I Just Got Banned From North Korea

North Korea is the most isolated and interesting country in the world. I had the chance to visit Pyongyang for 3 nights, 4 days back in April 2017 - and shortly after I left, Americans became banned from visiting. To this day, I think that I'm one of the last dozen Americans to step foot in North Korea, and I'm glad that I'm here to tell the stories. In this video, I share 4 reasons why I will never go back to North Korea.

Just out of curiosity - have you ever been there, or are you planning to go (if you don't hold a U.S. passport?) Let me know in the comments down below!

SHOCKING Reasons You Should NEVER Visit North Korea!

SHOCKING Reasons You Should NEVER Visit North Korea!

Welcome back to Around The Globe, today on the channel we are revealing Why You Should Never Visit North Korea. North Korea requires that you join a government-sanctioned tour, where you will be accompanied by a guide at all times. These tours are heavily monitored, and you will not be permitted to wander off and explore sites on your own. All of your interactions with civilians, if any, will always be shadowed by your guide. Going against the established rules in a tour can put you and your guide’s life in grave danger. If you are caught doing something illegal, your guide may be accused of being a co-conspirator by “helping” you spy on the country. For this act of treason, he or she will be imprisoned. Therefore, if you find the restriction of movement in a pre-planned tour suffocating or troublesome, you may want to visit another destination instead of North Korea.

In North Korea you can not speak about any religious beliefs or demonstrate your faith by handing out religious materials to anyone in the DPRK. Christianity, for example, is prohibited to the point where being caught with a Bible means that you will face imprisonment, torture, or execution. By contrast, past and current leaders are elevated to godlike status in North Korea. Please continue watching the video for more information Why You Should Never Visit North Korea.

She Escaped North Korea (to America). Crazy Story.

Today in Chicago, I had the pleasure to meet a young North Korean girl named Evelyn. 6 years ago, when she was 15 years Evelyn, she escaped North Korea with her mother for a better life. Both without passports, they spent 1 month traveling by foot across China, Laos and Thailand - where the South Korean government officially recognized her as a refugee and she was granted permission to migrate to the United States of America.

In this eye-opening interview, Evelyn tells me her escape story and how she has managed to integrate so well into American society. She lives all by herself and just bought her first car (with her hard-earned income!).

North Korea is (by a long shot) the world's most interesting country. I visited the capital city of Pyongyang in April 2017, way back when I first got my hands on a video camera, and luckily I was able to document it. It was a wild trip, to say the least, and I'm glad that I can share my experiences with you in this video.

Buckle up for the next 9 minutes as I take you deep inside Pyongyang, North Korea to see how many things I could buy for $10 USD or less -- I think you will be quite surprised!

10 Things Forbidden To Buy in North Korea

Get more Tips here!

We are used to buy anything we think of, but if we're heading to North Korea. We should bare in mind that due to the sanctions by the United Nations plus the restrictions by kim jong Un, there're lots of products we can't buy there.

1) Cable TV
As you can imagine, all the tv programes are monitored by the Government. In fact, they even have a strict scheadule, the tv channel starts at 3 pm. Everything that you can see has already been pre-approved, and it's basically, news, propaganda, documentaries and the activities of their leader. So fun!

2) Smoking
In 2007, smoking was completely forbidden to avoid health issues in their former leader Kim Jong Il. However his son and actual leader has been seen several times smoking freely and with no restrictions at all.

3) Magazines
Of course, we're talking about international magazines, forget about the ones you already know, you won't find them. This happens to avoid being brainwashed from foreign media. So, instead, they have others controlled by their Government, full of national propaganda and the activities of their leader. Very entertaining for sure...

4) Christmas trees
The country says to support any religion custom, however, that's not true. If you show a preference for any other religion you will have lots of really big problems. And... Christmas trees represent another religion so... you can imagine the consequences of having one.

5) Ipad
Apple company has restrictions on this country so they don't sell their products there, also in North Korea is completely forbidden to have one or an Iphone. However, their leader Kim Jong Un is allowed to own them and he doesn't hesitate in taking pictures with them.

6) Houses
It's a very strange thing for us to think of a country where you can't own a home, but... this is North Korea. So, here, the thing is that there are no builders, the army build everything, and... also, instead of buying a house, flat or whatever, you trade it. It's forbidden to own properties.

7) Birth control methods
Many North Korean people don't even know what they are. They used to sell them in the black market, however they don't do that anymore because they were expensive and unknown.

8) Jeans
Yes! you heard it right! Jeans! Well, the North Korean Government controls... everything. So the style of clothing is not less. They have established a specific style that doesn't involve jeans at all. In fact, it's forbidden, so you won't find them on the stores.

9) Coca cola
The real coca cola is impossible to find in this country due to the international sanctions. However, there is a fake Chinese coca cola that try to replace it on the stores. So if you are too anxious for one, maybe you can try this one.

10) Mc Donalds
No, you won't find any Mc Donalds at all in North Korea due to the international sanctions. Sure, you can find some burguer over there, but it will never be the same. If you go there, try to eat them before you travel.

Did you already know all of these restrictions in North Korea?

'The Privileged' Store in North Korea - Part 1

====================================================
Ok, so this is my 46th video that I uploaded, many people asked me..
How could you upload youtube video in NK?.
He uploads the video after he back to Indonesia, because he didn't dare if he upload directly from NK.
Nope..that is not entirely True..

#jakaparker #northkorea #koreautara

The answer is..

I already back to Indonesia, and currently I live in Indonesia..
My first 23 videos was uploaded when I was in North Korea.

The most different thing that when I uploaded video in NK, for a 15 minute video needed two days to upload, because the internet there was unstable due to electricity on off several times in a day..I can’t subscribe for cellular internet mobile because its way too expensive and..not reliable too...
but..when in Indonesia, I can choose which provider for internet and to upload a 15 minute video need only few minutes...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK..
back to this video..
I was going to a store which was located inside the Diplomatic Compound in Munsu District, behind Vietnam Embassy (you can check it out in Google Maps)
Sure..because these videos is about my daily life in NK...so I only posted about my routines things that I am doing in NK).

This store named Pyongyang Shop, which only several people who can access inside, only Foreigners and local Korean people who can get permission to be inside Diplomatic Compound (usually Korean people who works for foreign Organisations and embassies).

Btw.. sorry for bad English and Korean..

Any viewers who understand Korean language might be laughing hearing me trying to make conversations with the locals..please pardon me.
