Our visit Bratislava travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (Slovak), top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting castles, churches, the old town and museums and Bratislava by night for ice hockey. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Bratislava tourism brochure, Bratislava itinerary or Bratislava, Slovakia city tour.

10 Things to do in Bratislava, Slovakia Travel Guide Video Transcript:

We're visiting Bratislava, Slovakia and in this video we're going to show you guys 10 things to do in Bratislava. Let's get started.

Our first stop was Devin Castle, which is located in Devin, a borough of Bratislava. This is the one attraction we visited that was a little further from the Old Town - a 30-minute bus ride.

Devin Castle is a ruined castle that sits on Slovak territory at the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers.

We ate at a restaurant called “Modra Hviezda” which is located at the base of Bratislava Castle and feels like a cave.

Bratislava Castle was Built in the 9th century and modified over the centuries many times over, this 4-towered castle sits perched on a hill overlooking the Danube River.

You get nice views over the Old Town, plus you have the Slovak National Museum & the Baroque Gardens on the north side of the palace.

The following day, we set out to explore the Old Town and stopping cafe for a decadent breakfast.

Bratislava’s Old Town is compact & easy to explore on foot and cover most of the sights in one day. We went on our own do-it-yourself tour finding all sorts of interesting statues & landmarks.

The Blue Church is located on Bezručova Street, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Old Town designed in the art nouveau style.

Locals in Bratislava like to say that the best view of their city is from the UFO Bridge because you can’t see the UFO bridge. You get amazing views of Bratislava during sunset.

And while you’re down by the Danube, you can either enjoy a stroll along the river, or go on a sightseeing cruise.

Prašná bašta is another cozy restaurant located at basement level and we had another wonderful meal.

For sports fans be sure to check out a HC Slovan Bratislava ice hockey game. They play in the KHL and the level of hockey and entertainment value is fantastic.

And that’s a wrap for our trip to Bratislava. While we can see the appeal of doing this as a day trip from Vienna, we loved having the extra time to really enjoy the city, try out some great restaurants, and make it to some of the further attractions like Devin Castle. If you have a few days to spare, this is a great little capital to visit.

Any other things to do in Bratislava that we may have missed, feel free to share your suggestions with travellers in the comments below.

This is part of our Travel in Slovakia video series showcasing Slovak food (Slovakian food), Slovak culture (Slovakian culture) and Slovak cuisine (Slovakian cuisine).

Slovakia: The Unknown Beauty (Full Video) - Reuploaded

Reuploaded a modified version in order to try to fix the music which was out of sync. Of course it didn't work. Great. You'll have to get over it, I'm sorry. Youtube is a steaming pile of crap.

The full video has finally arrived - and it's only one year late. Instead of reading this, you should go and watch it NOW.

Or wait, before you ask - the music (which is very epic) can be found here:

Maybe you could leave a comment if you liked the video?

Enough reading, go and watch it now. Thanks. And thanks for your patience, Epsilon - it took me way too long to get my ass moving and finish the video, but I hope it was worth the wait.

13 Best Attractions in Eastern Europe

Top 13 Best Attractions in Eastern Europe according to Lonely Planet

13. Lviv, Ukraine
Lviv is in Western Ukraine and used to be the capital of East Galicia. It's the biggest city of the region and a major Ukrainian cultural centre on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Because of its Polish and Austro-Hungarian history, Lviv has a Central European flair in its architecture that makes it one of the most beautiful cities in Eastern Europe.

12. Castles & Mountains of Transylvania, Romania
The Romanian region that so ghoulishly inspired Irish writer Bram Stoker to create his Dracula has some seriously spooky castles around. Monumental Bran Castle, south of Braşov, is suitably vampiric, but our favourite haunt has to be the 13th-century Râşnov fortress just down the road.

11. Taking an Overnight Train
With the windows down and the scenery racing past, there are few modes of transport more pleasurable than the overnight sleeper train -- the best way to get about in Eastern Europe.

10. Walking Dubrovnik's Old City Walls, Croatia
The city of Dubrovnik was built on maritime trade. In the Middle Ages it became the only city-state in the Adriatic to rival Venice. Supported by its wealth and skilled diplomacy, the city achieved a remarkable level of development during the 15th and 16th centuries.

9. Tallinn, Estonia
Tallinn is a historic city dating back to medieval times. The first fortress on Toompea was built in 1050 and Tallinn was first recorded on a world map in 1154. In 1219, the city was conquered by Valdemar II of Denmark, but it was soon sold to the Hanseatic League in 1285. The city, known as Reval at the time, prospered as a trading town in the 14th century, and much of Tallinn's historic centre was built at this time.

8. Black Sea Beaches, Bulgaria
The Bulgarian seaside has one of the best beaches in Europe. With settlements ranging from small calm villages, through luxurious five-star resorts, to modern urban cities, the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast can satisfy any taste and during the days of the hot Bulgarian summer. Most of the towns and villages along the coastline can be traced back to Ancient Greece.

7. Bay of Kotor, Montenegro
Kotor is situated in a most secluded part of Boka Kotorska bay, in the northern part of the Montenegro coast. It has developed around Stari Grad, the city's old town and best known landmark, which is listed with UNESCO World heritage sites. The bay is the deepest natural fjord in the Mediterranean Sea, and the scenery around it is spectacular.

6. Budapest, Hungary
Budapest is the capital city of Hungary. With a unique, youthful atmosphere, world-class classical music scene as well as a pulsating nightlife increasingly appreciated among European youth, and last but not least, an exceptional offer of natural thermal baths, Budapest is one of Europe's most delightful and enjoyable cities.

5. Kraków, Poland
The city of Kraków is in the lowland of the Lesser Poland region in the southern region of Poland. It is the capital city of the Lesser Poland Voivodship. It covers both banks of the Wisla river. Uplands region at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. It is Poland's second largest city, with a population of 756,000.

4. Hiking the High Tatras, Slovakia
High Tatras stretch in the northern part of Slovakia bordering Poland and belong to Carpathian mountain range. High Tatras are divided into three parts Western, High and Belianske Tatras.

3. Moscow's Red Square, Russia

Saint Petersburg, founded in 1703, it is not ancient, but its historical cityscape is remarkably well-preserved. The center of Saint Petersburg occupies numerous islands of the Neva River delta, divided by waterways and connected by huge drawbridges.

Bratislava City Tour - Top 10 Things to Visit

Bratislava City Tour for Tourists - what to visit in Bratislava, where to eat. TOP 10 THINGS TO VISIT IN BRATISLAVA.

WHAT TO VISIT:
St. Martin's Cathedral [32] (Dóm sv. Martina [33]) – the largest and one of the oldest churches in Bratislava, situated below Bratislava Castle. The Gothic cathedral, formerly the coronation-church of several Hungarian kings, begun in 1204, and reconsecrated in 1445, was restored in 1861-80. The tower is surmounted by a pyramid bearing a gilded Hungarian royal crown. Monday – Saturday 9:00 – 11:30 & 13:00 – 17:00, Sunday 13:30 – 16:00.
Bratislava Castle [34] (Bratislavský hrad [35]) – the castle itself is already opened after reconstruction and hosts the expositions.
The SNP Bridge (Most SNP; previously called Nový most – The New Bridge) – a bridge over the Danube river, with its flying saucer-shaped structure housing a restaurant called UFO [36]. There is an observation deck on its roof, open from 10:00 – 23:00 daily, offering great views of the old town, as well as the apartment blocks in Petržalka. Entrance costs €6.50, but is free of charge if you eat in the restaurant.
Slavín monument [37] – on the top of the hill behind the castle, overlooking the entire city. This is a monument in memory of Soviet casualties in the liberation battle of Bratislava in World War II. It is the highest place in the city, and thus the best place for viewing the city. Slavin actually is a cemetery and thus rather quiet. On warm nights it's a very romantic place, allowing you to sit in the shadows of the monument and look at the traffic below. To get there, take trolleybus no. 203 from Hodžovo námestie (in front of the Presidential Palace) in the direction Búdková and get off in 9 minutes at the last stop, then walk 500 m along Stará vinárska and then Pažického streets. Slavin is near an embassy district.
Devín Castle (hrad Devín) – ruins of the large castle next to the confluence of the Danube river with the Morava river. It is about 20 minutes from the SNP Bridge with bus no. 28 or 29. The place is nice for walks and there are many monuments and statues.
Eurovea – the shopping centre situated just next to the Danube river. There is a promenade close to the river where people like to relax in the grass. Next to the Eurovea there is a new building of the Slovak National Theatre (nová budova Slovenského národného divadla) as well as The Warehouse no. 7 (Sklad č. 7) – an example of the industrial architecture in Bratislava.

Bratislava Klarisky Convent
St. Clare's Church (Kostol sv. Kláry) – a Gothic church on Klariská street, in the historical center; currently used as a concert hall.
