artifacts indicating human activity dating back to the early Stone Age 200,000 years ago have been found in the Kingdom of Swaziland. Prehistoric rock art paintings date from c. 25,000 BC and continuing up to the 19th century can be found in various places around the country.
The earliest known inhabitants of the region were Khoisan hunter-gatherers. They were largely replaced by the Bantu tribes during Bantu migrations who hailed from the Great Lakes regions of eastern and central Africa. Evidence of agriculture and iron use dates from about the 4th century and people speaking languages ancestral to current Sotho and Nguni languages began settling no later than the 11th century. The Swazi settlers, then known as the Ngwane (or bakaNgwane), before entering Swaziland had been settled on the banks of the Pongola River and prior to that in the area of the Tembe River near present day Maputo. Continuing conflict with the Ndwandwe people pushed them further north, with Ngwane III establishing his capital at Shiselweni at the foot of the Mhlosheni hills. Under Sobhuza I, the Ngwane people eventually established their capital at Zombodze in the heartland of present-day Swaziland. In this process, they conquered and incorporated the long established clans of the country known to the Swazi as Emakhandzambili.

About Me //
I am 25, from Marietta, Georgia and I started this channel in 2013 in my final semester of my college. After graduating from Auburn University in Alabama I spent four months in Europe and tried my hand at vloging. You can watch the whole series here and forgive me for filming it on my iPhone. Right after traveling I moved to DC where I lived for two years. Last summer I backpacked through Central America and produced a 10 part vlog series about that as well. I currently am traveling on World Race. The World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 countries. I post videos almost every day, so subscribe and stay a while if you want to see more.

Our Next Adventure (retro) - Beehive Huts in Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, Swaziland
Highly recommend visiting Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. Great balance between comfort and wilderness. Meaning, this isn't a resort first with a tourist's safari experience. This IS a game reserve.
With no predators, a definite highlight is renting a mountain bike and cycling freely around the park. It is amazing to zip down a dirt road and come face to face with a herd of wild Kudu.

SWAZILAND: The EXOTIC MARKET of MBABANE (AFRICA), what to see
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go grab ourselves a bargain as you wander between the stalls of Mbabane Market in Swaziland, Africa. The bustling market features numerous traders selling many distinctive local crafts, such as soapstone figurines, woven textiles, and handmade masks. We will visit shoe repairing shops, barber shops and chicken selling shops. Oh, do not let me forget the containers filled with a strange brown concoction; these are actually natural herbs that act like medicinal remedies. You can also find a wide selection of organic fruits and vegetables of African origin in the market.
