Limburg to Vlaams Brabant Part 1 - Passing the Pukkelpop festival area - 360 3D Spatial Audio
This time we go on a roadtrip from Houthalen to Perk (where we've been before), passing 2 of the biggest Music Festival sites of Belgium: Pukkelpop (in this video) and Werchter (in Part 5 of the trip, as there is some distance to cover :-). As we are experimenting with VR360 and VR180 stereoscopic, this video can be viewed in both formats on Youtube, this one being 360 and the VR180 here:

3:33 on your right the 2 towers of the old coal mines in Houthalen. Limburg had lots of coalmining starting in 1901. 29th September 1992 Zolder was the last coal mine to close.

6:10 on your left you can go to Zonhoven, but we continue on the N74 to Hasselt.

13:02 bridge over train connection Genk-Hasselt (going further to Brussels and the North Sea).
13:10 on your left the Philipssite: here used to be the Philips factory where they invented/developed the Compact Cassette in 1963 and later, together with Sony, the Compact Disc-player (the Compact in the name is no coincidence :-), commercially released in 1982.
13:25 After 48 years the Philips company closed the factory and it was redeveloped into what is now known as the Corda Campus.
14:28 ready to take the bridge over the Albert Canal, named after King Albert I of Belgium and constructed from 1930 through 1939. It connects Antwerp with Liège and the Meuse river with the Scheldt river. There's also a connection with the Dessel–Turnhout–Schoten Canal. The Albert Canal has a total length of about 130 kilometres.
14:50 taking a left on the Gouverneur Verwilghensingel, also locally named the Big Ring around Hasselt (lots of cities in Belgium have a Big Ring and a Small Ring, in the city itself). 14:57 At the next stoplight we'll pickup this trip with the earlier published Hasselt videos.

Dit is een natuurreservaat tussen Zonhoven en Hasselt in de Belgische provincie Limburg.
De Platwijers is een gebied dat bestaat uit visvijvers en weilanden
en is 100 ha groot.

Welcome back to the LAST scene filmed in Belgium.
If you have been following the Belgian scenes, then you have probably noticed the word Beguinage being mentioned.
Today i want to talk about it and show you the Beguinage of Diest.
It was founded in 1253 by Arnold IV, lord of Diest.
Most of the current houses date from the 17th and 18th centuries.
The beautiful Saint Catherine's Church from the 13th century was built of iron sandstone.
Beguinages were Christian religious orders that were active in Western Europe, particularly in the Low Countries between the 13th and 16th centuries.
Before the 19th century, there were a total of 94 Beguinages in Belgium.
Cities with a Beguinage community at their peak could count more than 2,000 beguines.
Women who live in a Beguinage are called Beguines and the male variant is Beghards.
Beguinages mainly consisted of young girls, unmarried women and widows.
Beguines lived a voluntary semi-monastic life, but did not take formal religious vows, which distinguishes them from monks and nuns.
Those who decided to be part of a Beguinage promised not to marry as long as they lived as Beguines, members were free to leave at any time.
The life of a Beguine was an imitation of the life of Jesus through voluntary poverty, care for the poor and sick, and religious devotion.
It was also a way of protesting the wealthy lifestyle and clergy of the time (11th century), who lived openly with concubines and ignored their parishioners.
After the French Revolution, the Beguinages underwent a massive decline and gradually died out completely.
The last traditional Beguine, Marcella Pattyn, died at the age of 92 in April 2013 in the Beguinage of Kortrijk, Belgium.

Wandelen in Aldeneik
Vlak bij het charmante stadje Maaseik, ligt Aldeneik, de wieg van Maaseik. Achter het oude munsterkerkje uit de 11de eeuw ligt een erg mooi natuurgebied dat in ieder seizoen uitnodigt om er te wandelen of te fietsen. Wandel met ons mee de winter in, de lente door en de zomer uit. Laat ons hopen dat tegen die tijd Corona de wereld uit is. In afwachting: alvast veel kijk- en vooral veel wandel- of fietsplezier!
Près de la charmante ville de Maaseik, se trouve Aldeneik, le berceau de Maaseik. Derrière l'ancienne petite église du XIe siècle se trouve une très belle réserve naturelle, qui vous invite à marcher ou à faire du vélo en toute saison. Marchez avec nous en hiver, au printemps et en été. Espérons que d'ici là, Corona est hors du monde. En prévision: beaucoup de plaisir visuel et surtout beaucoup de plaisir à pied ou à vélo!
Aldeneik is located close to the charming town of Maaseik. Behind the old 11th century minster is a very beautiful nature reserve that invites you to walk or cycle in any season. Walk with us into winter, through spring and out through summer. Let's hope that by then Corona is out of the world. In anticipation: a lot of viewing and above all a lot of walking or cycling pleasure!

Wegenwerken in Zonhoven: Op vrijdag 10 april 2020 werd de toplaag asfalt gelegd in de Katschotseweg.
Spectaculaire waterglijbanen / Toboggans spectaculaires
Een camping zonder waterplezier is als brood zonder beleg. Daarom heeft een Vacansoleil-camping in (bijna) alle gevallen een uitnodigend zwembad met een apart en veilig kinderbad. Maar het mag natuurlijk ook een beetje spannend zijn. Daarom hebben wij een selectie samengesteld van campings met de meest spectaculaire waterglijbanen. Van wildwaterbanen tot glijbanen met complete loopings erin. Hoe harder en hoger, hoe beter.
Un camping sans jeux aquatiques c'est un peu comme du pain sans beurre. C'est pourquoi, dans (presque) tous les cas, un camping Vacansoleil dispose d'une belle piscine avec un bassin séparé pour les enfants, pour plus de sécurité. Mais cela doit également être attractif et captivant. C'est pourquoi nous avons établi une sélection de campings avec les toboggans les plus spectaculaires. Laissez-vous glisser et faites un looping complet. Plus c'est dur et plus c'est haut, meilleur c'est !

Paseo en bicicleta por la ruta que une la reserva natural de De Wijers con Hasselt. La estructura que aparece en el vídeo es Fietsen door het Water, cuyo proyecto fue el ganador del World Landscape Architecture Awards 2018.

Limburgse Mijnen - Zolder
In deze zevendelige reeks bezoek ik alle Limburgste steenkoolmijnen in het Kempens Bekken. Een industrieel verleden dat we nooit mogen vergeten!
De mijn van Zolder was in 1992 de laatste koolmijn van de Benelux die sloot, en als gevolg is er nog veel terug te zien van deze mijn. De terril zelf is ook zeker een bezoekje waard, en maakt het goed dat er in Zolder geen mijnkathedraal is!
