Ketchikan, Alaska is a great place to visit our family really enjoyed our time their. In this video my wife walks you through 3 of the top things to do while you're in Ketchikan.
We lived in Ketchikan for almost 1 year and wanted to take you on a journey of some of the things we saw and were able to do.
Most of you are probably coming in on a cruise ship and will only be there for a short period of time. We wanted to let you know about some of the things that you should consider when in port at Ketchikan.

Walking in Ketchikan, Alaska - What to Do on Your Day in Port
This is a quick video of walking through Ketchikan, Alaska. Ketchikan is the state's southeasternmost major settlement. Downtown Ketchikan is a National Historic District. Incorporated on August 25, 1900. Ketchikan is located on Revillagigedo Island, so named in 1793 by Captain George Vancouver.
Ketchikan is named after Ketchikan Creek, which flows through the town, emptying into the Tongass Narrows a short distance southeast of its downtown. Ketchikan comes from the Tlingit name for the creek, Kitschk-hin, the meaning of which is unclear. It may mean the river belonging to Kitschk; other accounts claim it means Thundering Wings of an Eagle. In modern Tlingit this name is rendered as Kichx̱áan.
We walked up to Creek St. and then took the tram up to Cape Fox Lodge. We then walked down to the City Park and then back to the ship.
Note: At 5:13 the caption reads: We have walked about 'fo blocks' now. There is an outlet mall here with restrooms.
It should say 'four blocks'.

Top 4 MUST-DOs in Ketchikan, Alaska
In today's vlog, we spend an extra long day in Ketchikan, Alaska. We rented a car through Alaska Car Rentals for $100 for the entire day ($25 per person shore excursion)! Starting the day at Herring Cove, we were disappointed that no bears were out, but we continued up the road and were pleasantly surprised to have the hidden waterfall all to ourselves. Based on a local's recommendation, we attempted to hike Silvis Lake trail before a final stop at Herring Cove. After returning our rental car, we explored downtown Ketchikan by foot and visited the iconic Creek Street (red light district of Alaska!) Come along with us as we take in the beautiful sights and sounds of Alaska.
