Bermuda Travel Advice -

Bermuda is a great place to visit. You can find more of my Bermuda travel information here Unlike islands in the Caribbean, Bermuda is due east of the United States. Keep that in mind, as Bermuda is not warm all year. Tourists cannot rent cars on Bermuda. Tourists can only rent mopeds or take a bus or taxi. The food is Bermuda is amazing. Bermudian Fish Chowder is my favorite dish. Their Rum Swizzle drink is awesome too! Please share and be sure to subscribe to IrixGuy's Adventure Channel ( and enjoy my other Bermuda videos too!

10 Things Not to Do in Bermuda

Get more Tips here!

Bermuda is an archipelago of 138 islands that are covered in pink, sandy beaches; specialty shopping; world-class cuisine; and beautiful golf courses. You might be eager to visit it, but take into account these 10 things NOT to do in Bermuda.

1. Don’t Try to Rent a Car
If you’re hoping you’ll be able to rent a car to zip around one of the islands, you’ll be out of luck. Bermudan law makes it illegal to operate a car without a Bermudan driver’s license.

2. Don’t Rent a Motorbike
If it’s your first time on one of these scooters, you might want to think it twice. Many local bus and taxi operators tend to exceed the speed limits on the roads, and they often switch lanes without any warning.

3. Don’t Forget to Try a Swizzle

This tasty concoction is made with Gosling’s Black Seal rum, Gosling’s Gold rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, grenadine, and Angostura bitters. A swizzle is then spun rapidly between your hands and inside the cocktail to give it a thick layer of frost.

4. Don’t Visit the Pink Sand Beaches

One of the most talked about attractions in Bermuda is its pink sand beaches. If you want to enjoy some peace and quiet on a less-hectic coastline, check out the quiet beach on Warwick Long Bay located on Bermuda’s South Shore instead.

5. Don’t Visit on a Tight Budget
You really shouldn’t expect to receive a discount on anything in Bermuda. Since everything has to be imported in, it’s all marked up to insanely high prices.

6. Don’t Touch the Portuguese Man of War
It’s known to float above the surface of the water. Below their purple bladders, they have polyps which contain long tentacles ranging from 30-150 feet long. They can inject venom, and in some cases, it can be fatal.

7. Don’t Stop by Royal Navy Dockyard
Adjacent to the cruise port, this area is full of expensive restaurants and pricey shops. However, if you travel just a few miles more, you’ll find more shops and restaurants that have decent prices.

8. Don’t Book a Budget Hotel
Many people advise visitors to stay at a bed and breakfast instead. The accommodations will be much cheaper, and if you’re traveling with a large group, a B&B will be less expensive per person.

9. Don’t Stay Off the Beaten Path
The islands are so spread out that it’s difficult to make your way from one end to the other. Far from the central locations, many buses stop infrequently, and a lot of the routes end around 7 PM every night. After that, there would only be expensive taxis.

10. Don’t Be Afraid of Sharks
There’s really no need to fear them. The two most common, Galapagos and Dusky sharks, don’t come very close to the shore. And, they’re relatively harmless. Bermuda is known for having a low amount of shark attacks.

Bermuda /bɜrˈmjuːdə/, in full The Islands of Bermuda, also referred to as the Bermudas or the Somers Isles,[6][7][8][9] is a British Overseas Territory in the North Atlantic Ocean, located off the east coast of the United States. Its nearest landmass is Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, about 1,030 kilometres (640 mi) to the west-northwest. It is about 1,239 kilometres (770 mi) south of Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia, and 1,770 kilometres (1,100 mi) northeast of Miami. Its capital city is Hamilton.
Bermuda was discovered in 1505 by Spanish sea captain Juan de Bermúdez, after whom the islands are named. He claimed the apparently uninhabited islands for the Spanish Empire. Although he paid two visits to the archipelago, Bermúdez never landed on the islands because he did not want to risk crossing over the dangerous reef surrounding them. Subsequent Spanish or other visitors are believed to have released the feral pigs that were abundant on the island when European settlement began. In 1609, the Virginia Company, which had established Virginia and Jamestown on the American continent two years earlier, established a settlement founded in the aftermath of a hurricane, when the crew of the sinking Sea Venture steered it on the reef so they could get ashore.
It was first administered as an extension of Virginia by the Company until 1614, before its successor, the Somers Isles Company, took over until 1684. At that time, the company's charter was revoked and the Crown took over administration. The islands became a British colony following the 1707 unification of the parliaments of Scotland and England, which created the Kingdom of Great Britain. After Newfoundland became part of Canada in 1949, Bermuda became the oldest (and, since the return of Hong Kong to China in 1997, the most populous) remaining British Overseas Territory. Its first capital, St. George's, was established in 1612. It is the oldest continuously inhabited English town in the New World.[10]
Bermuda's economy is based on offshore insurance and reinsurance, and tourism—the two largest economic sectors.[10][11] Bermuda had one of the world's highest GDP per capita for most of the 20th century[citation needed] and several years beyond. Recently, its economic status has been affected by the global recession. It has a subtropical climate.[12] Bermuda is the northernmost point of the so-called Bermuda Triangle, a region of sea in which, according to legend, a number of aircraft and surface vessels have disappeared under supposedly unexplained or mysterious circumstances. The island is in the hurricane belt and prone to severe weather. Source :

10 Terrifying Places Science Can't Explain

How to Learn More about the Earth. The scientific community has made great strides in discovering a lot about the planet we call home. Yet there’s still so much we don’t know! In this video, we’ll tell you about 10 of the most mysterious and bewildering places on Earth that even scientists can’t explain! Magnetic Hill, Skeleton Lake, Boiling River and a Dancing Forest. SUMMARY
-Every year when the snow and frozen water melt, Roopkund Lake in the Himalayas reveals 300 skeletons dumped in it.
-The Hessdalen Lights occasionally turn yellowish or reddish, and nobody knows what makes them change color.
-Canadian fur trapper Joe Labelle came to a village located on the shore of Lake Anjikuni to find it completely deserted.
-Some folks call the Devil's Sea the Pacific Bermuda Triangle since ships and planes tend to disappear there with the same regularity as its North Atlantic counterpart.
-The Lake Michigan Triangle has been gaining its notorious reputation since 1891 when a ship disappeared in its waters, along with its crew of seven sailors.
-If you turn off the engine of your car and leave it in neutral on the Magnetic Hill, your vehicle will start climbing ahead, possibly at a speed of 12 miles per hour.
-About a mile before the river empties into Lake Superior, a rocky outcrop splits it in two. And while the eastern flow drops 50 feet down and keeps flowing into the lake, the western part travels 10 feet down into a giant hole... and vanishes.
-Located in Siberia, the Patomskiy Crater is described as a mound with a perfectly circular shape. It’s as big as a 25-story building, sits right in the middle of a wooded area with its top chopped off, and presents quite a sight.
-The Boling River really is steaming hot. At a temperature of 187°F, it’s not exactly boiling, but it’s pretty close.
-Located on the thin Curonian Spit that divides the Baltic Sea from the Curonian Lagoon is one of the strangest places on Earth. The pine trees in this forest have shockingly unusual shapes: they twist in spirals and circles along the ground.

BERMUDA, a tour of the MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLAND in the WORLD

SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go for a tour around this beautiful island nation located right in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. Definitely one of the most beautiful countries I have ever visited in my life. Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory in the North Atlantic Ocean, off the east shore of North America about 1,070 km (665 mi) east-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, 1,236 km (768 mi) south of Cape Sable Island, Canada, and 1,578 km (981 mi) north of Puerto Rico. The capital city is Hamilton.

Best Time to Visit Bermuda for Vacation

The best time to visit Bermuda depends on avoiding the cooler winter months and rain in late summer and most of the fall.

* Please SUBSCRIBE to see more new videos! *

Bermuda weather is often attractive on this island paradise -- not too hot, not too cold. Located just 650 miles east of North Carolina, Bermuda shares the same seasons as the United States but with much milder seasonal changes.

Just as the winter months are the coldest in the U.S., they are also coldest in Bermuda. But Bermuda's average winter low is only in the low 60s Fahrenheit.

Winter sea temperatures in the mid-60s are too cold for swimming. But the weather is still mild enough for the many tourist attractions on land that Bermuda has to offer.

There's nothing like a mild winter day to enjoy strolling the cobbled streets of historic St. George, visiting centuries-old churches or touring the working lighthouses.

BERMUDA TEMPERATURES
The average daily high temperature is in the upper 60s Fahrenheit from January through March and in the 70s in April and May.

While August is the warmest month and a favorite time for tourists to enjoy the pristine beaches, it is still a pleasant 86 degrees. Warm enough to bask in the sun, yet not too hot to enjoy being outside.

June, July, and August are the most popular months for tourists to hit the beaches of Bermuda and enjoy snorkeling, sailing, scuba diving, or simply savoring the sun.

Average high temperatures stay in the mid-80s during September, then drop into the 70s from October through December.

Sea temperatures reach the low 80s in July through September, making those months ideal for swimming and lying on the beach.

BERMUDA RAINFALL
Summer is the most popular time to visit Bermuda, but it also is a time for more rainfall.

The island has rain about 15 days each month give or take a few. The low point for total rain is May, which makes it the ideal month for Bermuda's famous beaches and golf courses.

The amount of rain averages less than five inches a month throughout the year. It starts to climb in June and hits a high of more than six inches in October during the peak of the Caribbean hurricane season. It drops back down to normal levels in November.
