A tour of Emir's Palace in Ilorin | Pelu Awofeso On The Road
Earlier this month, I set out on a 10-day roadtrip with colleagues Efetobo Awhana (CEO, Nigeria Travel Week) and Hassan Zakari (President, Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN).
We set out to crisscross 8 states and visit at least 15 landmarks, attractions and #monuments, among them a UNESCO World #Heritage Site.
These nclude museums, nature parks, resorts, places of worship, #palaces, mountains and waterfalls.

Set on the shore of Lake Victoria, the largest freshwater lake in Africa, the Kisumu Impala Sanctuary is a peaceful, relaxing place to enjoy the natural beauty that abounds here. The sanctuary hosts impalas, the rare Sitatunga antelope as well as big cats, buffalos, giraffes, cheetahs and several primate species. The sanctuary is also home to five campsites all with spectacular views of Lake Victoria. Bird watching, nature walks and glass bottomed boat rides compliment the activities availed at the sanctuary.

Where are the Kuria people from?
The Kuria people (also known as the AbaKurya, are a Bantu community in Tanzania and Kenya. Their homeland is bounded on the east by the Migori River and on the west by the Mara River estuary.
The Kuria belong to the Bantu linguistic group, and are closely related to the Abalogoli and Kisii communities. In Kenya they live in Migori county. They are divided into clans (ibiaro) with minor variations in laws, practices and language. The Kuria do not have a common historical background.
