10 Things to do in Bratislava, Slovakia Travel Guide Video Transcript:
We're visiting Bratislava, Slovakia and in this video we're going to show you guys 10 things to do in Bratislava. Let's get started.
Our first stop was Devin Castle, which is located in Devin, a borough of Bratislava. This is the one attraction we visited that was a little further from the Old Town - a 30-minute bus ride.
Devin Castle is a ruined castle that sits on Slovak territory at the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers.
We ate at a restaurant called “Modra Hviezda” which is located at the base of Bratislava Castle and feels like a cave.
Bratislava Castle was Built in the 9th century and modified over the centuries many times over, this 4-towered castle sits perched on a hill overlooking the Danube River.
You get nice views over the Old Town, plus you have the Slovak National Museum & the Baroque Gardens on the north side of the palace.
The following day, we set out to explore the Old Town and stopping cafe for a decadent breakfast.
Bratislava’s Old Town is compact & easy to explore on foot and cover most of the sights in one day. We went on our own do-it-yourself tour finding all sorts of interesting statues & landmarks.
The Blue Church is located on Bezručova Street, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Old Town designed in the art nouveau style.
Locals in Bratislava like to say that the best view of their city is from the UFO Bridge because you can’t see the UFO bridge. You get amazing views of Bratislava during sunset.
And while you’re down by the Danube, you can either enjoy a stroll along the river, or go on a sightseeing cruise.
Prašná bašta is another cozy restaurant located at basement level and we had another wonderful meal.
For sports fans be sure to check out a HC Slovan Bratislava ice hockey game. They play in the KHL and the level of hockey and entertainment value is fantastic.
And that’s a wrap for our trip to Bratislava. While we can see the appeal of doing this as a day trip from Vienna, we loved having the extra time to really enjoy the city, try out some great restaurants, and make it to some of the further attractions like Devin Castle. If you have a few days to spare, this is a great little capital to visit.
Any other things to do in Bratislava that we may have missed, feel free to share your suggestions with travellers in the comments below.
This is part of our Travel in Slovakia video series showcasing Slovak food (Slovakian food), Slovak culture (Slovakian culture) and Slovak cuisine (Slovakian cuisine).

Reuploaded a modified version in order to try to fix the music which was out of sync. Of course it didn't work. Great. You'll have to get over it, I'm sorry. Youtube is a steaming pile of crap.
The full video has finally arrived - and it's only one year late. Instead of reading this, you should go and watch it NOW.
Or wait, before you ask - the music (which is very epic) can be found here:
Maybe you could leave a comment if you liked the video?
Enough reading, go and watch it now. Thanks. And thanks for your patience, Epsilon - it took me way too long to get my ass moving and finish the video, but I hope it was worth the wait.

Bratislava City Tour - Top 10 Things to Visit
Bratislava City Tour for Tourists - what to visit in Bratislava, where to eat. TOP 10 THINGS TO VISIT IN BRATISLAVA.
WHAT TO VISIT:
St. Martin's Cathedral (Dóm sv. Martina ) – the largest and one of the oldest churches in Bratislava, situated below Bratislava Castle. The Gothic cathedral, formerly the coronation-church of several Hungarian kings, begun in 1204, and reconsecrated in 1445, was restored in 1861-80. The tower is surmounted by a pyramid bearing a gilded Hungarian royal crown. Monday – Saturday 9:00 – 11:30 & 13:00 – 17:00, Sunday 13:30 – 16:00.
Bratislava Castle (Bratislavský hrad ) – the castle itself is already opened after reconstruction and hosts the expositions.
The SNP Bridge (Most SNP; previously called Nový most – The New Bridge) – a bridge over the Danube river, with its flying saucer-shaped structure housing a restaurant called UFO . There is an observation deck on its roof, open from 10:00 – 23:00 daily, offering great views of the old town, as well as the apartment blocks in Petržalka. Entrance costs €6.50, but is free of charge if you eat in the restaurant.
Slavín monument – on the top of the hill behind the castle, overlooking the entire city. This is a monument in memory of Soviet casualties in the liberation battle of Bratislava in World War II. It is the highest place in the city, and thus the best place for viewing the city. Slavin actually is a cemetery and thus rather quiet. On warm nights it's a very romantic place, allowing you to sit in the shadows of the monument and look at the traffic below. To get there, take trolleybus no. 203 from Hodžovo námestie (in front of the Presidential Palace) in the direction Búdková and get off in 9 minutes at the last stop, then walk 500 m along Stará vinárska and then Pažického streets. Slavin is near an embassy district.
Devín Castle (hrad Devín) – ruins of the large castle next to the confluence of the Danube river with the Morava river. It is about 20 minutes from the SNP Bridge with bus no. 28 or 29. The place is nice for walks and there are many monuments and statues.
Eurovea – the shopping centre situated just next to the Danube river. There is a promenade close to the river where people like to relax in the grass. Next to the Eurovea there is a new building of the Slovak National Theatre (nová budova Slovenského národného divadla) as well as The Warehouse no. 7 (Sklad č. 7) – an example of the industrial architecture in Bratislava.
Bratislava Klarisky Convent
St. Clare's Church (Kostol sv. Kláry) – a Gothic church on Klariská street, in the historical center; currently used as a concert hall.

1) Banská Bystrica
The Slovak Republic is a landlocked state in Central Europe. It has a population of over five million and an area of about 49,000 square kilometres (19,000 sq mi). Slovakia is bordered by the Czech Republic and Austria to the west, Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east and Hungary to the south. The largest city is the capital, Bratislava, and the second largest is Košice. Slovakia is a member state of the European Union, NATO, United Nations, OECD and WTO among others. The official language is Slovak, a member of the Slavic language family.
The Slavs arrived in the territory of present-day Slovakia in the 5th and 6th centuries during the migration period. In the course of history, various parts of today's Slovakia belonged to Samo's Empire (the first known political unit of Slavs), Principality of Nitra (as independent polity, as part of Great Moravia and as part of Hungarian Kingdom), Great Moravia, Kingdom of Hungary, the Austro-Hungarian Empire or Habsburg Empire, and Czechoslovakia. A separate Slovak state briefly existed during World War II, during which Slovakia was a dependency of Nazi Germany (from 1939 to 1944). From 1945 Slovakia once again became a part of Czechoslovakia. The present-day Slovakia became an independent state on 1 January 1993 after the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia.
Slovakia is a high-income advanced economy with one of the fastest growth rates in the European Union and the OECD. The country joined the European Union in 2004 and the Eurozone on 1 January 2009. Slovakia together with Slovenia and Estonia are the only former Communist states to be part of the European Union, Eurozone, Schengen Area and NATO simultaneously. Source:
