Cayman Islands - Best things to do! Catamaran, Snorkeling..

Grand Cayman is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean with the crystal clear waters, white sand beaches, snorkeling off a catamaran, and beautiful weather. Our short time in Grand Cayman was filled with activities, swimming with sting rays, riding horses in the ocean, and walking the white sand on seven mile beach. The cayman islands are perfect for honeymooners, families, and adventurers as there's something for everyone. During our time there, we stayed at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman. This is one of, if not the best hotel on the island.

Best Place to Stay Grand Cayman

Cruise Ship & Island Travel Gear & Advice -

The Cayman Islands are a fantastic place to vacation! I've been to Grand Cayman several times and wanted to share my Cayman travel advice with everyone. There are two excellent places to stay on Grand Cayman. Seven Mile Beach is likely the most well-known and popular area. There are plenty of hotels and vacation rentals on Seven Mile Beach. The Westin and Ritz-Carlton are the two top resorts on Seven Mile Beach. There are plenty of bars and restaurants right on Seven Mile Beach. For a little more privacy and adventure, I recommend staying on the northern side of the island near Rum Point. Rum Point is a fantastic beach and is less touristy than Seven Mile Beach. Rum Point comes with a trade-off though, as the big grocery stores, shopping, etc. are close to Georgetown which is about a 45 minutes drive from Rum Point. The drive is definitely not a problem though. Please share this video with others. Filmed with Canon XA10 camera. Contains royalty-free music from .

10 Best Places To Go Scuba Diving

Scuba diving is a form of underwater diving in which a diver uses a self contained underwater breathing apparatus (scuba) to breathe underwater.

Unlike other modes of diving, which rely either on breath-hold or on air pumped from the surface, scuba divers carry their own source of breathing gas, (usually compressed air), allowing them greater freedom of movement than with an air line or diver's umbilical and longer underwater endurance than breath-hold. Scuba equipment may be open circuit, in which exhaled gas is expelled to the surroundings, or a closed or semi-closed circuit rebreather, in which the breathing gas is scrubbed to remove carbon dioxide, and the oxygen used is replenished from a supply of feed gas before being re-breathed.

A scuba diver usually moves around underwater by using fins attached to the feet, but external propulsion can be provided by a diver propulsion vehicle, or a sled pulled from the surface.

The closed-circuit rebreathers were first developed for military use, due to their stealth advantages. The first commercially successful closed-circuit scuba was designed and built by English diving engineer, Henry Fleuss in 1878, while working for Siebe Gorman in London. His self contained breathing apparatus consisted of a rubber mask connected to a breathing bag, with (estimated) 50-60% O2 supplied from a copper tank and CO2 scrubbed by rope yarn soaked in a solution of caustic potash; the system giving a duration of about three hours.

Sir Robert Davis, head of Siebe Gorman, perfected the oxygen rebreather in 1910 with his invention of the Davis Submerged Escape Apparatus, the first practical rebreather to be made in quantity.

Rebreathers have been increasingly used by civilians for recreation, especially since the end of Cold War. This reduced the perceived risk of attack by Communist Bloc forces, including by their combat divers. After that, the world's armed forces had less reason to requisition civilian rebreather patents, and automatic and semi-automatic recreational diving rebreathers started to appear.

The first commercially successful scuba sets were the Aqualung twin hose open-circuit units developed by Emile Gagnan and Jacques-Yves Cousteau, in which compressed air carried in back mounted cylinders is inhaled through a demand regulator and then exhaled into the water adjacent to the tank.

The single hose two stage scuba regulators trace their origins to Australia, where Ted Eldred developed the first example of this type of regulator, known as Porpoise scuba gear. This was developed, because patents protected the Aqualung's twin hose design. The single hose regulator separates the cylinder from the demand valve, giving the diver air at the pressure at their mouth, not that at the top of the cylinder.

By the early twentieth century, two basic templates for scuba, (self-contained underwater breathing apparatus), had emerged; open-circuit scuba where the diver's exhaust is vented directly into the water, and closed-circuit scuba where the diver's unused oxygen is filtered from the carbon dioxide and recirculated.

Scuba Diving in Grand Cayman 2018

Scuba Diving in Grand Cayman 2018, Grand Cayman diving packages, Grand Cayman Districts, Grand Cayman Attractions
Travel Vlog 4K
The Cayman Islands are a group of islands in the Caribbean Sea approximately ninety miles south of Cuba. Grand Cayman is by far the largest, the most populous, and the most visited. Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, together referred to as the Sister Islands, are remote, rural, and sparsely populated. The great majority of visitors arrive by cruise ship to spend the day in Georgetown or doing activities elsewhere in Grand Cayman. Those who vacation in Cayman often come for excellent scuba diving or for the white sands, turquoise waters, and exclusive hotels of Seven Mile Beach. The Cayman Islands function as a self-governing British Overseas Territory. George Town is the capital and with only 20 000 people, is the largest settlement in the islands.

Districts, Settlements, and Regions
=============================
Grand Cayman
=============
George Town - the islands' capital city, the largest settlement, and the hub of commerce and tourism. It is also the location of the main ferry port. Its population is approximately 20 000 inhabitants with as many as 10 000 to 15 000 thousand additional cruise ship visitors and tourists on busy days. George Town has a small, historical downtown area with a number of attractions, shopping areas, and restaurants within a few minutes' walk from the ferry port.

Seven Mile Beach - a long stretch of white sand beach, calm turquoise waters, and exclusive luxury hotels. There are also shops and restaurants across the street. The beach itself is public and can be accessed through marked public beach access paths if you are not staying at one of the hotels.

West Bay - The region north of George Town on the west side of the island. Home to many Caymanian residents as well as popular tourist attractions like the Turtle Farm and the Dolphin Discovery.

Bodden Town - A smaller settlement on the south side of the island.

East End - The farthest east region of the island. Sparsely populated and home to a few resorts.

North Side - The north shore of the island, west of Frank Sound Road. Home to beachside cottage mansions, a few resorts and restaurants, and a few tourist destinations including Rum Point and Starfish point.

Diving
=========
Ever heard of Australia's Great Barrier Reef? Well, Cayman's got a barrier reef too, and it's a scuba diver's dream! If you are already certified, there are plenty of options for offshore diving or a spot on a dive boat. There are also options for try it out fun dives for beginners that don't require any certification.

Snorkelling
==========
Want to take your first look at sea life? You'll need a mask, a snorkel tube, and a pair of fins. Many dive shops rent gear, or if you join an organized snorkel tour they will provide you with some. It takes a little getting used to, but you can see lots of neat fish without venturing far from the beach, so give it a go! Don't feed the fish! Some people think it's cute, but it's actually unhealthy food for them, plus it trains them to chase tourists looking for a handout. And watch out: the chubs bite!

Cayman Islands Department of Tourism - Unravel Travel TV

Nestled in the calm, turquoise waters of the western Caribbean, lies the peaceful British Overseas Territory known as the Cayman Islands. Consisting of three islands just 480 miles south of Miami, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman remain our little piece of paradise.

Government
The Cayman Islands highest official is the Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Duncan Taylor, CBE, who is the appointed representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. He presides over Cabinet, the ruling body of the country. Mr. Taylor succeeded Mr. Stuart Jack, CVO. The Governor's term is four years. The existing constitution of the Cayman Islands, introduced on August 22, 1972, provides for the government of the Cayman Islands as a British Overseas Territory. It established a governing body called the Cabinet, which consists of three officials and five elected members, the latter being selected from the 15 elected representatives of the Legislative Assembly. To see the 15 elected representatives or to get more information visit the Cayman Islands Government website.

Currency
The Cayman Islands has its own currency, first issued in 1972, whose basic unit is the dollar, issued in notes with denominations of CI$100, 50, 25, 10, 5 and 1 and coins valued at 25 cents, 10, 5 and 1 cent. The CI dollar has a fixed exchange rate with the US dollar of CI$1.00 equals US$1.25. Or, the US dollar equals CI $.80. There is no need for visitors to exchange their US dollars into local currency. The US dollar is accepted throughout the islands at a rate of CI 80 cents. However, this can be confusing to visitors: for example, a US$20 note becomes CI$16. Banks do NOT give a better rate of exchange! Major credit cards (with the exception of the Discover Card) and traveller's checks are widely accepted. Canadian dollars, Euro dollars and pounds sterling can be exchanged for CI dollars at local banks. In addition, Automatic Teller Machines accepting VISA and MasterCard with Cirrus affiliation are located at Cayman National Bank and other banks and at Owen Roberts International Airport as well as a few other locations such as the grocery stores.

Geography
The total land mass of the three islands is 100 square miles. Grand Cayman occupies 76 square miles; Cayman Brac, 14 square miles and Little Cayman, 10 square miles. Grand Cayman is approximately 22 miles long and 8 miles at its widest point, reaching a maximum elevation of 79.77 feet in North Side.

Cayman Brac is 14 miles long and 2 miles wide and has the most dramatic topography of the trio. Its majestic Bluff rises west to east along the length of the island to 151.75 above Spot Bay. Many mysterious caves are carved throughout this awe-inspiring natural attraction.

Little Cayman, only 10 miles long and a mile wide, is flat, reaching a maximum elevation of 55.75 ft. Its famous Bloody Bay wall Marine Park has been called one of the world's best dive sites. Inland, the 203 - acre Booby Pond Nature Reserve is a RAMSAR site and nesting ground for the Caribbean's largest population of Red Footed Boobies.
