Danshan Chishui is a nature reserve located at the central part of Siming Mountains, about 65 kilometers west of Ningbo city center. The area is a hidden gem that features deep rooted Taoist culture and beautiful mountainous scenery characterized by steep cliffs, deep gorges, clear river streams and dense forests. Right at the heart of the reserve is Shilin Village, one of the best preserved ancient villages in eastern Zhejiang Province.

Origins of the Neolithic Hemudu Culture - Yuyao, China 中国余姚
余姚由“邑有句余山，又南有姚江”而得名。这座城市 它所带给你的优雅可能不及杭州，却多了一份落地的温柔； 它所讲述的山水可能不及九川五岳的壮丽威严，却于缓缓流淌中漾足了清秀瑰丽；它附着的文艺气息可能不像苏州那么透彻，却用慢慢的格调将你包裹在这份生活中…… 这便是余姚。
One of the earliest sites of human civilisation, Yuyao is steeped in wonder. Traces of the Neolithic Hemudu Culutre have been discovered in the area where Yuyao county is located, dating back to 5000 B.C.
Yuyao also produced many important scholars, Yan Zi-Ling in the Han Dynasty, Yu Fan in the Three Kingdoms Period, Yu Xi in the Jin Dynasty, Yu Shinan in the Sui Dynasty, Wang Yangming in the Tang Dynasty, Zhu Shunshui and Huang Zongxi in Ming Dynasty.
During World War 2, Yuyao was one of China’s 19 bases combatting the Japanese invasion, central to the eastern Zhejiang province resistance.
